change the title in 21st century producers most favorite video, then try to find out what really billy jean was. Artists, sound engineers, real producers. 1982 u confortably numbstr.
@MilMarize I know the story behind Billy Jean, have been fan of Michael since he was still member of Jackson Five. But making this clip was not about conceiling stuff or "improve" the song and/or telling that 1982 stuff was/is easy to produce. Neither did i had any intensions in starting any sort of flamewar around this tutorial.
You could make your track sound more punchy by cutting the beats to the start of the sample, that way your bass instrument will hit at the same time as the beat and give that lovely punchy sound... The levels are kinda off as well, but what the hell, it's a demo!
Hey! So, starting from the top, I found this Wavosaur you use but when I copy a sample from a song I load in Wavosaur, I can't paste it into the Renoise sample editor. Can you help me?
haha.. great video and a nice tutorial.. i've been using renoise for some time now, it's really a great program. I used Octamed on the Amiga waaaay back in the day and renoise is like a modern-day version! :D
@Gorguruga Hey I was using Octamed too :) That 8 channel thing really didn't work, but genius all the same ! Had a Technosound Turbo II sampler as well... How do I remember this??
@AlternativeScience Technosound turbo, those were the days...I had something similar like an AMAS sampler back then... (It could do 16 bit in mono and 8 bit stereo sampling). Got it second hand though, new they were hard to shell out for back in those days.
I simply put an mpreverb device on one send-channel and i added a senddevice to the beat-track and shaker track that routed to the reverb sendchannel. It was pure to mask the cut-interruptions because of playing the percussion snippets. Adding the reverb makes the beatline sound a bit more seamless again, though it is pretty hard to distinguish the interrupts in the whole picture.
Easy should be interpret as it is almost as much common known phenomenon as Coca Cola, so most will know the groove and tone of the song and i'll simply display how you can create a song in this software to make the learning curve that the software has a little less steep ;)
Perhaps, i just didn't needed more samples than those few.
It does save space. Besides, 09xx is not something that makes visually clear what happens and the purpose of this workshop is to keep it simple and clear.
Found it through google (Billy jean acapella). Though bitrate announcements are varying from 128-bit to 320kbps, my ears tell me quality ain't higher than 64kbps (even 40kbps in some cases).

@GrubeMasterFlex I only applied reverb on the percussiontrack.
I didn't touched anythin else in that regard.

Billie Jean was recorded in 1982,
not in 2009.
SO don't take it for easy-music.

09xx would have removed the need to chop up the break like that.

denardo123456789 2 years ago
I don't remember...
I don't care what site that stuff is on, i google for it, try it and if it suits my needs i close my browserwindow or tab.
It was not easy but it was not that hard either. I'm sure you will find it if you put a little effort into it.

@denardo123456789 you can download the almost unlimited demo from renoiseDOTcom
