None of these fixes helped me, unfortunately. However, over at NewVegasNexus is something called Fake Fullscreen Windowed, classed as a Utility, cleared up my audio lag issues. Might work for others, if nothing else does. It's a minor performance hit for my poor system, but it did wonders for the sound problem.
Thanks man, not only it fixed the sound issue that I've had forever and it really hindered my gameplay, it also apparently made my F:NV load faster, and yes I took the time to write that just 'cause I'm so thankful
Well... FFDS didnt help me, I even uninstalled all the codecs. No effect. SH patch helped a lot, but still some missing sounds once in a while. :/ Not to mention huge fps loss. Speakers - nope. Task priority helped as always, but I`ve been using it since the day I got my hands on NV.
Well, since I use XP, there is no need for Vista patch... Still it was worth a shot! So thanks. And for tweaks as well. Great site! Cheers!
@Jedguy10 Well, maybe you will learn how to do it,IF YOU READ THE DAMN DESCRIPTION! Description isn't there only as a decoration for the video you know?
Thank you! This helped me fix the most annoying bug I've had so far, whenever I opened a container, looted a corpse, opened pip boy or went to another area, my radio would stutter for a good two to three seconds before returning to normal.
would you happen to know how to fix the glitch where the characters dont have voices? like they dont even move their mouths. The only character that talks is willow. Even when i start new game it doesnt work. i have already tried configuring speaker settings but nothing works. Please HELP i would be forever thankful
@TheWitcherZ yes i did, i tried the speaker thing on another video, i commented on that video but havnt got a reply in a while. I just commented to see if you would know how to fix. Sorry for any inconvenience im just desperate to fix this glitch, it ruins the game.
@SIKxxDaRRiAn808 Have you tried patching the game to the latest version? Are you using any mods? Oh,and sorry for checking, but have you tried increasing fallout new vegas priority in the task manager to above normal or high (Fix 4)? Sorry for being rude previously , but the thing is I highly doubt these fixes, especially the second one, will work out for any other bugs than sound delay itself, which I stated in the description.
@SIKxxDaRRiAn808 thats a problem with suround sound, change ur speaker setting to stereo, or make sure ur audio device is set up as surround sound, eather or
It worked for me so thank you good sir but a couple of things. One if you plan to use this until a fix comes out that I don't see coming whatsoever then you can't use any graphical mods for NV because dll file that comes with it will be overwritten and you will have the same issue again. Is there a way to work around this or can your dll not be overwritten period ?
@ThwartAbyss54 It's kinda lame that Bethesda simply overlooked probably one of the most serious bugs regarding Fallout :NV...I doubt they'll ever fix this.
@ethan0mac Yeah, you're right i made a mistake there,Obsidian is the developer, and Bethesda is the publisher, anyhow, this should be fixed as soon as possible, not to mention the majority of other bugs.
for some reason audio lagged and npc's were glitched a little, and Intro vid glitched out so couldn't even get past it lol. But only when in fullscreen.
This is on an older nVidia 9500Gt 1gb. Fallout 3 worked excellent with no extra work required.
Used 'Fix 2' and now works perfectly. Thanx for the vid.
I have fallout new vegas, got swift shader, 3d analyzer, yet the game won't go load, I can see the intro when you start a new game but the game itself won't load, any ideas am I missing another program, is there another program...

@seth577777 I dont quite understand what are you talking about.I have a single core proccessor and I completed the game without any technical problems. If you have problems with low frame rate,I don't think this video will help you, because as I stated,it is for fiixing "AUDIO LAG/DELAY" issues only.
will this work on windows 7 home premium. i know mine has only one proccessor. it rewuires 2 proccessors, but im wondering if there is some way i can fix mine so i can still play fallout new vegas on the pc with no lag and only one proccessor.
@PixelatedHatsuneMiku Lol,audio/sound no difference (in this case).Make sure you applied the patch correctly (I added on how to do it in the description)
Just one question,bro...I extracted all files from solution 2 to main New Vegas folder
(where the exe files are) including one file from ATI folder (I have 4670 model).
I have letters in upper corner saying "patch 1.1 something.." My question is:Did I do
everything right? Should all files from patch folder must be transfered to main NV folder combined with graphic card file? It fixed my audio delay bug and everything is okay so far,but I don't want to bump on some side effects.
@Darkdodge You did everything right, and the only side effect that I know of (which can occur in quite rare cases) is a slight FPS drop, and that's the reason I posted the link to the tweaking guide :)
I'm having a really frustrating issue with my audio. There's no stuttering or sync problems; The volume keeps adjusting at random moments. I can be the street one moment and it's fine, then when i walk into a building it goes really quiet. I walk back outside and it goes back to normal - it's got me beat. I've updated the game, my sound card drivers, tweaked my codecs (I'm an IT tech and usually fix my own problems before posting comments) , and no luck. Any help?
@nookie077 I've seen that problem somewhere already, can't remember when exactly, but i think it has something to do with windows volume slider going randomly up and down in the taskbar or something,i'm not so sure.Have you tried the Silent Hill Homecoming v11 patch?
Well i tried the patch and it didn't turn well , for some reason , when i start New Vegas only the sound is playing , no screen.I guess the patch doesn't work on everybody or maybe i did something wrong , don't know.I had to uninstall it in order to play New Vegas.
actually i tried again to solve the sound problem with the patch , the patch didn't make any problems i was able to run the game no problem but the sound is still messed up.
@TheSilent12 Tell me this,on the first loading screen, when you enter the game,in the upper left corner,do you see something like "enbdev silent hill homecoming v11 patch" (can''t remember exact title) written with white letters. The title should be there if the patch is applied (correctly).Sorry for asking about this one,but gotta make sure that even the basics are done properly :)
@TheWitcherZ yeah , on the upper left corner in white letters something ''Silent hill v11 patch'' something like that...anyway since i have 2 sound cards on my PC , i wasn't using the integrated but i installed a new one , however it appears that its not that powerful sound card so i thought that it my be the reason so today i switched to the other one which is ''INTEL 82801 HD sound card'' and i installed the latest patch , it fixed everything the sound is perfect , no lag no delays.
@TheSilent12 Depends, funny things is,some people even use this to improve fps.By the way,you can always try the patch out,it's not like it's unremovable, there are instructions for uninstallation in the description after all...
Do you want a big performance boost in your pc games?
You should overclock your graphics card. You just need to tweak some simple settings, and you will get a huge boost in the quality, and the speed of your games! Get the guide which tells you how to do it, 100% free, 100% safe from:
"If this fixed the sound LAG/DELAY,the fix done what it should, but alas the issue about "non-talking" npc's is not know bug to me,and i don't think these fixes will work out for any other kind of bugs/lags/glitches than delay itself"
well since you are doing this can you help me with this one problom im have? it's when the game freezes and when it runs again there is no sound and it still freezes im trying to find out what to do but i spent most of my do doing so and nothing came up... plz help me
@mitchonfire3 I don't quite understand the problem you have, but from what it looks like, you'll need an FPS drop fix, which also removes freezing from the game, but this is the video for completely other issue.Just try searching Fallout New Vegas FPS Bug on Google.
@distrugetimasoneria Well,if you've read the description, you would know that you need to leave PC specs in the comment as well, and you could be more detailed about the problem, and the fixes you've applied.
@TheWitcherZ The game its ok now.I have used all the 3 lag fixes from your clip, the game it`s running ok now but i don`t know wich one has helping me,i think it was the FFD show.Thnx a lot man!I have a AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.21 Ghz 2 Gb RAM and PX9600 GTNvidia 512
Awesome your guidance has helped immensley! The audio is in real time and not lagging anymore. I only added the game launcher file to the fddshow list and the silent hill patch works. Kudos x's million! Now let's go kick some NEW VEGAS ASS!
@jr2nd that's because the fix also adjusts ur video settings. But you can tweak these in the options menu of FalloutNVLauncher. The less demanding, the faster it will run.
yo witcher, I tried everything and the FDshow thing didn't work for me, but the enbseries silent hill mod did. The only problem is that with the enb mod, my FPS is much worse than it is without it. Anyway I can fix that?
Nothing works for me, I had similar problems in Fallout 3. No matter what I do, the Pipboy radio never works, audio always sounds choppy. Luckily that was it, but in New Vegas all the audio sounds like that...really pissed about it.
@TheWitcherZ Ok I have a dell xps 410 running vista premium. 3 GB of memory, intel Quad Q9650 @ 3 GHZ. Sound card is a Creative SB X-FI Xtrememusic and graphics card is a Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS. Both of em have the latest drivers. And yes, I have tried turning off ALL of the vista BS like aero and such.
@hattrickster33 Your PC is excellent and should run Fallout:NV without problems, now let's skip to some "obvious questions":
1.Have you completely checked the video description?
2.Tried setting thread procces priority to High or Above Normal?
3.What sound problem do you experience specificaly, sound delay,or as you mentioned choppy sound?(I'm asking because these fixes are intended specificaly for sound delay bug,but "should" fix other bugs as well)
@TheWitcherZ The first two I have done. As for #3, the main problem I'm having is with the pipboy radio. If I turn it on it works great but once I exit the pipboy screen the music becomes choppy. Sometimes (randomly) it also makes the rest of the sound choppy. The Silenthill fix seems to have worked ok, as far as normal sound goes, but once I turn on the pipboy radio, the shit hits the fan. Any idea what could be causing this?
@TheWitcherZ All i have is when i go in the game start to play when i shoot after like 5-10 sec the sound come up and i tried everything and nothin helped...
@WarFighter112 Then I really don't know how to help you...PC specs are something every owner should know,it's the most basic thing, wheter you use PC for gaming/fun or something a bit more complex.I mean, how do you know you meet the requirements for certain game,if you don't know what your PC can handle and what it can't.Surely you know someone who can look it up for you...otherwise I can't help you much, but you can at least tell me which operating sistem you have(Windows XP,Vista,Windows 7...)
@WarFighter112 Ok,now,do you have all the latest drivers installed for them? Also, did you tried running Fallout, and setting it's priority to Above Normal or High?(check description)
And,make sure your memory on HDD(hard disk drive) is not filled up to max, because that can also cause sound delay(if it is try clearing up a bit of unnecessary stuff).
@TheWitcherZ Aim actually not sure if i have the latest drivers installed , and i tried switching from high to ultra , normal , low.... didn't work , i also tried running in window mode but tht also didnt work.. =(
@WarFighter112 Hmm,when you enter the game,on the very first loading screen,do you see "ENB Series v0.075 Silent Hill Homecoming Fix 10" typed in upper left corner of your screen?
@WarFighter112 Then i know what's the problem...You didn't installed the patch corectly.Once patch is "properly" installed/extracted ,the letters i shown you should pop out every time on the first loading screen, when you enter the game.Really,if you can't do it right,i'm pretty sure you have a bro, friend or someone who can help you out,it's not that difficult :)
@Scorch052 If it fixed the sound LAG/DELAY,the fix done what it should, but alas the issue with "non-talking" npc's is not know bug to me,and i don't think these fixes will work out for any other kind of bugs/lags/glitches than delay itself. And about the sound folder uploading,I really can't see the point of that, you could just reinstall...Uploading 2.5 GB(sound+voices size) can really cause a headache, just for the reason it's pointless because there is as i said reinstall option...
@lukajerman Please,i'll say this one last time...This video is about AUDIO LAG ISSUE IN FALLOUT NEW VEGAS.And only for that.I've checked your video, about the "don't send error" you receive when entering fallout, but this is the fix for completely other issue than that...
Does your graphic card has pixel shader version 3.0,and do you meet the minimal Fallout New Vegas sistem requirements (I ask because game can be played sometimes even if your sistem is below the minimal specs). The problem you have can usually occur on older ATI cards, but I don't know for Nvidia ones. Also if you haven't already,be sure to read the description regarding ATI and Nvidia folders in Fix 2 section.
@TheWitcherZ i actually dont know. I have a Radeon X800 XT. I used to be able to play on medium with no sound lag, no lag, and no texture glitches. I stopped playing for about 3 weeks and when i started playing again i got the sound glitch.
@Spetsnaz1220 Well, one guy had the same problem as you with Radeon X700,so the cards are pretty much alike..I've checked your graphic card specs, and you don't have shader version 3.0,and that's the problem which causes messed up colors. You could try deleting Silent Hill patch, and downloading the official one.If you have a digital version of the game from Steam, you should be able to download the newest official patch from them,if you have retail or pirated version, there are patches on torrent.
@SidewindR14K What about audio lag?Do you still experience it?
Also, just to "point the obvious" be carefull, because this video is about "Audio/Sound Lag" not the FPS drops in the game itself. There are separate fix for FPS problems, and these are only for sound problems and bugs.
fucking nothing worked for me. i am well within the specs. the dll doesnt work, i dont have the fshow thing, no framerate fixes worked. nothing worked.
the game keeps stuttering every 5 seconds. im so pissed off....
I found this elsewhere but it amazingly does work perfect. So even though I didn't hear about it from you, thanks for helping everyone whom did find it here.
Thank you :) this fixed my audio bug/lag, but insteed it kinda reduced my shader on grass, trees etc etc.. But, I can live with that until Bethseda/Obsidian releases an offical patch.. I have a NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 Graphic Card and can play on High settings with no shader bugs.
i did all 3 fixes now sound is awesome and tnx for that but my game now has about 15fps and it had 30-40 fps can you help me with that?my pc config is :
Intel Core Quad 2.8Ghz
nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX 512Mb
Ram 8Gb
i even tried to low the graphics but its same fps about 15fps it should go like it was about 30-40 fps and i think my pc is good enough to play it on max settings so could you please help me?TnX :))
@yoscruto1595 I really don't know how to help you :S Some people do experience other problems ingame if the patch is applied, wheter audio is fixed or not.Yes,your pc can run it at max with no problem, but the patch itself causes some conflicts unknown to me.If you want to remove the patch just delete d3d9.dll file from fallout nv instalation folder.I'm sorry this didn't worked for you :( You'll have to wait for patch.
@TheWitcherZ ive deleted some files in local disk c cuz i had just 10Gb free space of total 500Gb in local disk c and d........now it goes at about 25-30fps i hope this helps some1 else to :))
i don'y see other people have this problem, but here it is:
fix2 works perfectly for me, but there is one huge problem. when i use it, every time i shoot someone in the head my pc reboots... sometimes i get reboots even when i hit something else. my pc is pretty old one and i think that it's not full compatible with this fix, but maybe you know some way to make it work. here's my pc specyfications:
@veldrin Have you checked the description regarding the fix 2?It is not included in the video, because i discovered it at the later date, but you should try using edit 2,and use the file from ATI folder(because you have ATI video card). You'll see what i mean when you read edit 2.
Fuck it. Nothing works. This entire game is the most AMAZING PILE OF BUGS I have ever laid eyes upon. HOW THE FUCK DID THIS MAKE IT THROUGH TESTING?? HOLY FUCK.

@redspicer Then im just gonna quote myself again:
"If this fixed the sound LAG/DELAY,the fix done what it should, but alas the issue about "non-talking" npc's is not know bug to me,and i don't think these fixes will work out for any other kind of bugs/lags/glitches than delay itself"

well since you are doing this can you help me with this one problom im have? it's when the game freezes and when it runs again there is no sound and it still freezes im trying to find out what to do but i spent most of my do doing so and nothing came up... plz help me
mitchonfire3 1 year ago
@mitchonfire3 I don't quite understand the problem you have, but from what it looks like, you'll need an FPS drop fix, which also removes freezing from the game, but this is the video for completely other issue.Just try searching Fallout New Vegas FPS Bug on Google.

@TheWitcherZ The game its ok now.I have used all the 3 lag fixes from your clip, the game it`s running ok now but i don`t know wich one has helping me,i think it was the FFD show.Thnx a lot man!I have a AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.21 Ghz 2 Gb RAM and PX9600 GTNvidia 512

cheers the silenthill fix worked! but game is a lil slower now.
jr2nd 1 year ago
@jr2nd that's because the fix also adjusts ur video settings. But you can tweak these in the options menu of FalloutNVLauncher. The less demanding, the faster it will run.
FabricatedLife 1 year ago
@FabricatedLife my setting were bare minimum before i tried it and it was just playable, so its not like i could make it any lower
jr2nd 1 year ago
yo witcher, I tried everything and the FDshow thing didn't work for me, but the enbseries silent hill mod did. The only problem is that with the enb mod, my FPS is much worse than it is without it. Anyway I can fix that?
DerpesSimplex 1 year ago
@DerpesSimplex I've heard about this from very few people, but alas I really don't know what or why it sometimes causes FPS drop :S
You could try modifying the .ini file for performance increase.Just google "Fallout New Vegas .Ini" and you'll find the tweaking guide.

Nothing works for me, I had similar problems in Fallout 3. No matter what I do, the Pipboy radio never works, audio always sounds choppy. Luckily that was it, but in New Vegas all the audio sounds like that...really pissed about it.
hattrickster33 1 year ago
@hattrickster33 Can you please post your PC specs?
TheWitcherZ 1 year ago
@TheWitcherZ Ok I have a dell xps 410 running vista premium. 3 GB of memory, intel Quad Q9650 @ 3 GHZ. Sound card is a Creative SB X-FI Xtrememusic and graphics card is a Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS. Both of em have the latest drivers. And yes, I have tried turning off ALL of the vista BS like aero and such.
hattrickster33 1 year ago
@hattrickster33 Your PC is excellent and should run Fallout:NV without problems, now let's skip to some "obvious questions":
1.Have you completely checked the video description?
2.Tried setting thread procces priority to High or Above Normal?
3.What sound problem do you experience specificaly, sound delay,or as you mentioned choppy sound?(I'm asking because these fixes are intended specificaly for sound delay bug,but "should" fix other bugs as well)
TheWitcherZ 1 year ago
@TheWitcherZ The first two I have done. As for #3, the main problem I'm having is with the pipboy radio. If I turn it on it works great but once I exit the pipboy screen the music becomes choppy. Sometimes (randomly) it also makes the rest of the sound choppy. The Silenthill fix seems to have worked ok, as far as normal sound goes, but once I turn on the pipboy radio, the shit hits the fan. Any idea what could be causing this?

@WarFighter112 Can you post your PC specs?
TheWitcherZ 1 year ago
@TheWitcherZ wa is PC specs ? :D:D soz im kinda noob when we r talkin about pc system...
WarFighter112 1 year ago
@WarFighter112
-Your processor manufacturer/model,it's core speed/ammount of cores?
-Graphic card clock speed/frequency,memory,manufacturer and model?
-Motherboard (model and manufacturer)
-Sound Card (model and manufacturer)
-Operating system
-HD memory ammount
Now,tell me the problem you specificaly experience:
-Sound/audio delay (when you shoot from a gun, sound is not instant,it plays like 10 seconds later)?
-Any other sound bugs than delay?
TheWitcherZ 1 year ago
@TheWitcherZ All i have is when i go in the game start to play when i shoot after like 5-10 sec the sound come up and i tried everything and nothin helped...
WarFighter112 1 year ago
@WarFighter112 Ok,so you have sound delay problem, and what about PC specs? :D
If you don't know them, there is some software which can scan your PC and show you all components such as for example:SIV(System Information Viewer).
TheWitcherZ 1 year ago
@TheWitcherZ i downloaded the SIV but i have no idea wa do i have to look up in there.. there is soo meny things
WarFighter112 1 year ago
@WarFighter112 Then I really don't know how to help you...PC specs are something every owner should know,it's the most basic thing, wheter you use PC for gaming/fun or something a bit more complex.I mean, how do you know you meet the requirements for certain game,if you don't know what your PC can handle and what it can't.Surely you know someone who can look it up for you...otherwise I can't help you much, but you can at least tell me which operating sistem you have(Windows XP,Vista,Windows 7...)
TheWitcherZ 1 year ago
@TheWitcherZ well i have 2.25 GB ram, Ati radeon HD 4600 series video card, 4Cpu 3.00GHZ intel(r) pentimum(r) . Thtz all i know :D
WarFighter112 1 year ago
@WarFighter112 Ok,now,do you have all the latest drivers installed for them? Also, did you tried running Fallout, and setting it's priority to Above Normal or High?(check description)
And,make sure your memory on HDD(hard disk drive) is not filled up to max, because that can also cause sound delay(if it is try clearing up a bit of unnecessary stuff).
TheWitcherZ 1 year ago
@TheWitcherZ Aim actually not sure if i have the latest drivers installed , and i tried switching from high to ultra , normal , low.... didn't work , i also tried running in window mode but tht also didnt work.. =(
WarFighter112 1 year ago
@WarFighter112 Hmm,when you enter the game,on the very first loading screen,do you see "ENB Series v0.075 Silent Hill Homecoming Fix 10" typed in upper left corner of your screen?
TheWitcherZ 1 year ago
@TheWitcherZ Nop..
WarFighter112 1 year ago
@WarFighter112 Then i know what's the problem...You didn't installed the patch corectly.Once patch is "properly" installed/extracted ,the letters i shown you should pop out every time on the first loading screen, when you enter the game.Really,if you can't do it right,i'm pretty sure you have a bro, friend or someone who can help you out,it's not that difficult :)

Scorch052 1 year ago
@Scorch052 If it fixed the sound LAG/DELAY,the fix done what it should, but alas the issue with "non-talking" npc's is not know bug to me,and i don't think these fixes will work out for any other kind of bugs/lags/glitches than delay itself. And about the sound folder uploading,I really can't see the point of that, you could just reinstall...Uploading 2.5 GB(sound+voices size) can really cause a headache, just for the reason it's pointless because there is as i said reinstall option...

hey can you help me out? If i install the silent hill fix it fixes the sound delay but everything is like rainbow colored and messed up
Spetsnaz1220 1 year ago
@Spetsnaz1220
TheWitcherZ 1 year ago
@TheWitcherZ i actually dont know. I have a Radeon X800 XT. I used to be able to play on medium with no sound lag, no lag, and no texture glitches. I stopped playing for about 3 weeks and when i started playing again i got the sound glitch.
Spetsnaz1220 1 year ago
@Spetsnaz1220 Well, one guy had the same problem as you with Radeon X700,so the cards are pretty much alike..I've checked your graphic card specs, and you don't have shader version 3.0,and that's the problem which causes messed up colors. You could try deleting Silent Hill patch, and downloading the official one.If you have a digital version of the game from Steam, you should be able to download the newest official patch from them,if you have retail or pirated version, there are patches on torrent.
TheWitcherZ 1 year ago
This lag is pissing me off aye, the game recommends ultra for me i put it on high. i9 get like 50 - 70fps but just randomly it goes down 20 its bs.
something is up cause my system is way over recommended requirements
SidewindR14K 1 year ago
@SidewindR14K What about audio lag?Do you still experience it?
Also, just to "point the obvious" be carefull, because this video is about "Audio/Sound Lag" not the FPS drops in the game itself. There are separate fix for FPS problems, and these are only for sound problems and bugs.

Yo mate, thx for the fixes it works now!!!!! about fukin time someone posted this video, anyways thx again!!!

Setting thread priority solved the problem for me, awesome !
To automatize this, you can create a new text file in the FalloutNV.exe directory, type the following inside : start/HIGH FalloutNV.exe
Now save and rename this file fallout.bat. You can create a shortcut on your desktop, it will start the game directly with high priority.

i did all 3 fixes now sound is awesome and tnx for that but my game now has about 15fps and it had 30-40 fps can you help me with that?my pc config is :
Intel Core Quad 2.8Ghz
nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX 512Mb
Ram 8Gb
i even tried to low the graphics but its same fps about 15fps it should go like it was about 30-40 fps and i think my pc is good enough to play it on max settings so could you please help me?TnX :))
yoscruto1595 1 year ago
@yoscruto1595 I really don't know how to help you :S Some people do experience other problems ingame if the patch is applied, wheter audio is fixed or not.Yes,your pc can run it at max with no problem, but the patch itself causes some conflicts unknown to me.If you want to remove the patch just delete d3d9.dll file from fallout nv instalation folder.I'm sorry this didn't worked for you :( You'll have to wait for patch.

i don'y see other people have this problem, but here it is:
fix2 works perfectly for me, but there is one huge problem. when i use it, every time i shoot someone in the head my pc reboots... sometimes i get reboots even when i hit something else. my pc is pretty old one and i think that it's not full compatible with this fix, but maybe you know some way to make it work. here's my pc specyfications:
proc: AMD athlon XP 3200+
mthr board: Epox 8rda3+
grafic card: Radeon x1950 pro

@veldrin Have you checked the description regarding the fix 2?It is not included in the video, because i discovered it at the later date, but you should try using edit 2,and use the file from ATI folder(because you have ATI video card). You'll see what i mean when you read edit 2.
