So sad to hear this news today. I just bought Gentlemen Prefer Blonds the other day & loved it. First time I ever saw it. I love Marilyn but I have to say that Jane was the true star in that movie. And I have to say that Gentlemen all over the world prefer brunettes today. What a gorgeous woman! She was a real dame.
Watching the clips from this show always gets genuine laughs out of me. I miss this kind of humor that's actually funny without being grotesque or mean spirited.
They should create a whole channel for old game shows. I'm certain that, more than 10 years ago, considering the recent obsession with the past, people want to view these shows.
Nobody has mentioned her Playtex bra commercials in the '60s (or was it the'70s)––"they lift and separate." I was too young to know her acting, but, boy I remember those commercials!
She had some interesting things to say about the politics of actors in the 40's and 50's...she has been a devout Christian for years. Interesting lady.
chris812 - judging from the attire of the group I say near 1963 since the large shawl collar was a trademark of JFK wife Jaqualine and the lady's hair quaf appears also to be early 60's
God, it is so cool to see Jane R. w/out alot of make-up; she was a truly beautiful woman. And, of course she was just disguising her voice. I hate P.C. ppl too! I miss the old days of NO POLITICAL CORRECTNESS! We knew/know how to be nice and respectful to ppl. No need for a pc law.
LMAO politically correct fool. Jane Russell is masking her voice by playing a palooka with a cold. The only thing here that is retarded is your sense of humor!
Lovely Lady. I always enjoyed watching her movies. R.I.P. Jane Russell.

Gosh what a classy, beautiful woman Jane was. Everything that's missing today. And Arlene? What's not to love about her way and manner.

If they bring this show back, it won't be as funny and fun and the stars today can't compare those stars back then.

@tgerclaw stars today don't care about their fans and having fun

what year is this from?

You could never bring back this show now.
First, nothing is produced in N.Y. any more.
Second, screen stars don't need to get publicity on a game show--they get it all over the entertainment media and online.
Third--there are no great stars anymore!
No, that's not true, but I like saying it.
You can't bring back past successes. It's like movie remakes. They always suck!

Saw Miss Russell in "Company" on Broadway during the 1970s. She played Joanne and gave a boffo performance and had a ball as a dancer.

Wowo what and honor to see her play the iconic role of Joanne

What a tender and delicate beauty she has. Love her eyes. They've got some sort of magic. They're so vivid!
Daly was an awesome moderator. Quite good skills and adorable use of language.

Comparison-contrast generated much of the humor in WML. That palooka voice coming out of that gorgeous face is hysterical.

I agree with hotblood, great posting! When exactly (or even apporoximately) was this originally broadcast? Was it in fact the
1960s or was it the fifties?
borgrav 3 years ago
My research says it was from November 1962. I'm pretty sure that's accurate.
Btw...I LOVE Jane's voice! VERY FUNNY!

Thanks for posting this! It was great fun to see Jane Russell from the 1960s.
