  • Problem is not with Immigrants.

Its with Companys Hiring these Immigrants. And the Government Only Giving a 250$ Fine per Each Illegal Immigrant. The government needs to Shut down these Companys hiring Illegal Immigrants. Besides Giving them Fines my 14 Year old Daughter could pay...........

  • good story

  • buen trabajo!

  • Very compelling. I hope Isabel realizes her wish soon.

  • Rosetteismyname I think you're missing the point of the story completely... pay a little attention to it and you'll see.

She's not sending money to Mexico, she's undocumented but still paying all her taxes when she goes shopping, paying her rent and everything else. She's basically paying for the same things as you do and not getting any of the benefits, you know?.

Immigration is a problem? Yes. But a bigger one is not seeing the whole picture and realizing about those facts.

  • nachocorbella: NO U don't have a right to send money out of the country in which YOU ILLEGALLY earned within the country.Sending money out of the country is a huge part of the economic problem. I am not talking about her.I am talking about the overall issue. I didn't say that immigration was a promblem. Illegals are the problem. People coming over could be done more efficeiently if U wait they wait their turn. The whole picture is why I am against feeling sorry 4 people who are not here legally.

  • "But a bigger one is not seeing the whole picture and realizing about those facts"

The bigger picture is I do not feel sorry for her and won't support am individual who is in the United States of America illegally. The bigger picture isn't enough for me to state in my "remaining character count"...I will follow up with you more on this in an email.

  • illegals hurt the economy...ASK people who live in TEXAS, New Mexico, and southern California..

THEY teach them to come over here and get pregant on purpose so that they can be sponsored by their mom later...THEY PLACE their burden on us...

We Americans are hurting, they should be sent back NOW! Not only that but they send trillions each year out of the US back to mexico and other countries. They don't spend the money here, which hurts the economy. NO this is unacceptable.

  • You share an opinion many people have, with which I do not agree. Americans now are hurting, but I do not believe that it is the result of Mexicans. I am sure I will not change your mind with this statement, but it is what I see.

In this situation, particularly, the scene is different. Isabel is not sending money back to Mexico. The point is, that she has no one there. Her life is here. I would urge you to watch the video again, and consider this person for her particular situation.

  • No, I am not saying that it was mexicans or immigrants soley for that matter but yes...THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE that trillions of dollars leave the economy each year..In addition to lost income due to jobs that illegals take. Yes, americans are willing to do those jobs but we will be paid fairly with more money flow, means more pay raises. Mexicans definetly hurt the texas economy. ---NO doubt about that the impact on CA,NM, &TX is far greater than america as a whole. this is truth.

  • Rosette:

A persons got a right to send money how they see fit when they earn it. They want to send to their families back home? God bless. Same thing my ancestors did. They were lucky- immigration policies were less insane, and they could do it on the up and up.

Americans aren't hurting because of illegal immigration. Don't let your bigotry cause you to strike out against the innocent.

  • scottmpriz:It is unfortunate that just b/c we don't agree,to you, that means I am a bigot?! That is like me calling people who are against affirmative action-which I am for, a bigot.Which isn't true at all in my case. These policies R not insane! Necessary from hindering me further & my lifestyle & my future children's lifestyle. If they wait their turn people would get in faster & quicker if people waited their turn. Illegals would B legal earning more & ideally putting more into the economy.

  • Well, you can disagree with all you want. But when you spout nonsense, yes. I admit to the possibility that economic policy may move you to such platitudes that damn it, you are moved to demand deportation of millions of people, breaking up of families, and support policies that are racist in their effects.

Sure, it's a possibility. I just don't buy it. I don't give a damn if you hide it behind bogus economic theory. My advice is to give 'em a break.

  • the policies R not racist.Again that is just like me calling someone racist just b/c they are against affirmative action. Yes, deport those that have illegally entered this country.

It isn't a theory-"In 2007, remittances flowing into Mexico reached a high of $23.98 billion, but the Bank of Mexico estimates that they declined"

Mexico is addicted to and very dependent on remittances, Rodolfo Garcia Zamora, developmental studies researcher at the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ).

  • Scottpriz: Purse88 is right, As a black female, I am for affirmative action but that doesn't mean that every last person who is against it-is a bigot?

these are people. I am hurt in texas everyday financially by those living here illegally. You don't like the truth or fact on this alone?

For every illegal that comes & illegal removes their burden, they place it on me and others legally here. U.S.A. is not the only country with border control. These laws are necessary to uphold our economy!

  • Our economy by which is slowing and if you live in New Mexico, Southern California, or Texas, than you are hit much harder by illegals than through other parts of the Nation- Period.

  • you guys are strange and weird.

There are some people that will be hurt by immigration. Certainly. The economy as a whole is helped by immigration. Always has been. It wold be better if they were legal-sure. So legalize 'em. You live in Texas?

Great! You can work at the new ellis Island we should open up there. Immigrants and people help us, not hurt us.

  • illegals hurt us...illegals hurt me! period. that is fact

you are strange and weird...purse88 is right... should i call you a sexist or a racist if you are against affirmative action?!?

  • it's true, I can not deny it. I am strange and weird. Where I'm from, it's the highest compliment.

Now now. Illegal immigrants don't hurt us. They hurt you.

Affirmative action is beside the point. The effect of it on minorities is well, arguable at best. In general, I would argue for a affirmative action like program based on class, not race, but hey, look at that, it's got nothing to do with the argument on immigration, you smelly, smelly Texan you.

  • America's population is made up of nearly all immigrants, we're not all native Americans.

  • when ignoring the essence of time and space on every issue in politics things get 'better' impact is of importance to stress time and place. Philisophical thought could allow someone to say racism exist 100% of the time and everywhere, but I am talking about the how NM,TX and south CA economies are hindered-if people waited their turn, things would be a lot more effiecient and quicker about getting people over here.

  • but saying "we are all immigrants" does not take away truths of the current situation, Due to a 100 million person slaughter of native americans, they are offerred free tuition, etc, as they should be--we hurt their economy 'trail of tears' gold rush but where is my reward for being injured-stuck in crooks called congress, so be it, fact remains that the solution isn't to legalize people who haven't waited their turn

  • Rosette has it right on. I just wanted to add my thoughts as well - The native americans deserve ALOT. We've done alot of fucked up stuff to them in the past and even present, our ancestors for the most part to be more specific. The religious persecution & disease that Europeans brought over, to ALL regions of the Americas. We even label them as Indians!

Cutting off their hands and tying them to their wrists sending them running into the forests to cause fear, thx religion. FUCK COLUMBUS.

  • I'm not saying we ought to open up our borders and let anyone in. My point is that even us "Americans" are immigrants. We just need to make it easier to become a U.S. citizen. If they weren't illegal, they wouldn't be taken advantage of (working for low price - therefore destroying the competition), and it would be a win-win situation. Rosette, I agree with your first comment on NM, TX, CA economies. It's easier to make them citizens, than throw them out just to have them come right back.

  • A very touching story. You presented it well.

  • I'm going through the videos submitted for the Project Report. And once again - I think this is a great piece.

Many people seemed to miss the point of the assignment: create a profile of a person from your community. You successfully did that, but more importantly, as per the judging criteria - you hit each point. Great job and compelling story.

    Cheers
