  • just noticed this one. another one to add to my list to visit :-)

  • Was there a forest at the time when this pillobox was constructed, or was it supposed to just stand there totally in the open?

  • @TrangleC im sorry i have now updated the information but the area was just open land and was used by the RAF as RAF Penshurst to land damaged aircraft which were then collected by lorries and taken away for spares or repaired and there are at least 2 other Pillboxes and a Auxiliary unit base that covered the area incase of enemy aircraft or gliders landing ';-)

  • Cool vid, I know where there are some in Kent, will get some videos for you when the I next get out there.

  • thanks for your comment';-)

depending on where you are in Kent there are some good ones and if you look on google earth you can have a look at your local area so good luck pillbox hunting';-)

  • @tacticalbattledroid Thanks, the ones I came across are in Penshurst, I almost didn't see one as it was covered with bushes and trees etc. will get recording when next out there in a couple of months.

  • She's a beauty - great exploration

  • thanks for commenting

there are ment to be 2 more nearby so when i get time and im in the area i hope to vist them too';-)

  • are there no trusts set up to look after sites like these... ?

  • some are protected by law but it depends on the local council if permission for demolition is given but most times its up to the land owner.

  • mind you there are a few pillbox groups out there that try to look after some and go around removing rubbish and plants which do the most damage';-)
