I hate to be the negative one, but this girl's gotta be what, 19, 20? Her teachers told her not to put off college because she'd get settled into a paying career, and since she was making money, never get back on that horse and pursue her dream. Fine if what she wanted to do was massage therapy, but if she still wants to go back to school, it remains to be seen if she will. I know a number of people that put off school and never got around to it. More power to her, though, hope she does well.
Oh yes, we DEFINITELY know what you were talking about with the "illegal" comment. The straight guys watching this video have been thinking about it the whole time.
This chick is talking as if she already went to a four year college after getting her rubandtug diploma. We don't know if she will succeed yet, or if it was a good decision.
@aaronpolitical er..never mind. some folks around call santa clause ''best friends'' since he is the finnish flagship and i guess i misunderstood your statement to a local humor. but hey, cheers.
@moviedude22 I was just about to ask about this...I know education is being cut across the board, but has scholarship money dried up too? I haven't heard anything about it in all these education and tuition stories.
Graduates who are confidant and competent enough to construct and follow their own plan of action. THAT's what this country needs more of. Yes, she is flawlessly beautiful to boot.
"I was poor and couldn't afford community college, so I decided to launder over $8,000 to a message school. Now I have awesome job, suck it high school peers and teachers."
@MasonsVlogasim Everyone who can afford 10% of an American college tuition can go to Europe and study there, considering that in most places, University is basically free.
@meestryal Americans can go to college cheap in Europe. My tuition in Ireland is 2200 Euro a year. If an american were to enrole in my course they would have to pay WAY more than that. Why would the Irish government pay to educate an american student?
@emilslattery I said that it depends on where you go. The law just change in Sweden, but it used to be almost free for anyone. It's still the case in many countries. Ireland is apparently not on of them, but it's still pretty cheap for an American to study in Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Holland or Germany. This is probably the case for Spain and Portugal too, but I'm not sure.
What an inspiring young woman. I wish I had the stones to shutdown people's BS like that before going to university and ending up financially frustrated due to my reluctance to take loans.
I love what she did. She gets the money then pays for school, instead of going to school and then having to pay twice as much after because of interest.
if she was really poor like she said she was, then you could get a full ride to college. My brother did, fafsa paid for EVERYTHING(book, classes the whole 9 yards) and he wasn't even a "smart" student he was average. I on the other hand, joined the Army then plan to go to college, I got alot of shit b/c of it but it's the best decision I made
@luvtwinkie1993 it depends on what college you go to. i'm poor and my EFC on the fafsa was (and still is) zero, but i still have to take out federal loans and work to pay for everything. i'm not even going to an expensive school, my total cost is a little over 21k a year.
Aside from being really good looking, she's really smart. Apparently she knows how rough college is financially and she's got a plan. It's amazing to see an eighteen year old with that type of foresight, I wish her the best of luck.
Another alternative would be to go to university in Europe where they aren't charging you a kidney and an eye ball 'cause over there education is socialized.
She spent $8000 on massage therapy school but community college was too expensive for her? Community colleges in my state cost around $800 a semester, so for a two year degree you'd only pay $3200. And then you'd already be halfway to getting a Bachelors if you decided to transfer to a four year university.
@majorgeek yea its like that here in MD too so maybe she just weighed pros cons or something but community college here isnt much more than that if at all
@majorgeek 800 a semester? no offense, do your parents pay for your schooling? because that's definitely not how much I paid it's at least about 1000 for classes, plus about 500-600 for books, then throw in gas money, supplies and whatever else may come up and what not and your easily passing 2 grand each semester
@enacra101 $800 a semester is the cost of the courses. Books probably add another $400. I'm paying for my own schooling with grants and loans which I'll have to pay back later. I didn't count cost of living expenses because I would have to pay those if I had a job or if I went to school. I just referenced the cost of specifically going to school. You can DEFINITELY get a 2 year degree for less than $8000.
@majorgeek oh, I thought you were saying 800 for all the costs of going to CC, my mistake. For under $8000 I agree you can (and very easily too) get a 2 year degree though, but who knows maybe there is more to her story.
@majorgeek The $8000 she spent on massage therapy school will pay for itself, which is why she invested in it. If she did community college and then straight to a university, she would have still had to take out large loans and pay those loans + interest back. If she saves up a good amount of money doing massage therapy, then she will save far more money in the long run by not having to take out many loans and paying extra interest on them.
I almost forgot...when she does graduate from college,if she is ever in a situation where she is laid off, cannot find a job in her field, she always has another field of work to fall back on besides flipping burgers.
community college cost me $1500 last year, I'm now at a private university due to a really good financial aid package. This black girl is tripping, Im poor as fuck but I managed to work and pay my years at community college, now she is stuck touching old white ladies for money. If her ultimate goal was to go to college at least start at a community college where you dont have to pay that much to get your general edu credits out the way. BTW paying $8,000 dollars for a message school is retarded.
Smart young lady.I don't understand why others would look down upon what she did.I know a few people that have done the same thing, and a few (yes, not all) went on to college and find other career jobs.My Aunt was a massage therapist for some high paying athletes, but even with great pay from that, she went back to school and is doing something else.
Yeah, wasn't true what those teachers told her. I went into massage therapy and ended up wanting to learn more, so now im a biology major working to be a physical therapist
i went to massage therapy school. Been working for four years... I make as much as my cousin who went to school for seven years but I don't spend half my paycheck on student loans. Much props
I really hate to say it... but I bet the reason she is experiencing success in the massage therapy field is the fact that she is a young twenty something semi good looking girl.
I see her point. I wouldnt do it for various reasons but im a big believer that you should do what you want and make your own decisions. Good luck to her.
I feel the same pressure when it comes to graduate school. I remember that when I was in college, it was blasphemy to say that you weren't going to go to grad school.
If you need the graduate degree for a specific position, that's one thing. But there's so many people who attend grad school and place themselves in even more debt thinking that three more years of studying an obscure subject will increase their odds of finding a job.
@TheGrimTruth I love how your rebuttal had so many "Drop out" possibilities, I understand she learned a skill and she now has a safety net BUT! it's there is no excuse to not completing at least some basics at low cost.
@eangeles92 8000$ with the certificate to make good money at a job that not everyone can apply for and thus the competition is low compared to the money and wage vs 1500$ and fighting to get minimum wage jobs like every high school student, graduates and drop out, college student and drop out, and recently unemployed person in the community thus the competition id high compared to the money and wage.... No... Didn't really fuck up, actually.
@eangeles92 the cc in my area is actually about 8000 to finish a far cry from 1500. $1500 is actually what it costs to take just 3 classes..and it doesn't guarentee you a job.
The reason why people told her not to do it is because there was always a possibility that they wont go to college. I'm almost 20, and I'm not really in college yet... I just have a high school degree, basic spanish certified... (lol)... working to get into university.
a school like massage therpy is like a college and my school explained anything like that counted as a college after all its like a college in a way because its still a school that you have to pay for and this is super ha bisky
I also come from a completely poor background. Apply to the right colleges, and that will work in your favor, as it did in mine. Scholarships aren't dead!
But this girl is smart. I just did some quick research into massage therapy, and it is apparently one of the fastest growing professions at the moment and can bring in a lot of money if you have a solid client base...good for her! And it can easily work out if she gets extra schooling in a medical profession.
I knew what i wanted to do. A simple, straightforward job. Low money, boring, but with same routine all the time and security. The job will always be there However, this doesnt exist anymore.
It's good that she found something profitable that she enjoys (and didn't have to rack up debt for it), but I think she doesn't realise what she is missing out on. You don't just learn job skills at Uni, you network, make friends, learn various life skills, have fun/experience life.
Ideally, the system should allow for everyone to experience that because everyone, regardless of what career path they take will benefit from it.
Unfortunately, 9 times out of 10, her teachers are right though.
@Wolfau5 exactly. I'm getting the idea that she never wanted to go to college in the first place. In Maryland, if she was as poor as she claimed, she could've gotten the $5500 pell grant, and stafford loans to attend the University of Maryland, for example. She just got tired of the daily school grind IMO
@oakaveli Maybe her whole thing was that she didn't want struggle in college. Tuition isn't the only cost, you have housing, food, personal expenses, etc. Why take out a loan for that when you can earn your money right then. Lastly, you already know about the growing problem with people not being able to find a job out of HS.
Good for her. I don't plan to go straight to college either; but I still don't know what my exact plan is and how I'm going to go about paying tuition when I do go.
Too bad she is not from Germany, China, Japan, Canada, Sweeden, Norway, Barbados, Jamaca, Italy England, France, Poland, and every other developed countries in the world that spend money on their "People" Instead of Wars for Exon!
@trinikagekavir Are you From Jamaca? If its so "Third world"( You obiously have not been to college since you dont know what third world IS) Then whay are so many tourist going there? And why has it produced so many stars and millionaires?
@JUDALATION You are an idiot. (And china is developed lol)
Anyways I live in Trinidad and Tobago, a far superior country btw which also happens to still be '3rd world' (though admittedly the phrase 3rd world is hardly used anymore, more accurately it is LEDC).
I wasn't shitting on Jamaica or anything, just stating the facts.
And lol @you calling me idiot when you think producing stars and millionaires is a sign of development.
@trinikagekavir Third countries is an old and inefficent term to be used since WW2. You can think what you want but China has the second largest economy and Jamaica is better than the USA in terms of wealth disparity and healthcare coverage. I never said that Jamaca was a wealthy country but they have better policies than the USA, which was my point. Jamaca is not a terrible country to live in as they live much longer than Blacks in America because of universal healthcare, so STFU!
@JUDALATION I agree, the term third world and all that just refers to its technological advancement. But what is the point of being technological advanced if your citizens live like slaves and have less rights than the "third world" places.
@JUDALATION +1 to this. $150 pr semester in fees for public college/university rocks. No tuition on top of that. And the state gives direct loans to students that don't generate interrest while you study, and after that around 2,5-3,5% depending on the market interrest rates. Also about 40% of the about $16.000 pr year loan is made into scholarship money when you pass your courses.
As someone from Canada... college isn't cheap here. I'm looking at $20k USD/CAN per year to pay for this, just at a normal "state school" style thing. Maybe a bit better than the US, but...
@gamegeek2 Greatest? You mean most expensive... Most people dont buy the hype. There is nothing Our universities do better than Tokyo university. In fact.. Most kids who dont get into Tokyo university can teach in our best schools. Shang hI University is better and more competitive than Harvard. Only difference is you can buy your way into Harvard!
She of course can go to the universities in the countries you listed btw. Norway offers free tuition rates at public universities. Japan, China, Taiwan, Singapore, etc offer full ride scholarships for foreigners and monthly stipends. She didn't have to do massage school she could've went to a higher quality school at a lower price overseas. But Americans think schools overseas don't count. So let them think it, and let them slave away to get something they deserve(education)
@lordblazer Actually I am looking for a university abroad but its hard finding information on it. Do you know of any latin american countries that offer free tuition? I'd like to learn spanish thats why.
to make things worse not only do average amreican students slave away to get their education and a lot of right wingers and older people think we're just partying and fooling around. My God. Look at undergraduate in Japan, and see how lazy it is. I realized. Americans bust their asses in both their studies and working to get their education. I wish people would stop saying university is easy, and everyone is getting degrees because obviously everyone isn't
I see how to make LOTS of money fast. The "full release" massage is what pays the real bills. Otherwise, her work will never cover the cost of living AND going to a real college. Good luck with that, though. I've known girls that stripped and prostituted so they could get ahead. That's what capitalism is all about, baby.
How cute is that girl. She should get into Harvard on looks alone!!!

theguruofreason 3 months ago
@theguruofreason i got my as in engineering from a community college for a few grand cheaper...

MARYLAND! FUCK YEAH.
Well, that's an interesting way to pay for it. But really? Backlash from the teachers? Fuck them.

"Are you gonna pay for my college tuition? Ok, then get out of my face." Pure gold.
Best of luck to you, girl.

@TheGrimTruth I love how your rebuttal had so many "Drop out" possibilities, I understand she learned a skill and she now has a safety net BUT! it's there is no excuse to not completing at least some basics at low cost.

$8000 for message school vs $1500 community college......black girl you done fucked up.
eangeles92 3 months ago
@eangeles92 8000$ with the certificate to make good money at a job that not everyone can apply for and thus the competition is low compared to the money and wage vs 1500$ and fighting to get minimum wage jobs like every high school student, graduates and drop out, college student and drop out, and recently unemployed person in the community thus the competition id high compared to the money and wage.... No... Didn't really fuck up, actually.
TheGrimTruth 3 months ago 2
@eangeles92 the cc in my area is actually about 8000 to finish a far cry from 1500. $1500 is actually what it costs to take just 3 classes..and it doesn't guarentee you a job.
domino18717 3 months ago
The reason why people told her not to do it is because there was always a possibility that they wont go to college. I'm almost 20, and I'm not really in college yet... I just have a high school degree, basic spanish certified... (lol)... working to get into university.

trades-people in Australia can make a lot more money than professionals, don't know if it's the same in the US?
kathyofrin 3 months ago
There are plenty of options, esp. vocational schooling.

a school like massage therpy is like a college and my school explained anything like that counted as a college after all its like a college in a way because its still a school that you have to pay for and this is super ha bisky

Zajuts149 3 months ago
I also come from a completely poor background. Apply to the right colleges, and that will work in your favor, as it did in mine. Scholarships aren't dead!
But this girl is smart. I just did some quick research into massage therapy, and it is apparently one of the fastest growing professions at the moment and can bring in a lot of money if you have a solid client base...good for her! And it can easily work out if she gets extra schooling in a medical profession.
nothlithawk777 3 months ago
She's cute, where does she work at, I need some of her therapy.

Massage Therapy School can also be expensive to get in to.
DeJach 3 months ago
It's good that she found something profitable that she enjoys (and didn't have to rack up debt for it), but I think she doesn't realise what she is missing out on. You don't just learn job skills at Uni, you network, make friends, learn various life skills, have fun/experience life.
Ideally, the system should allow for everyone to experience that because everyone, regardless of what career path they take will benefit from it.
Unfortunately, 9 times out of 10, her teachers are right though.
Wolfau5 3 months ago
@Wolfau5 exactly. I'm getting the idea that she never wanted to go to college in the first place. In Maryland, if she was as poor as she claimed, she could've gotten the $5500 pell grant, and stafford loans to attend the University of Maryland, for example. She just got tired of the daily school grind IMO
oakaveli 3 months ago
@oakaveli Maybe her whole thing was that she didn't want struggle in college. Tuition isn't the only cost, you have housing, food, personal expenses, etc. Why take out a loan for that when you can earn your money right then. Lastly, you already know about the growing problem with people not being able to find a job out of HS.

Too bad she is not from Germany, China, Japan, Canada, Sweeden, Norway, Barbados, Jamaca, Italy England, France, Poland, and every other developed countries in the world that spend money on their "People" Instead of Wars for Exon!

@JUDALATION Jamaica is still 3rd world.
trinikagekavir 3 months ago
@trinikagekavir Are you From Jamaca? If its so "Third world"( You obiously have not been to college since you dont know what third world IS) Then whay are so many tourist going there? And why has it produced so many stars and millionaires?
JUDALATION 3 months ago
@JUDALATION You are an idiot. (And china is developed lol)
Anyways I live in Trinidad and Tobago, a far superior country btw which also happens to still be '3rd world' (though admittedly the phrase 3rd world is hardly used anymore, more accurately it is LEDC).
I wasn't shitting on Jamaica or anything, just stating the facts.
And lol @you calling me idiot when you think producing stars and millionaires is a sign of development.
trinikagekavir 3 months ago
@trinikagekavir Third countries is an old and inefficent term to be used since WW2. You can think what you want but China has the second largest economy and Jamaica is better than the USA in terms of wealth disparity and healthcare coverage. I never said that Jamaca was a wealthy country but they have better policies than the USA, which was my point. Jamaca is not a terrible country to live in as they live much longer than Blacks in America because of universal healthcare, so STFU!
JUDALATION 3 months ago
@JUDALATION I agree, the term third world and all that just refers to its technological advancement. But what is the point of being technological advanced if your citizens live like slaves and have less rights than the "third world" places.
Umishiru 3 months ago
@JUDALATION
1) I already stated that 3rd world was inaccurate. Less Economically Developed Country is the correct term.
2)India as well, however, they have low Human Devlopment.
(never heard those terms huh idiot)
3)I'm interested where you get your stats from. Anyways I could say the same about my country in terms of education but that's only 1 factor.
so STFU retard/moron/overall dumbfuck

musiclover3214 3 months ago
@JUDALATION +1 to this. $150 pr semester in fees for public college/university rocks. No tuition on top of that. And the state gives direct loans to students that don't generate interrest while you study, and after that around 2,5-3,5% depending on the market interrest rates. Also about 40% of the about $16.000 pr year loan is made into scholarship money when you pass your courses.
Scandinavia (Norway) FTW.

@JUDALATION

JUDALATION 3 months ago
@JUDALATION China spend it's money on it's people?
Pretty sure more than half of the civilians in China live well below the poverty line.
Things could, and SHOULD, be better her in the U.S. but quit whining like it's better anywhere else. Everyone has their own fucking problems.
Dickhead, state colleges, aka the colleges that get money from the Government, are still as cheap as ever for in state students.
If you want to go to a Private Institution then don't bitch about the cost.
lilruc 3 months ago
@JUDALATION
So let them think it, and let them slave away to get something they deserve(education)
lordblazer 3 months ago
@lordblazer Actually I am looking for a university abroad but its hard finding information on it. Do you know of any latin american countries that offer free tuition? I'd like to learn spanish thats why.
domino18717 3 months ago
@JUDALATION
to make things worse not only do average amreican students slave away to get their education and a lot of right wingers and older people think we're just partying and fooling around.
