Recently, after I've been re introduced to live steam, I've been wanting to make a replica of the the Queensland seriese of Beyer Garratt No.1009. It's my favourite steam engines that remains of the Queensland fleet of engines.
Though to be honest I doubt I'll ever have the time and money to do so within the next 30-40 years. After that, if all goes well, I should have both; if all goes well.
The track is screwed down using brass screws and Rawl plugs into foundation breeze blocks stood in a trench packed with a layer of coarse gravel and levelled with sharp sand.
The track is ballasted with granite chippings from a local builders' merchant, approximately 3mm to 1mm in size, held in place with cement powder sprinkled from an old kitchen sieve and watered with a garden sprayer.
Gorgeous little thing!
