  • It is very, very doubtful that the Sunset route from New Orleans to east Florida will ever see daylight again. The Gulf Coast excluding Lousiana and Texas is the only area of the U.S. with absolutely no passenger service. (excluding Tampa) Amtrak viewed that route segment as a red-headed stepchild long before it discontinued service. With the current fiscal crisis, a return of this Train to Biloxi, Mobile, Pensacola and points east is a non-starter.

  • @jasandros yea, not next 5 years but it may happens when Amtrak get new train sets.

  • This Question May Sound A Bit Silly. But Does Anyone Knows When If or When Amtrak Will Resume The Sunset Limited Service From Orlando? It's Been Since Hurricane Katrina The Last Time I've Took It. Now That's A Nice Stretch.

  • @dejohn913 I don't know. It seems like it wont happen again to FL. Thanks for the comment!

  • @singwith Oh Wow! That's a shame because that was a very nice route. I used to take it twice a year from Orlando. Now I have to take it from Chicago (Southwest Chief) via New Jersey.
