  • what is the song D:??

  • Rockman is just a japanese version of Megaman \affe

  • According to Zero´s Nightmares in MMX4 Dr. Wily built and programmed him to kill Mega Man.

I think that happened a little bit before the completion of X - Dr. Light was eiteher dying of age or was sick and put X into the Capsule were Dr. Cain found him a 100 years later and built Sigma and the first Reploids out of his scheme.

Some time after this Sigma fought Zero and got infected with the Maverick Virus, what made him go insane - "Maverick" - and here MMX starts

  • Zero was programmed to kill Megaman (and presumably Light) but according to Inafune on his forum, he stated Zero never carried out that mission and wasn't responsible for the deaths of the original cast. Apparently, he wasn't completed and didn't activate until the Maverick Hunters(Garma's unit, according to Sigma) woke him up from his capsule. So, this raises the original question: What happened to Megaman and the others?

  • There's something in Megaman 9 about robots having expiration dates... XD

But that'd be a pretty lame way to go.

  • i like the japanese intro so awesome

  • by the way, WHAT THE HELL IS BASS DOING AT THE END OF THE VIDEO WITH THE GOOD GUYS? HE'S EVIL FOR CRYING AT LOUD!!!

  • You think he's going to let a petty Robot Master destroy Megaman?

  • *shrugs* Don`t know.

  • Correct answer: No.

His head lets him think that only HE is worthy of killing Megaman. This makes him an ally of Megaman in his own little way.

  • Then Zero was created.

  • I believe that Zero killed Dr. Light and Bass, but Megaman and the other escaped. They died peacefully.

  • I actually think X is MegaMan because Sigma says the "Old Man" hates him a lot. If I recall correctly, after making the original X into Zero, Inafune kinda intended X to be MegaMan. To the Extreme. And futuristic. I mean, more futuristic.

  • That's totally wrong.

X and Rock are COMPLETELY different. The only character in the original series that's even somewhat similar to X is Protoman, because he isn't obligated to do whatever his creator wants him to do. That's what separates Rock and X (:

Also, to add to that... Zero was meant to be the original X. They put Zero as a side character though, because Inafune didn't feel that the fans of the original RockMan would relate to a red reploid, as a opposed to a blue one.

  • Please, don't say "wrong". There hasn't been an official word from Capcom, and there won't be, they said so himself.

    It's all especulation.

I know about the whole crud about Zero being originall X, but Inafune thought players would miss the blue bomber. But that's another story.

In any case, even if there are many "X isn't Rock" fans, I'll still support my beliefs, thanks to the MMX1 SNES instruction blocket.

Both X is and X isn't are mere theories as all the clues have been friggin obscure.

  • I sent you a video from the OVA: Day of Sigma.

    Watch it.

  • I've seen that OVA, but I consider it, along with Maverick Hunter X as a whole, non-canon, or alternate universe at it's most.

That OVA goes against all the continuity stablished in the X series by making Vile a rouge rather than "Sigma's lap dog" (thank you Zero for that phrase), killing Dr. Cain when he appears in X2 and X3, and making X and Zero 'friends' since the beggining whereas the original Zero saw X as "someone with potential" and not a friend.

  • Kinda forgot.

I know Zero and X are friends, but that's pretty much established from X2 onwards.

  • if you play "Rockman 2: The Power Fighters" (cps) when you won with bass its revealed that dr. willy created zero as the ultimate warrior, even powerfull than bass...

which means that dr light created X but no one said that X and Rockman are the same

  • I've played that g- wait, 'Rockman'? Are you Japanophile/Elitist?

Anyway, I think we all are a bit Japanophile inside.

Also, like I said, the MegaMan X Manual (and Sigma's Dialogue in X5) both nod to the fact X is Rock. Not said directly, just noded.

Also, what does that have to do with anything? How creating Zero means Dr. Light created X? I mean, I know Old Fat Man created One-Letter-Name-Guy, that's blatantly obvious, but what you said doesn't prove anything...

  • the first megaman/rockman game i ever played has rockman 2 for nes on japanise, and as rockman is the original name and not the one used on the translation i like to call it by his original name, but i wont call protoman blues cuz blues is too odd

  • A nod isn't very good evidence...

And Sigma stated "He used to be a comrade of yours".

Hmm... Wily certainly wasn't a comrade of Rock... was he?

Of course, this is from the English version. I'm not sure what the Japanese version states. (:

  • IIRC Wily helped Dr. Light to Created the original DRN series. This pretty much includes Rock himself. In MegaMan 3 when he seemengly fooled gullible fatman into "I'm good now lol", he screated the DRWN Series (though still marked as DWN. And I mean the bosses on MegaMan 3)

  • dude...the creator of the megaman series stated that the original megaman and x are not the same..he also stated that zero did not destroy any of the characters of the original series..which leaves one question...what happened to them ?

  • Yeah.... Zero didn't kill any of the original RockMan characters... Inafune said so himself.

Also, if Dr. Light was killed, how did he create X?

Try playing Mega Man Maverick Hunter X (:

  • Where's your source of Inafune denying this?

Dr. Light could've created X before he died. I imagine that he was the next project after Roll was made...

    I don't have a PSP, sadly.

  • Apparently, Dr. Light was a few months from death of old age/sickness when he finished X. He knew he wasn't going to live long enough to ensure that X's great potential was properly cultivated, which was why he sealed X in a capsule to undergo ethical testing for 30 years.

I don't know about Zero not killing any of the original series' characters, but his disturbing nightmares in X4 seem to hint at that being his original mission.

  • you mean, he wants to destroy him right?

  • Yes, and he won't give anybody else a chance at doing so under his watch.

  • OMG THANKS FOR POSTING THIS! My childhood is back. I remember playing this game, I even had a scheme to destroy the enemies XD [ first I went to the whirlwind guy, then to Clownman (he kept all knoted with the whirwind power), and so it goes.]

  • You mean Tengu man as the "whirlwind guy"?

  • Yep, that's the guy. :) I forgot his name, it had a long time since I played last time ^^;

  • to me Mega Man 8 is ok, it's not the best in the series, but at least it's better than X6, X7, and X8, I do kinda like Mega Man 8, I always start with Clown Man, because he's the easiest! (I own this game on the Mega Man Anniversary Collection!)

  • THIS............IS............AWESOME!!!!! (^o^)

  • Mega man being able to lift guts man + guts mans ass = Mega man is really mega. GREAT INTRO... could do without voice actors

  • The singers... just chills me... the sound like backmasked speakers...

  • anyways does any1 here know what a weeabo is? XDD (i mean any1 else then that guy down there on spam comments?) XD

  • ... I'm honestly unsure, but as far as I've been able to gather, "weeaboo" is a derogatory term for someone who's highly into anime and believes most to all Japanese things are superior to their American counterparts. So, for example, they substitute random Japanese words into their sentences, insist that the Japanese opening to everything is better (and insist on subbed rather than dubbed anime), and, well, stuff like that.

Like I said, unsure... correct me if I'm wrong.

  • yeah it sumthing like that but you hav to say that till onow i only heard my 5 years old cousinh spell stupid words like that XDD nd as i sayd b4 im brazilian nd i there are things that i like more in japanese cuz there is a better voice actiong nd all but there are things that i hate in japanese too that doesnt mae me a "weaabo" or sumthing so it s worng to say this to some1 ^^

  • We all have our own opinions. We're all entitled to that. I love both the American version and Japanese version both. Personally, I like this version better. Not because it's the original or anything, I just kinda like the song better. The lyrics are sweet too, even if I can't understand jack.

  • the best megaman intro ever!!!!

  • american do a lot of nice things i am brasilian nd there are japanese games that fits beter whit the english intro nd some other ones whit japanese german nd french intro nd please dont creat words like "weeabo" you look like my 5 years old cousin by spelling words like that

  • considering mega/rockman IS from japan but I see your point and disagree 100% and what the hell is a weeaboo

  • Notice that the Robot Masters that MegaMan fights in this intro appear in order of game. GutsMan from MM1, QuickMan from MM2, SnakeMan from MM3 etc.

  • ok wtf? are ALL of the previous robot masters in this damn game?? i saw masters and minibosses from i'm sure 1-6, i didn't play 7 on so i dunno who that bat master was. anyways huh???

  • They only show the previous robot masters that fought against Megaman.

  • Yeah, it's kind of like a recap video.

  • Only that it's EXTREEEEEEME!!!!

  • MEGAMAN EXTREME

No, wait... Wrong game... Sup Cenetaurman.

  • Hello...wait...

    Name: Luna.

    OH SUNAVA...

  • XD Lake wasn`t my real name all along.

  • That's not the only problem...

    Didn't know you were 18.

  • Oh. o.o How old you thought I was?

  • The typical internet age I think someone is.

    23.

  • Typical? With all the immature 12 years old running around here?

  • I don't know why, I just usually think the age is 23.

  • I s- WAIT YOU`RE 14?

  • I haven't made that much of a secret :P

  • this murders the american version

    FATALITY

    JAPAN WINS

  • Man, we got the short end of the stick when they translated the game to English. They could have at least kept the original song intact. And if I had never watched the 8-bit version, I would have never noticed Snakeman on top of the fire-breathing snake. I just thought it was a random snake, like in Megaman 3.

  • I. LOVE. THIS. GAME.

Seriously, I am playing through it right now without a memory card to try and challenge myself. When Megaman and Bass came out on GBA I flipped a cookie and bought it. Now Nintendo power has confirmed that MEGAMAN 9 IS COMING TO WII!!!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~~~!!!!!

  • Um... don't ask me how did that happen, but... I said "weaah"... instead of "yeah"... I meant to say "yeah"... seriously. ...yep.

  • Ah well. I think I know why Keiji Inafune (Rockman's creator) decided on that. Ever play one of the old games and let your imagination wander and recreate the scenes with quality that no gaming system could produce? THAT is what he's trying to get people to do again. Use your imagination when you play games, and you will have at least twice as much fun as without.

  • That would be sad... The 8-bit Megaman is the best Megaman!

  • han the japanese version is so awesome ! @_@

  • Very better than the american >_>

  • @RikVideoMan Do you also think the X5 ending theme was worse in the American version? Fuck off. But yeah, this shit is catchy as fuck.

  • One of the best intros!!! I love Rockman!!
