@UzumakiNarutolover Since Sebastian temporarily lost his arm with the contract seal he could not eat Ciel's soul and in that moment (when Sebastian was attempting to eat Ciel's soul, Claude stole his soul on Alois' orders and put it in the ring Ciel gave away to the sailor in episode 23) Since Sebastian could not afford to loose such a valuable soul he stole the ring back and gave back Ciel his soul, however since his memories were lost, Ciel's soul was incomplete

So in the last 2 episodes of Season 2, Sebastian brought him back to life and all that stuff, but Ciel can't remember the past year of his life. So he doesn't remember any of the events of Season 1.

Which is why Sebastian was smirking when he told Ciel they didn't need to worry about Madame Red snooping, because he knows that she had already been killed by Grell.
