Cirque du Soleil is all about visual art and anything "random" is supposed to have a symbolic meaning of some sort. I think the character on the crutches is a fallen angel because I can see wings on his back at 0:05. According to my interpretation, he watches over the contortionist(s) because he envies her/them and longs to be free from his injuries.

Ulziibayar Chimed is a girl. She was only sixteen when they filmed this. The "bulge" you're talking about is actually just her pelvic bone. In addition to being able to bend her spine backwards, Ulzibayar can also bend her legs farther back than any normal person can. Contortion builds muscle strength but it doesn't really build any muscle mass because all of that stretching tones the muscles down and gets rid of any visible fat. That's why many contortionists look very skinny.

It very hard to get into Cirque du Soleil alone get's more then i think 100 job applications a day (i might be wrong in figures)and the process doesn't end there. If you do get picked (1. your very luck 2. you must be extremely talented) you have to audition for a place. If you don't do well you don't get the job. If you do, you go into a years worth of training, 6 days a week. The training itself is very hard and some people leave during that time, it's tough work being in a circus.

1. No I don't work for a circus, I know this much because I've been reading as much as i could on CDS. I don't know how much they make however one would guess quiet a lot, after all they do work hmmm sometimes twice a day (depends on day)6 days a week. Equaling a lot. They do get replaced after period of time. Think about it working 6 days a week for roughly 6-7 year or more depending on show (Alegria is about 13 yrs old) doing the same thing over and over again one could get bored.

Sorry text was to big. Following on from that, people in acts change, sometimes they need a break or are recovering for injure. When this happens someone else is brought in from other shows. They usally select people who are the same height and have similar faces to origanal artist (saving money this way)If they don't have a match then they look through tapes of submission or audision.
