  • amazing car gotta 86 IROC my self

  • @86IROCZ86 Lucky guy! I really like the IROC's.

  • I remember it was this exact video i saw about a year or two ago that made me want a third gen camaro as my first car. and here i am today with a 1988 camaro that im currently working on :)

  • @gangstapanda102 That's awesome! I would love to see pictures/video of your car.

  • @brnagn76 just uploaded a video on my channel :)

  • i've got an 88 and I put a rear end from a 1997 banshee firebird with posi and disc brakes also its around 4 inchs wider it gives it a really nice stance and it bolts right in I also have a 86 iroc with a 5.0 tuneport and it came with posi and disc brakes from the factory nice cars and soon they will go up in value I like yours it came out nice and it looks good with no ground effects

  • Im happy to see sumbody taking a old car n taking car and redoing it to b better

  • z28s are one of the coolist designs ever created look like 160 standing still

  • nice i have a 86 berlinetta not bad for $1200 just needs new door pins.

  • cool rims.

  • Good job man........!!

  • You didnt dump the rear end set-up for a Borg Warner ?

  • i also have a berlinetta!!! but i would like 2 know if u can switch the front bumper 2 a z28 bumper of the same year by the way mine is a 82 plz awnser it would b very helpfull

  • @abearmuthamutha They will interchange. The only problem is that the later Z28 front fascias (86-92) have ground effects. If you install the 86-92 Z28 fascia without the ground effects, it looks like something is missing. If you install it with the ground effects, then the rest of the car needs the ground effects (in my opinion). You may want to look in to using 82-84 Z28 fascia w/o the ground effects. I think that would look good. I hope this helps.

  • thanx alot!! it was of much help !!! btw great job with the car i wish i can someday make mine look like urs

  • whats the song?!?

  • @RicerEater1978 It is "Once Knew You" by Jeremy Kay

  • Was this a base coat clear or single stage paint job?

Was it color buffed as well?

    Beautiful Third Gen. :)

  • @0Theblackproject0 Thanks for the compliment. The car was painted with basecoat/clearcoat and was buffed. After the paint fully cured, I hit a few spots with a Porter Cable 7424 DA buffer and applied Zaino show car polish.

  • @0Theblackproject0 Thanks for the compliment. It is base coat/clear coat and it was buffed out. I have also buffed individual spots with a Porter Cable 7424 DA buffer and have applied Zaino show car polish to it.

  • @brnagn76 how much was the restoration? and were those seats out of a newer camaro?

  • stock rims look better

  • i have a 1988 camaro convertible that i am restoring by myself and im 14.....any tips?

  • @kennyv220 Do it right...not right now. :) Do your research and don't cut corners for the sake of time. If you can find someone near you that is experience with the 82-92 F-bodies and is willing to mentor you, that would help a lot also.

  • @brnagn76 thanks....

  • what was that goop like stuff that you used at 2:06 ? and what why did you use it? thanks,

  • @paintballkiller54 its car sealnt...it comes on the car when it comes out of the factory and just reassures the spot welds that were put on to it...

  • @kennyv220 AH, ok. i was thinking it was some sort of waterproofing.

    thanks!

  • Nice restoration man.

Any idea if the 80s models came in stick?

  • @VSnip3rzV Yes you can. I used to own an 87 Camaro with a 5 speed. It was a blast to drive.

  • Lucky guy lol

one of my dream..twin turbo Camero

  • Nice looking maro!

  • awesome car. i got the 85 camaro to

  • Wow, amazing work. I am working on a 83 sport coupe that used to be my cousin's, but it will not be anything close to as good looking as this!

  • great restoration! but the $65,000 Q is ..is this car still in this shape now???

  • @jimP71 It actually is in this same shape. She drives it a couple of times/month during the summer and it stays under a car cover in the garage the rest of the time. It took her a little while to get comfortable driving it again, but she does well now.

  • Its nice to see a berlinetta every once in a while and this is probably the nicest one i've seen looks great, like the picture @ 3:27 paint looks good

  • I bought a 1985 too when I was in high school. Great slideshow. Makes my wish I would have kept it... Looks good, nice work.

  • Great job on the rebuild I'm in the process of doing my 1990 camaro check out my video camaroking90. Let me know what you think.

  • Nice lookin car mate. Real good job.

  • badass pic of the camaro @ 3:11

  • Can you put bigger tires on those slp wheel or are those the biggest? Also what size are they?

  • Another question for ya. Do you know what kind of sealer they used where the rust was in the back with the new patches?

  • @thestewie521 It is a professional grade seam sealer...sorry, I do not know what brand it is. I have used something similar from The Eastwood Company with good results.

  • Thanks for the feedback. Ive have been looking for pics of the slp hyper black wheels. They look great.

  • Are those slp wheels that you put on Hyper Black or Silver? Also did you only have to run one wire on those seats?

    Great Job sweet car!!!!!!!!!!

  • @thestewie521 Yes, SLP Hyper Black ZR1's. My wife is really happy with them. As far as the power seat goes, I just ran one fused power wire to it and installed a Radio Shack male/female connector for ease of removal.

  • Are those slp wheels that you put on Hyper Black or Silver? Also did you only have to run one wire on those seats?

    Great Job!!!!

  • Me and my uncle built a 1984 Z28 from the ground up last year and next month were putting in a 355 small block along with alot of engine upgrades to take it from 210HP to 485HP. Good job on the rebuild

  • @1984ZZ28camaro I just checked out a video of your car. Nice work!

  • nice job, how come you got rid of the iroc rims that were on it orig?

  • @Dusk2600 The IROC rims were not original to the car. They were in really, really poor shape and I put them on the car temporarily

  • awesome job! how did u go about reparing the rust on the roof and hatch?

  • I would've kept the IROC's instead of the ZR-1's, but still nice

  • nice job

  • sooo sexy

  • Now THAT'S love!!

  • It took about 3 months of non-stop work to get it 80% finished (replace worn suspension components, interior replacement, body work and paint). The last 20% (install weatherstripping, install upgraded brakes, replace exhaust, engine, etc...) is taking about 3 years! Ha!

  • How long did it take to fully restore?

  • B E A UTIFUL

  • Nice job for a sweet girl....

  • where did u get those seats

  • @airsoftsoldier101 They are out of a 4th gen Camaro (1993-2002). It is a direct bolt in. The only modification I had to do was run a 12V wire for the power seat on the driver's side.

  • put a cute girl in it atleast

  • Wow. Beautiful job and great video. Really cool car from my generation. I wish I had one.

  • wow man. this is exactly what i wanna do to mine, except im gunna two tone the paint with dark blue and black. i have an 82, its my first car and i bought it from the original owner with 82,500 miles.

  • wow its a new car. sweet

  • Great job man. I got a 1995 Firebird 3.4 I'm gonna restore. Gonna try to make a Formula WS6 Clone out of it. I already got the taillights and the decals.

  • @81TransAmJunkie Nice! Don't let anyone tell you that it is not worth it. Do what you like and enjoy it!

  • How much total?

  • obiously your wife didn't need any transformation since we have to wait until almost the endof the clip to see her (LOL) would love to see her fire it up and drive it.

  • mine has rusted right where it did at 2:00 aswell

  • looks like my camaro paint is stripped getting ready to start the project

  • fucking beautiful!

  • mid and late 80s cars are all ugly...no exceptions.

  • @MrEdwardLyons you cant be any more wrong 80's camaros are the best iroc 's are the way to go

  • @MrEdwardLyons

then go look somewhere else, so this doesn't hurt your tender eyes. LOL

  • 85 Camaro? Was it really worth it?

  • @brib333 Ha ha! If it was any other 85 Camaro, the answer would be "no". However, this was my wife's first car and seeing her reaction after she saw it, the answer is "Absolutely".

  • @brib333 What do you mean was it worth it? It's a Camaro. The F-body cars ONLY increase in value.

  • @brib333 , READ, it says his wife's first car. Do you still have your first car? I don't and really wish I did. I think it was a cool gift.

    Nice Job

  • how much did a dash cost? i think i might have to get 1

  • @87irocz350TPI The actual dash pad was around $75 used, the cover was around $40 IIRC.

  • How much did all your fix-ups cost?

  • wat did you do wit da iroc rims???

  • @elmalkriao175 They were sold a long time ago. They were in pretty rough shape.

  • are those rims on your camaro stock in the beginning photos?? stock right?? i need some ;).

  • @heyman602 Those are stock 1985-1987 IROC-Z wheels.

  • Third gen Camaro... the last best looking car, Chevy made. These are VERY under rated as far as style! Its a masterpiece!

  • @MrRobGT I like the way you think!!!!

  • how much did the body work and paint cost?

  • wow! It's hard to believe that the car at the beginning of the video, is still the same car at the end of the video. you did an amazing job. That car should be your pride and joy! You stripped the insides and then made them awesome. Plus is was all rusty and old, then you made it pretty and shiny! Man, you did awesome!

  • @wwjoshdew Thanks for the encouraging comments! The car will never be "finished", but it is in much better shape than it was a few years ago!

  • nice work

  • nice job, like the rims, nd paint looks really good A+++

  • That was some sexy metal work. Mine is currently under construction, so I can appreciate the work you put in. Cheers.

  • that was awesome im looking for a camaro myself, ive always had a fondnes of the early 80s body style, like the one in your video.

  • wow perfect song. good to watch a camaro video that doesn't have lip biscuit playing in the backgrond.

  • Love those SLP wheels, They look great on these cars.

  • what is that stuff called on 2:08 because i need some for my camaro

  • @mikewashere01 It is called seam sealer. I don't recall what brand was used on this car, but I have used the seam sealer from The Eastwood Co with good results

  • Nice looking camaro wow i have 85 berlinetta that i am working right now how much did u spend on fix it up and how much was the paint job i want to painted black aswell mine came with 2.8L V6 ill be replacing it 305 or a 350 later down the line i am on a bugget right sucks i all this bills to pay first

  • How many inches is that cowl hood? Looks great.

  • @Landshark5000 It is a 2.5" cowl hood from Glasstek. I chose it because it mimics the 69 Z28 cowl hood the best.

  • @brnagn76 Thats what I was guessing. You did a great job with that. Nice

  • did she drove barefoot the car too?and what about a barefoot pedal video?;)

  • i have an 83 z28 i need to do a lot to it..basically what you did to this car. i can't seem to find good t-tops though. Mine have the small hooks and not the spikes/rods on the locking mechanism..i was wondering if you know if they make them anymore?

  • nice restoration!!!

  • damn i would have kept the IROC rims on :)

  • I'd never forget this particular model, I owned a 1984, but in red color, is amazing that it has the same interior as mine did. That car had an awesome power, but unfortunably I sold it when I joined the Army.

  • @matador5135 Now is the time to buy another one! I have seen some good deals recently...

  • I got a question. I have a '92 Camaro RS and my transmission is not changing into second gear. Is it better to have the transmission rebuilt or just by a new one?

  • @king4916 Obviously, a rebuild should be cheaper than a new transmission. If you just want a stock replacement and you can find a reputable shop that provides a warranty, I would try that.

  • Thanks man. I'm gonna take your advice and like you said it would be cheaper.

  • @king4916 buy a used one

  • @sk8terrandy1 kinda of hard to not a buy a used 80 camaro dont you think lol

  • @king4916 Does your tranny have a vacuum advance? That would cause it to not shift out of first. Been awhile since I have dealt with trannys.

  • @dhart1977 Hey what's up? I've gotten it rebuilt and it drives great. I appreciate the comment. I didn't want to spend that much ( $1200 ) but it's worth it.

  • Can Anyone Tell Me How Hard it is to take off the Front Bumper Cover ??? I Have a 91 Camaro RS And im wanting to replace the front bumper and im not sure on how to take it off?

  • @CharlieLUVSChevys There is a fiberglass headlight bar that you can see when you open the hood. There are 3 studs attached to the bar on both ends. The studs pass through the bumper cover into the front of each fender. If you lay under the car and look up, you should see these nuts. Loosen these on both sides...there is one that is near the top of the fender and you may have to get to it from the engine compartment. A 1/4" extension and swivel helps. The other bolts should be easily found.

  • ok thanks that helps me out alot

  • i have a 87 rs. little by little im hookin it up

  • whatnow137 im about to buy a z28 h.o. and im going threw the same thing and i have the same age as you and the car needs alot of work but the engine is bad ass...all this can run you up to 15k over time...but i think it would be worth it..but i suggest you work on the engine first and wurry about the body later...thats my opinion idk if some of you think diffrent

  • Great job!!!!!!

  • I'm thinking about buying a late 70's or early 80's camaro and restoring it like how you did...do you mind giving a price range on how much it cost you? I'm only 18 so I don't know much about prices of parts etc...and also did you put in a new engine? I didn't see any pics of that. If you did about how much does that cost?

  • Hey dude I recently acquired my 92 RS. All the support and advice you need is on Thirdgen (.) Org. By the way youtube blocking all website names being typed is fucking stupid.

  • your crazy!!! dont get me wrong 3rd gen was a great body style but nothing like the raw edge of the 60's and early 70. no other camaro even comes close to those earlier designs. thats y opinion. lol

  • damn man. alot of work and money and love put into that car. i'm impressed.

  • probably one of the best videos i have ever seen. very nice work. paint was spectacular. and the song fits perfectly

  • NIce Job man!

  • Nice job man im buying a 1988 to restore of my buddy.

  • just watched your vid of this car and might i add, what a cool garage, its huge, and the car has come out very well too!

id love to know how it cost, but you cant put a price on love!

  • are you in missouri

  • I used to be, but have since moved. The car was in Missouri for several years. I had it shipped to the east coast in 2008 and did all the work here.

  • very nice work, the car looks real clean. out of curiosity how much did the paint cost you?

  • In my opinon, third gen was when Chevy perfected the Camaro look. I absolutely love mine.

  • sweet job that looks awesome

  • 1:48 1:56 Ive got the same rustouts on my car very nice resto on it I like the cowl hood is it a 2'' scoop

  • @86camaromike That rust is a pain, isn't it?

The hood is a 2" Glasstek hood...it is fiberglass. I would have preferred steel, but could not find one with the same style cowl.

  • Yeah Still have to fix it my car is about half way restored now its nice to see when these cars are being save instead of junked or torn apart

  • who are the rims made by and what style?

  • ZR1 wheels from SLP Engineering. The part number is 81001.

  • great story great resto. bet she was excited to see her car again like that. and over I go to that video lol.

  • Very nice. And I have to say that It's nice to see a sport coupe without the Z28 conversion, you just don't see to many of then anymore. Nice job!!

  • @trailblazerls Thanks for the compliment. I was originally a Z28 lover, but now have an affinity for the Sport Coupes since there are less on the road. If I can just get a LSX slipped into the engine bay, my wife could have a sleeper. :)

  • Nice! Very nice! To me, ground effects make them look even better! Good job man!

  • Is 2k for a 1985 camaro sports coupe a good buy , the car has 83xxx miles on it , original paint and no rust ? message me

  • @Metaliica474921 buy!!!!! They are classics at the beginning of 2010! So your's will be worth much more since you under a 100,000 miles and you have the original paint! I have the one too!

  • @Metaliica474921 there's no way the paints original with no rust, unless it's just really fucked up paint, but I doubt even then there would be no rust. Have a mechanic check it, if it's in all around good shape for 2k with only 83k miles then that sounds like a steal to me.

  • work of beauty

  • very nice job, turned out alot better than mine, but i didnt do bad for my first build ever, paint and all

  • damn gotta give it to ya, black is a hard color to keep clean

  • amazing job bro hay what hood is that exactly?

  • It is a 2" cowl hood from Glasstek. It was the only hood I found that resembled the 1969 Z28 cowl hood.

  • absolutely beautiful!!! im in the process of my resto now too and its good to see the whole thing from start to finish.

  • Gotta love Bondo!

  • amazing restoration in and out. I recently bought an 84 IROC i planned on restoring and that pretty much motivated me(and btw i wouldve kept those IROC rims, they were ahmazing.) But yea, My restoration is somewhat of a sad story, so far im in the hole 300 bucks due to a stolen holley 4 barel on my 305. bastards. and im having trouble finding an a/c assembly for the interior.

  • 84 IROC? They didn't start making em until '85... do you mean 84 Z28?

  • i meant z28. yea i know, im convertin the body. gonna be a pain...but its worth it.

  • very nice restotation man must cost you an arm and a leg !!!!!!

  • lol what a mess my dash is all outa mine i have a 86 tho and center and stuff its a mess lol engen wont run tho

  • what kind of motor you put in when it was done

  • beautiful car bro. I bought a 95 that was pretty bent out of shape and over the past yaer i've been bringin it back to life. Great job tho. Where are the wheels from?

  • Thanks for the kind words. I love the idea of bringing vehicles back from the dead and would love to see pics of your 95. The wheels are ZR1 wheels from SLP Engineering.

  • wow i think im gana cry sick man

    nice

  • Thats a sick ass transformation good job!

  • this camaro is gorgeous great job man i recently bought an 84 z28 i was wondering if you could give me some pointers

  • An 84 Z28 is a really neat car. I would love to help. I will send you a message.

  • nice, but black isn't very original

  • dude i respect opinions but my opinion is that black is the best color for any 2nd gen camaro

  • beautiful resto. Good work.

  • thats a nice ride, good job on the transformation. i find it really easy to reform older cars...

  • Great job! the paint looks awesome...

  • waw good job man i have a 85 camaro in the works myself the hard top model.i would love to get some advice on how i should restore my camaro =D

  • Feel free to send me a message and I will give you some advice based on my experience.

  • what did u pay for the car it self?...and after all the repairs and body haul, how much did u invest? it was a great choice to get it back to life, great vid:}

  • The car was my wife's first car. She bought it in 1994, and it was in good condition at that time. My brother owned the car for the last 5 years. He gave it back to us last year. As far as total cost, I have never totaled it up (I really don't want to know how much we spent), but if someone was wise with their purchases, I think the car could be recreated for around $6500.

  • i like the original rims better

  • The IROC wheels are definitely a nice choice. I decided to replace them due to a couple of reasons: The set I had needed to be refinished and I wanted to upgrade to 17" wheels.

  • with those you can run ls1 or c4 brakes. so thats what i would do too!

  • Thats really sweet of you to do that for your wife man, did she know that you were doing this?

  • She had no clue. Check out my other video to see her reaction when I showed the car to her.
