People should not comment their thoughts when they really don't know what they are talking about. Ignorance leads to uninformed bias and posts that only show one's lack of knowledge. Just sayin'.
They don't get paid for what they do. Their living expenses are taken care of beyond what their personal finances/retirement cannot cover. Just like LDS missionaries are not paid for their service. In fact, we pay from our pockets into a central missionary fund which is divided up for all missionary expenses worldwide. I didn't get paid for my mission in Italy. I used the money I had saved up for years to serve my mission. Service is service. If we got paid, it would be a job not service.
The President of LDS Inc lives in a home worth that amount, owned by LDS Inc, and has all that in the video. The LDS church only calls and elects the wealthy as it serves it's capitalist, republican masters. Show me a poor apostle? God called clergy are poor and they sacrafice riches to serve him, LDS clergy are typically rich, oh and dont give me that I know a bishop who only makes 20G somewhere, for everyone of them is 100 lawyer doctor bishops making 6 or 7 figures, praising capitalism and bs
Kenneth and Gloria Cope, owns a private airstrip, a hangar for the ministry's $17.5 million jet and other aircraft, and a $6 million church owned lakefront mansion, and a salary of $500,000 anualy.
Bennie Hinn, Benny Hinn Ministries, has not released his salary, but Hinn said in an interview that he earned between $500,000 and $1 million each year.
John Hagee, Global Evangelism Television, which that year used tax-exempt donor money to pay Hagee nearly half a million dollars in salary and deferred compensation for sixteen hours of work a week. Hagee earned another $300,000 from his church
Charles E. Blake, earns a $900,000 salary and owns a 10,000-square-foot mansion in Beverly Hills while most of his congregation lives in impoverished South Central Los Angeles
Joel Osteen, He and his wife, Victoria Osteen, moved to a luxurious $10.5 million, 17,000 square-foot mansion in the River Oaks neighborhood of Houston in 2010
Eddie Long, received more than $3.07 million worth of compensation and benefits from his non-profit charity, compensation included a $1.4 million six-bedroom, nine-bath home on 20 acres, use of a $350,000 luxury Bentley automobile and more than $1 million in salary
Ed Young, lived in a 10,000 square-foot, $1.5 million home, was paid $240,000 a year as a parsonage allowance in addition to a $1 million yearly pastor's salary
Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham and the president of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan's Purse, had a total compensation of $1.2 million in 2008
Not even remotely true. Most of the 12 live in their own modest homes in Salt Lake that they built, all under a few hundred thousand. I know of no member of the 12 that does not drive their own car. Several of them do not even own cars and NONE that I know has an auto anywhere near worth the amount mentioned. As far as a meal is concerned, that 12K number is the only joke here. Besides, we have 15 senior citizens working 80+ hours weeks and we can't give them a free lunch on occasion? Hmm.
I predict that the CHEATING REPUBLICAN PARTY will DESTROY themselves-IF the Republican Party does not STOP running a LOS VEGAS style PRIMARY we the Conservative American People will abandon YOU and YOUR: Mit the 33* Mormon anti christ.
Everybody needs to ATTACK the REPUBLICAN Establishment Party(with the Satan upside down stars on elephants back.) Attack Carl Rove the architect of ELECTION FRAUD with Jeb in 2000, who is running the Republicans Casino style Primary.
Brigham Young was a pervert and a polygamist. Joseph Smith was a polygamist and a false prophet. He was also a consummate liar. Golden plates, my ass!
Shawn, making fun of the LDS Church, outright lying, and spreading misinformation. A simple look at the education and careers of the Church leaders prior to their being sustained as General Authorities demonstrates them to have incredible educational and vocational backgrounds. I doubt men who served successfully and retired as Doctors, Lawyers, Corporate CEOs, Engineers, Pilots, Authors, Financiers, Professors, Judges, etc., need financial assistance stemming from their ecclesiastical service.
MONSON "sucked up to" Erich Hoenecker (of E. Germany, in the 1980s), in telling that dictator that "Mormons won't give you any trouble: they know how to be under authority!".
And, now that Monson is the Top Dog Alpha Male, of the Mormon Crutch, he gleefully smiles at that bald-headed Eyring idiot, who makes an ass of himself by [also] gleefully demonstrating that HE knows "how to not challenge the authority" of that dumb-f*cker Monson.
THAT EFFUSIVE LITTLE MUTT, EHYRING, IS LIKE THE LITTLE PUPPY WHO KNOWS HOW TO SUCK UP TO THE ALPHA MALE: in this case, it is that equally funny little flubber, Thos. S. Monson, who knows a suck-up (viz., Eyring), when he sees one, and is thus GLEEFUL, over it!
(Translation: If it is not worth the effort, for you [to be here, watching this vid], then the only thing left to do is to say, to YOU, "Get Thee Hence, Satan!")
Did you know patriarchal blessings cost money in Joseph Smith's & Brigham Young's time? It's sad that the LDS church omits these events. But you can still find it from the "History of the church" records.
i do not understand why mormons responds with such venom, vulgairty to those whom they disagree with?! one's true self comes out in unpleasant/ackward moments. i always thought that mormons were kind people. the only problem i have with mormonism is that they discriminated against black people. how can you be part of an organisation that shares something so heinously wicked as the KKK?! No decent person can affiliate themself with either of these organisations FULL STOP!
This is bull crap. Church members willingly pay. You don't get punished if you don't. So ya, you're right, the church does provide for a lot of things by the money that we pay, but it is all done on a volunteer basis. This video is B.S.
This would be a non issue if the missionaries where not handing out cards with 10 reasons your Christian religion is wrong - one being because your pastor makes a living from his/her ministry. Read 1 Corinthians Chapter 9 for biblical council on this matter. This is another sad example of the LDS throwing the first stone, then claiming "persecution" when a rebuttal is given.
@jakelbies um... I don't think those cards exist... However, I think you might be talking about cards that say 10 points to why the LDS church is true. But I do not believe that they have cards that say 10 reasons why your religion is false.
People claim to be Christian dedicate so much time bashing other religions. Love thy God and thy neighbor These are such basic principles yet Shawn Mccraney dedicates his life to destroying others faith in what has helped them through their many trials. It's time to be more loving. Shawn's in a position to spend less time spreading hatred towards Mormons and more on building faith in Christ. In the end believing in Christ, His atonement & following his commandments is what true Christianity is.
I'm Gary DeVaney in Las Vegas. Mormon missionaries stopped knocking on my door. I enjoyed debating the content of "The God Murders" webiste with them. I think they black-listed me. Regards, G
its not funny my dear because you didn't know what is the situation in our church your so bad and we didn't like that if you want to say that you can say that to your own and we didnt need your critiszm saying.
There are three levels of heaven, tellestial, terrestrial, and for those wanting to live I higher law celestial. We are all gonna make it to one of them but the ones whom take care of all the ordinances i.e. Baptism , confirmation, mission, marriage, sealings, etc., what even cooler if you are ignorant of the gospel you will be saved. But the end will come after everyone has had a chance to be offered the gospel in it's entirety. The latter-day saints do have a great plan and why, it is of god.
The Church doesn't have to convince me of anything, and if the Prophet and his counselors are provided for and live somewhat comfortably (other than being literally worked to death), then that's okay with me.
You're saying that all of these men worked full-time in their own professions while being lay clergy in the church, and then they are provided a few necessities now that they're older and retired? Oh no, I said that didn't I? And I've been to an apostle's house (Boyd K. Packer): he owns a modest home (that he built himself) and doesn't even own a car. Many of the senior officials in the Church can easily provide for themselves and do.
Oh wow, man! You've struck gold with this! This is obviously "very funny!" Out of millions of Church members worldwide, the Church only provides a few men and their families some (nice) necessities?! Holy crap! Down with the Mormons! What a bunch of liars! Those thieves! How dare they get a salary! Oh wait, they don't? None of these men went to school to officiate in Church offices? None of these men expected a paying job in the Church?
@Ape1nope actually I have seen two apostles driving their wives around provo. they were in greenish newish toyotas. go look at the MTC parking lot during mission presidents week and there are always coming and going driving themselves around. you obviously don't know what your talking about quit acting like you know when you don't and these guys aren'y going to go hungry anyways because they were all pretty successful guys before they became apostles. Nelson was a heart surgreon.
@Ape1nope your not getting it brother! lol come on, the difference is I am not putting up false opinions about things as if they are true, like you are. I totally agree with you, that I have no facts.(except I did see president Monsons house) I am not going to act like I do. Thats where we are different. You were putting your opinion up, and acting like its a fact. I was just telling you that make sure your 100 percent accurate before you do that. you know what im sayin? no disrespect
@jaromsmiss "not" what? Use your words moron. There is no such thing as a false opinion you nitwit. In my opinion the color green is the best color.. that's an opinion, it cant be false by the definition of what an opinion is. Go back to school, pay attention this time.
@jaromsmiss Nothing you said explains away your confusion regarding "false opinions". And that was not a defense, that was an offense. I read your crap, and attacked you because... it was crap. What part of that is "defensive". And since you are a "true" follower of Christ, I'll remind you that your god once destroyed an entire village of children because two of them made fun or someones bald head... that is the "true" nature of your god.
why do you keep at the "false opinons" crap? I worded something wrong on a comment on youtube! sorry but my grammer is off sometimes too. its not a big deal. stop trying to make it a big deal.
@jaromsmiss Why? Because you failed to admit it was a mistake in your response, instead you tried to explain it away. In the future if you want an issue dropped due to an error on your part, then it would be best to clearly state your mistake. And I didn't say it was a big deal. Fuck you just like to make shit up don't you... you accuse others of having "false opinions", then you accuse me of being "defensive", and now you accuse me of making a "big deal" out of it. You talk a lot of shit.
@jaromsmiss And here you are again, still talking shit, only now you accuse me of being "mad". You are incapable of sticking to the topic without adding your shit talk. And I find it funny that you, thinking I'm mad, would then laugh at me... when moments before you claimed that you would do what a Christian should do. When did Jesus laugh at someone for being "mad".. book and verse please...
@jaromsmiss I'm having a great day explaining to you how you are a moron, and listening to you try to troll all the while proving that you are wrong about everything you say.
Im laughing at the fact you are cussing at me and calling me a moron. That is pretty funny to me that your getting so angry and heated and Im just chillin and calm.
@jaromsmiss I see that once again you are confused. Talking with you is like talking with a bitter old woman, she can't track well. I did not ask why you were laughing at me, I asked you to show me which verse in the Bible illustrates that's what Jesus does when he thinks someone is mad. And just because I cuss at *fucking* morons like you does not mean I'm mad... you dumbfuck. People cuss all the time, it does not mean they are mad.... Now, prove that Jesus laughs at angry people. I'm waiting.
we obviously are getting no where in this conversation, other than the fact that your calling me names and are mad. its pretty obvious too. Have a great day
@jaromsmiss I already told you I'm having a great day, pointing out you're a Moron. You have avoided every question I sent you, and instead just focus on your opinion. How sad for you to be trying to grow up and have no clue how to communicate.
wow, why would I want to speak to someone who is so disrespecful? im a "dumbfuck" "Fucking moron"? this is more than just cussing. this is downright disrespectful.
@jaromsmiss Of course it's disrespectful, I do not hold you in high regard, you're a cunt and you do not deserve respect, go look the word up and tell me if you REALLY think you deserve respect. But I'm also here to show you that you don't know anything about what you are talking about, which is why you always avoid those questions, and instead focus on my cussing. And why are you replying... you said you were done... remember? Try to pay attention... old woman, can't track.
@jaromsmiss You see.. dumbfuck, you seem to think it's okay to call me "mad" and "angry" and "defensive" making a "big deal" out of nothing. Oh but as soon as I call you a "dumbfuck" and a "moron" then suddenly it's wrong to toss out the insults. Here's a tip for you, if you don't want people to insult you, then perhaps you should not insult them. There is a rule in the Bible.. it's called the "Golden Rule", it's something you obviously don't agree with.
@jaromsmiss lol, funny apology. You are apologizing for my perception of you, not for what you said. So since I've been following the golden rule all this time, I'll give you the same apology you offered me: "I'm sorry that you are unable to comprehend me". *wonders when she will get it*.
@jaromsmiss said "have a great day. you seem to be really big and bad over the keyboard. I wonder if you act this way to people in person?" No, I'm far worse in person, but rarely do people talk shit face to face with me (maybe if you saw me you would see why), most people on youtube are like you... keyboard warriors. Also you have said "have a nice day" now like 4 times... when will you mean it?
I keep saying have a nice day because Im constantly trying to end the conversation. I respect you, as well as everybody. I just want to end this conversation with respect.
@jaromsmiss The word "respect": To admire someone deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements. You cannot respect everyone, or me, because you have no idea what their qualities are. This started on a sour note, and along the way you were a complete jerk. You don't get to be a complete jerk for an hour then at the end of the hour pretend that you were not a jerk and have it all be okay. If you wish to end the conversation, then all you have to do is not reply.
you got offended by me asking you if you were mad? I really didnt mean to be offensive by that, you had come out cussing and being very disrespectful, and I asked "u mad"?
the reason that I was laughing was because I thought it was funny that you were callinge me a moron and telling me to go back to school over something so little
I have seen President monsons house. It is a very moderate size house. He was a very successful man in his life your right. I am sure he has lots of retirement. Yes, he might actually use his money that he earned in his life for relaxation or to be driven around. Again, you say they get allowance that is so much, but you have no facts to back it up. before you make statements make sure they are facts first thats all.
@Ape1nope whats your evidence of this? its simply your opinion. you have no facts. did you ever consider the fact that many of the apostles actually had really good jobs in their life? some were doctors and others were scientists. yes, they have retirement. u dont have to live in a tiny apartment and eat ramen noodles to live off retirement.
If I see an apostle rolling around in a beemer or anything other than the lame toyota camry I will believe this guy but I have met the apostles and they don't make any money. If they did they don't do jack squat with it because they are always traveling talking to missionaries in third world countries
they are given just enought live on so they can do the lords work they do the lords work and the lords only . you will see in the end times and i feel sorry for every one of you . you will not burn but yet i still weep for you
@testskriftene Well, we do our taxes, and an accounting of all our tithes and offerings is provided every year, and it's public info. If they were getting the money themselves, if they were being paid that actual money, it would be known.
@geezmaynard1 The temple is provided for you in the same way a grocery store is provided for you....that's a horrible example. The temple is free to everyone. Not all priesthood holders are given houses, cars, and meal expenses......
you do realize that the money they receive is their own money. they all are retired, they worked their share and saved their money when they got their call they gave that money to the church and the church gives them an allowance each month, you should really fully examine things before you make a judgement on them
@42apostate I need to ask you the same thing, where are your sources exactly I looked all over those websites and they say nothing about what we are talking about. It is done the same way when one prepares to serve a mission, he/she earns the money ( typically 10,000 US) and he turns that money into the church and on a monthly basis he receives some of this money.
If you'll read again my above statement that listed the Deseret News ( LDS owned media) you'll see that I DID give source.
You offered me NOTHING in return to back up YOUR claim of the practice of the Law of Consecration for the General Authorities OR missionaries--the main thing being that General Authorities turn over all their wealth to the Church and get their "stipend" out of THEIR donated funds??
The only sources acceptable are the FPres., 2 Apostles or the Ensign.
also if you know anything about the leaders of the church you would know that they live the the Law of Consecration, if you don't know what that is ( i doubt you do) then look it up, regardless of the fact you miss my point that the money they receive is for them to live off of. worst case senerio the money is still put to real use, they aren't misusing this money, this is my last message, I hope the best for you, god bless you and your family this wonderful thanksgiving holiday
Yes, I DO know about the "Law of Consecration" (I was LDS for 50 years, read theD&C cover to cover a few times as well as Church History) why wouldn't I know it? I know that Joe attempted to get the Church to practice it in 1831. A synonym for LoC was the "United Order"--a total failure (like many other of Joe's projects) and , eventually abandoned.
I'd like to see any evidence that the LoC OR the Un.Order are in force now--at ANY level..
what i find far more funny than the joke, are all the comments full of apologetics for explaining the clearly ridiculous made up crap that all these religions center around. grow up people, its 2011. we have technology far beyond the scope of the obviously bored people that wrote up things like your so called 'holy books. the people who wrote those books are the very same people who thought demons caused sickness and that the earth was flat. seriously, use your brain for a minute people.
@zelphkinderhook it's in preach my gospel chapter 4 under tithing, we teach that local clergy receives no payment before anyone joins our church. Find me a place where it says general authorities do not receive a stipend. This is just ignorance. We're a world wide church that needs to have leaders to run it.
Which means someone who has never heard of Christ in this life or died in infancy or any of the other things that apply to what JS said below will have a chance to accept Christ & his teachings in the spirit world & have the necessary ordinance of baptism (by proxy) to be able to return to live with God. Because God is a just and merciful God who loves his children. For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son...
Let's not ignore Joseph Smith's own words posted by me below. Because the truth is that LDS believe that Catholics, Jews, protestants, JW's, atheist, gays, anyone can be exalted. Which is what I said with no reluctance to share or explain anything because that was the discussion being had. As I stated twice in my previous post proxy work is part of that, not the if they can be part but the how part.
(Words of Joseph Smith) "While one portion of the human race is judging and condemning the other without mercy, the Great Parent of the universe looks upon the whole of the human family with a fatherly care and paternal regard;
He views them as His offspring, and without any of those contracted feelings that influence the children of men, causes "His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." He holds the reins of judgment in His hands; He is a wise Lawgiver, and will judge all men
not according to the narrow, contracted notions of men, but, "according to the deeds done in the body, whether they be good or evil," or whether these deeds were done in England, America, Spain, Turkey, or India. He will judge them, "not according to what they have not, but according to what they have," those who have lived without law, will be judged without law, and those who have a law, will be judged by that law. We need not doubt the wisdom and intelligence of the Great Jehovah;
He will award judgment or mercy to all nations according to their several deserts, their means of obtaining intelligence, the laws by which they are governed, the facilities afforded them of obtaining correct information, and His inscrutable designs in relation to the human family; and when the designs of God shall be made manifest, and the curtain of futurity be withdrawn, we shall all of us eventually have to confess that the Judge of all the earth has done right. (Joseph Smith)
@42apostate - That wasn't the discussion we were having or the citation you were requesting which I have since PM'd you the citation, from the prophet Joseph Smith himself, that backs up everything I said.
Yes, to enter God's Kingdom we have to accept ALL that comes from God (no brainer) whether in this life or the next. But again that wasn't the discussion we were having nor does it change a thing I stated.
@42apostate I really don't know why I have to continually explain this or how you seem to forget so quickly the discussions we have had but the answer to why I won't respond to you is both on this thread and the faith without works thread and has nothing to do with you insisting on facts to back up what I'm saying. It is also on this thread why I wouldn't give those facts and you saying my reasons are something different is one of the lies you are telling.
So many great christians out there who gave there life and their all to following Christ and preaching his word. And then there are those who give the faith a bad name. Interesting that the great ones didn't spend their time bashing other religions but preaching Christ and following in his footsteps and look at the fruit of their labors. Just one more witness that that is the way it's supposed to be.
@mollymu1 You can't say that about all of them, many of them do and their hearts really are in the right place. It is really important not to generalize. That is what they do with us and it is wrong on either side.
@peaceliberty4all Yes I can . All the antis don't care about the Savior really . They are haters . Their hearts have grown cold . We don't go out of our way to attack them on their sites etc. so that is an apple /oranges thing . They generalize about us cause their hearts are full of hate. Anyone who loves the Savior and tries to live like him wouldn't be attacking us in the first place.
If "that's the way it's supposed to be", why would Joseph Smith start bashing on Christians right out of the chute--BEFORE his church was even an organized religion?? He started his tirade against Christians in 1820 calling them "abominations and corrupt" and later when the BoM was published he called them "The Whore of the Earth" and "Babylon the Great" and "Satan's Church" etc., etc.
If Christ was in charge as LDS claim, why would he start right out with the HATE!!
The answer is clear. LDS Inc is a MAN concocted org. ONLY MEN would spew the hate the Mormon Church did toward Xtians. Yet another evidence of the FRAUD of the LDS Ch.
"Cast thy bread upon the water and it will return to you". It's called "KARMA"!!--and we're seeing the effects of Joe's hatred today resting upon HIS own con job-creation--as God promised it would.
Get the hell OUT while you still have functioning brain matter.
@mollymu1 I almost feel bad for them being so bitter towards the church that they feel the need to dedicate so much time and energy to trying to tear it down. That time could put to better use preaching about Christ or other things that would bless people's lives rather than attacking a church that does just that.
@peaceliberty4all They don't care about the Savior . They just want to attack something or otherwise they would be out doing good like you say . When do we ever get on a Baptist site and point fingers. We say we are the only true Church but we don't make a hobby of rediculing others faith . As mentioned in the Articles of Faith . We allow men to worship who what and when they may and deserve the same respect.
@mollymu1 ITA that some don't care about the Savior. I jumped into these threads because of the bickering I saw going on between faiths and simply tried to point out that the behavior on these threads would drive people from God and religion not toward Him and no one was acting like a follower of Christ. I really don't know if they realize that they make themselves and believers look bad or if they are just so intent on their hatred that they don't care. They try to justify themselves by
@mollymu1 saying the Savior was harsh with the Pharisees and Saducees even though it's been repeatedly pointed out that as the Savior he can treat ppl how he sees fit since he knows their thoughts & hearts but He was very clear about how we are to treat each other. I find it interesting that they rarely quote Christ but always quote Paul yet they attack us for putting our prophets before Christ. I kind of got caught up in defending our faith but in a way wish I had stuck to my original purpose.
@peaceliberty4all Good points . Yes the only book in the New Testament they seem to have read is Romans . They don't care about the Savior and his teachings . They just hate the Saviors true Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints . They are working for Satn . But feel we need to do what we do for lurkers . Not the haters . Just saw a video of that Shawn guy with the guy dressed up in Temple clothes . Can you see the Savior pulling a stunt like that with some religion he didn't agree with .
@mollymu1 No. The Savior would never act in such a manner nor did he seek opportunity to attack anyone's beliefs. He rebuked the Ph & Sad for their hard hearts, their judging of him and others, their blindness, pride and their treatment of others. Christ taught to love, to reach out, to set an example, to turn the other cheek, to forgive, to be peacemakers, to be a light to the world and the salt of the earth. No where did he teach to attack, mock, or ridicule anothers beliefs.
@mollymu1 I don't mind anyone disagreeing with us, or pointing things out, or even trying to "save" us. The thing I take issue with is the nasty way some go about it that as I said drives people away and strengthens the beliefs that non-believers have about believers. Anyone who claims to believe in Christ should be striving to bring people to christ not drive them from him and the only way to bring people to Christ is to follow his teachings not through hate and fighting or mudslinging.
Why is it that you can't (or refuse) to see this same flaw (we on YT "treating each other [badly]" when it was YOUR church that treated blacks horribly, not to mention women and gays! You need look no further than your own church and it's high-falutin claims to being Christ-like on these issues. The way women were treated regarding polygamy was HORRIFIC--yet you have the GALL to point that accusatory finger at US!?!?!
You couldn't pay anyone enough to do this . You do it cause you love the Savior Jesus Christ and his sheep , the Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints .
They have to get paid cause they do the work full time . And they are giving up a huge salary they would be making in the private sector . But you know that already . So much for the whole truth .
@mollymu1 But they claim to work for the good of man kind and will not take any pay for their services! So basically your lying to your self, Come on Mollvmu1 U seem like a smart person, why are U in this cult! To tell U the truth I was once in this cult too, but I woke up and saw the church for what it was and it wasn't nor will it ever be the truth, Look at the history of Mormon Church! Why did Joe Smith get killed, why did he cause that printing press to get destory?
@firewings12 They get a living allowance . I had a friend whose Dad was the vice pres of some part of Scott Paper Products who was making over a million a year and quit that job when asked , moved to Utah from Salt Lake City and was paid $70,000 a year as a living allowance . I guess he did it for the money . Moved from Penn.
@mollymu1 It is amazing that people think our leaders do it for the money considering most of them were very successful businessmen before leaving that to dedicate their lives to serving the Lord. And most probably took significant paycuts in doing so like the person you mentioned. It's also amazing to me that people think there is much money left over to line their pockets after all the expenses for building cost and upkeep and missionary work, and church manuals, and activities, and on & on
@peaceliberty4all To tell you the truth I don't think the ones posting on here really think that at all . They are familar with the leaders and know the great caliber of men they are . They just put this knee jerk stuff on to mess with the minds of people looking into the Church of Jesus Christ of LAtter Day Saints . So there normal tactic is to throw out inflamatory mess like this . The guy in the video has been messing on the Church for years . He knows how devoted the leaders are etc.
@peaceliberty4all Another thing . They are being very hypocritical considering how many people on their side of the fence are getting rich doing it .They need to turn their pointing finger back on themselves . Never heard of anything trying to get one of these positions . They get to be home about one day of the week . Monday that's it .
You are making HUGE assumptions on the basis of ZERO personal knowledge--simply repeating what sounded good from another member who ALSO spoke from a position based on preconcieved suppositions.
Be specific. WHO is getting rich? And how did you come by this information.
You aren't "judging" others are you?--violating Christ's prohibition...
All we know for certain is the FACT--that both get paychecks. You want to muddle that fact by introducing irrelevant minutia to the mix.
@42apostate It's fine to judge , just have to do it rightously . Another benefit of being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints . People in our ''preacher '' position don't get paid . Think you don't want to know the truth . It has been explained to you .
Where did I say anything about someone gettting RICH . Said to get gain .
Under WHO'S definition of "righteous"? Yours?? Just being a member of TCOJCOLDS makes one "righteous"?
"Rich"--"gain"? When you have nothing subsantial to say, play word games--that'll distract 'em for awhile...
Most Pastors/Preachers give their full time devotion to leading and nurturing their flock and are given, on average, a VERY small salary. THE ONLY comparable position in the LDS Church are the full time apostles and profits (and Seventies).
Put together a survey to find out what the average FULL TIME Xtian Pastor makes in a year and compare that to the LOW END of the FULL TIME Gen. Authority compensation/"STIPEND", estimated to be above 50K per year for Seventies (much higher for apostles and prophets).
The amount the "bretheren" get is immaterial. (IMO they deserve what they get +!)
THE POINT is that for 180 years the leadership of the LDS Church has badmouthed the Christian Pastors/Preachers for "preaching for filthy lucre", while getting their own paychecks for their religious service. (LDS temple ceremony/play til 1990 even had a Pastor playing the part of "Satan's employee" that said as much!)
THAT is/was THE problem--LDS HYPOCRACY at the highest levels!

This would be a non issue if the missionaries where not handing out cards with 10 reasons your Christian religion is wrong - one being because your pastor makes a living from his/her ministry. Read 1 Corinthians Chapter 9 for biblical council on this matter. This is another sad example of the LDS throwing the first stone, then claiming "persecution" when a rebuttal is given.
jakelbies 1 month ago
@jakelbies um... I don't think those cards exist... However, I think you might be talking about cards that say 10 points to why the LDS church is true. But I do not believe that they have cards that say 10 reasons why your religion is false.

With all due respect, what reputable source do you get this information from?--LDS. ORG or F.A.I.R. LDS. org?
Or something someone said at church and you repeat as if it were true?
I got my information from Church owned Deseret News.
What makes you think I havn't "fully examined things"?
If the LDS Church were open about it's financials we'd know for sure, wouldn't we?
42apostate 3 months ago
@42apostate I need to ask you the same thing, where are your sources exactly I looked all over those websites and they say nothing about what we are talking about. It is done the same way when one prepares to serve a mission, he/she earns the money ( typically 10,000 US) and he turns that money into the church and on a monthly basis he receives some of this money.
animeWORLDuser 3 months ago
@animeWORLDuser

I'd like to see any evidence that the LoC OR the Un.Order are in force now--at ANY level..

we teach that the local administration is lay clergy. get it straight.

(Words of Joseph Smith) "While one portion of the human race is judging and condemning the other without mercy, the Great Parent of the universe looks upon the whole of the human family with a fatherly care and paternal regard;

He views them as His offspring, and without any of those contracted feelings that influence the children of men, causes "His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." He holds the reins of judgment in His hands; He is a wise Lawgiver, and will judge all men
peaceliberty4all 6 months ago
not according to the narrow, contracted notions of men, but, "according to the deeds done in the body, whether they be good or evil," or whether these deeds were done in England, America, Spain, Turkey, or India. He will judge them, "not according to what they have not, but according to what they have," those who have lived without law, will be judged without law, and those who have a law, will be judged by that law. We need not doubt the wisdom and intelligence of the Great Jehovah;

@peaceliberty4all Yes the anti s don't know or love the Savior . They just hate us and love money they make and /or have an ax to grind .
mollymu1 6 months ago
@mollymu1 You can't say that about all of them, many of them do and their hearts really are in the right place. It is really important not to generalize. That is what they do with us and it is wrong on either side.
peaceliberty4all 6 months ago
@peaceliberty4all Yes I can . All the antis don't care about the Savior really . They are haters . Their hearts have grown cold . We don't go out of our way to attack them on their sites etc. so that is an apple /oranges thing . They generalize about us cause their hearts are full of hate. Anyone who loves the Savior and tries to live like him wouldn't be attacking us in the first place.

@peaceliberty4all
If "that's the way it's supposed to be", why would Joseph Smith start bashing on Christians right out of the chute--BEFORE his church was even an organized religion??

@mollymu1 I almost feel bad for them being so bitter towards the church that they feel the need to dedicate so much time and energy to trying to tear it down. That time could put to better use preaching about Christ or other things that would bless people's lives rather than attacking a church that does just that.
peaceliberty4all 6 months ago
@peaceliberty4all They don't care about the Savior . They just want to attack something or otherwise they would be out doing good like you say . When do we ever get on a Baptist site and point fingers. We say we are the only true Church but we don't make a hobby of rediculing others faith . As mentioned in the Articles of Faith . We allow men to worship who what and when they may and deserve the same respect.
mollymu1 6 months ago
@mollymu1 ITA that some don't care about the Savior. I jumped into these threads because of the bickering I saw going on between faiths and simply tried to point out that the behavior on these threads would drive people from God and religion not toward Him and no one was acting like a follower of Christ. I really don't know if they realize that they make themselves and believers look bad or if they are just so intent on their hatred that they don't care. They try to justify themselves by
peaceliberty4all 6 months ago
@mollymu1 saying the Savior was harsh with the Pharisees and Saducees even though it's been repeatedly pointed out that as the Savior he can treat ppl how he sees fit since he knows their thoughts & hearts but He was very clear about how we are to treat each other. I find it interesting that they rarely quote Christ but always quote Paul yet they attack us for putting our prophets before Christ. I kind of got caught up in defending our faith but in a way wish I had stuck to my original purpose.
peaceliberty4all 6 months ago
@peaceliberty4all Good points . Yes the only book in the New Testament they seem to have read is Romans . They don't care about the Savior and his teachings . They just hate the Saviors true Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints . They are working for Satn . But feel we need to do what we do for lurkers . Not the haters . Just saw a video of that Shawn guy with the guy dressed up in Temple clothes . Can you see the Savior pulling a stunt like that with some religion he didn't agree with .
mollymu1 6 months ago
@mollymu1 No. The Savior would never act in such a manner nor did he seek opportunity to attack anyone's beliefs. He rebuked the Ph & Sad for their hard hearts, their judging of him and others, their blindness, pride and their treatment of others. Christ taught to love, to reach out, to set an example, to turn the other cheek, to forgive, to be peacemakers, to be a light to the world and the salt of the earth. No where did he teach to attack, mock, or ridicule anothers beliefs.
peaceliberty4all 6 months ago
@mollymu1 I don't mind anyone disagreeing with us, or pointing things out, or even trying to "save" us. The thing I take issue with is the nasty way some go about it that as I said drives people away and strengthens the beliefs that non-believers have about believers. Anyone who claims to believe in Christ should be striving to bring people to christ not drive them from him and the only way to bring people to Christ is to follow his teachings not through hate and fighting or mudslinging.

@peaceliberty4all
Amazing!
Shame...
Clean up YOUR OWN game first...

You couldn't pay anyone enough to do this . You do it cause you love the Savior Jesus Christ and his sheep , the Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints .
mollymu1 6 months ago
They have to get paid cause they do the work full time . And they are giving up a huge salary they would be making in the private sector . But you know that already . So much for the whole truth .
mollymu1 6 months ago
@mollymu1 But they claim to work for the good of man kind and will not take any pay for their services! So basically your lying to your self, Come on Mollvmu1 U seem like a smart person, why are U in this cult! To tell U the truth I was once in this cult too, but I woke up and saw the church for what it was and it wasn't nor will it ever be the truth, Look at the history of Mormon Church! Why did Joe Smith get killed, why did he cause that printing press to get destory?
firewings12 6 months ago
@firewings12 They get a living allowance . I had a friend whose Dad was the vice pres of some part of Scott Paper Products who was making over a million a year and quit that job when asked , moved to Utah from Salt Lake City and was paid $70,000 a year as a living allowance . I guess he did it for the money . Moved from Penn.

@mollymu1 It is amazing that people think our leaders do it for the money considering most of them were very successful businessmen before leaving that to dedicate their lives to serving the Lord. And most probably took significant paycuts in doing so like the person you mentioned. It's also amazing to me that people think there is much money left over to line their pockets after all the expenses for building cost and upkeep and missionary work, and church manuals, and activities, and on & on
peaceliberty4all 6 months ago
@peaceliberty4all To tell you the truth I don't think the ones posting on here really think that at all . They are familar with the leaders and know the great caliber of men they are . They just put this knee jerk stuff on to mess with the minds of people looking into the Church of Jesus Christ of LAtter Day Saints . So there normal tactic is to throw out inflamatory mess like this . The guy in the video has been messing on the Church for years . He knows how devoted the leaders are etc.
mollymu1 6 months ago
@mollymu1
Shawn also knows how "devoted" Muslims are to Allah and Muhammad.
Proving what...??
Is devotion supposed to be a measure of something?
42apostate 6 months ago
@peaceliberty4all Another thing . They are being very hypocritical considering how many people on their side of the fence are getting rich doing it .They need to turn their pointing finger back on themselves . Never heard of anything trying to get one of these positions . They get to be home about one day of the week . Monday that's it .
mollymu1 6 months ago
@mollymu1
42apostate 6 months ago
@42apostate It's fine to judge , just have to do it rightously . Another benefit of being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints . People in our ''preacher '' position don't get paid . Think you don't want to know the truth . It has been explained to you .
Where did I say anything about someone gettting RICH . Said to get gain .
mollymu1 6 months ago
@mollymu1
42apostate 6 months ago
@mollymu1
Why don't you do something worthwhile?
Put together a survey to find out what the average FULL TIME Xtian Pastor makes in a year and compare that to the LOW END of the FULL TIME Gen. Authority compensation/"STIPEND", estimated to be above 50K per year for Seventies (much higher for apostles and prophets).
42apostate 6 months ago
@mollymu1
"Lv'ng allowance".
