  • DANGER!

    RAKE

    KEEP HANDS

    CLEAR

where did you get that sign??

  • @fairyheli2 scrap yard, came off some big industrial processing machine

  • I like how it sounds just like an old tractor. Lovely sound it has.

"High pressure gas pipeline - Do not excavate!" - LOL! The live firing sign is good too.

Do you think it's a good idea to use the crankcase as the fuel tank if the piston rings and sleeve are good (and it's a vertical engine)? xD Just one of my crazy ideas.

  • But can it run crysis?

  • G'Day A50... That is a nice sounding engine. What is amazing is at slow speed, it sounds just like a semidiesel (hot bulb) engine. I do believe that the reaction to the governor movement changing the injection amount is exaggerated at low speeds. If the engine were running at a higher rpm, the effect wouldn't be as noticeable. Anyhow, great salvage job from something that was pretty well trashed to a very decent engine.. GW..

  • Wow sure runs very nicely. Glad it didnt get scrapped

  • What a transformation! nice job :)

  • These engines are rated to 3000rpm at the crank.

  • Where did you get that "live firing" sign?

  • @douro20 scrap metal yard, just like most of them

  • What did this motor come out of? I know it was a junkyard find just wondering what it opperates?

  • @INTOGUNS1 its a boat engine

  • Amazing, sounds happy. Wonder how it would start when its cold out.....

  • What's the batt for ? dos it need a fuel pump or something like that ?.

    Great job

  • @38911bytefree yeh the batt is simply for the fuel lift pump, sombody suggested that these CAV filters can let air bubbles in if they operate under negative pressures, so I use 6psi lift,

  • Sounds good

  • also love the hit and miss style it runs on

  • @alex993cc1 its constant firing but playing with the gov makes it miss a bit.

  • i should say tho, that your finds are amazing, i just play with trucks and machinery lol

  • love the radiator mate

i should post some videos of my shit for you to see lol bigger toys tho

  • pump it pump it pump it pump it pump it

  • i saw a yanmar marine engine same era as that one, was going to get it, but need to save up for the austral lol, do you plan on selling it or any projects to go with it?

  • Sweet soundtrack, but the sweetest sound is when you rev it up and let off again and it slows down, that sound is really nice to listen to.

Reminds me of my neighbors old around WW2 era farm tractor, sounds similar to your Yanmar.

  • I liked the way it was clagging like a proper diesel in the other vids.

  • @FrontSideBus depends how I play with the Governor, i want it to carbon up and improve compression,

  • great job - well done!

  • cool. sounds old and sweet. id put around a lake with that. lol but it in a boat and take it to sea. :D.

  • @V8Jagnut dunno about the sea bit but I would give it a run on a lake

  • Have you ran the out put drive to make sure it all works?

  • since you have all the stuff, why not make a real chopper bike with the engine? or use the china diesel

  • @30GB that would be fun, not sure where to start tho.

I'll try the 7.5 Mercury outboard powerhead on a BMX first

  • @Aussie50

animebsd has built a diesel bike at a point, too bad he lately removed a LOT of his vids or made them private etc. Ask him about it, maybe he's having that somewhere...

  • @mylazyfatcat yeh it had 2 alternators on it when I found it!

  • One sweet running machine. I look forward to your updates. Cheers Borge.

  • that is a self primining pump if it doesn't prime you have a bad seal or a fucked impeller it takes no more than 10 seconds to ruin a rubber impeller but if you have a silcon oone it can for minutes : )

  • @joeyf504327 I think some of the tolerances are out on the pump housing. its a silicone impeller

  • Really sounds like a sweetheart, youve done it again Ed :-)

And now an alternator is battery charging, that little beauty can be used for allsorts now, bigger battery and little starter motor next? lol.

Its allways smashing to see an ill engine brought back to life :-)

  • That left hand direction of cranking is a bastard. Funny, my mates Pmx 8 cranks in the other direction. All other Yanmars I have seen all crank clockwise. I have seen some Pommies that also crank backwards. A Kelvin and a lister from memory, You have got that motor running a sweet as a nut.Credit to you.

  • @romandybala your not wrong!, the LH cranking is a bitch!. I can't get as much Oomph into it as I can a RH crank starter.

  • Turned out to be a pretty nice runner! Doesn't even seem to be burning oil.

Wonder if you should try loading it up with the alternator?

  • @amfan12 I'll try the alt next, I think its 24V since its from a truck.

  • That engine is really nice.
