prisons have everything, guns, knives, drugs, sex you name it. Personally if you'r in prison then I think no mail, no visits no contact nothing and you wouldn't have these problems. If the faculty were found to have coluded with the inmates, stripped and locked up on the spot "with them" done, no judge no jury period. Prisons could be a safe place but prisoners have rights too, really, fuck that, do your time bitch and stop crying. Thats the problem today is there is no real punishment.

Here is an idea. Stop punishing petty criminals such as shop lifters, weed sellers, and pot smokers with sentences served with murders and molesters and give them service instead and not regard pot as a crime. That way the murders and the child molesters will stay in prison where they belong instead of going back on the street and committing more crimes. Also have some form of rehab etc

tara- No one has a "perfect" answer on how to deal with the criminal element in our society. I think that randy109 is just pointing out that what we are currently doing is not only NOT working, but is actually exacerbating the problem at a high cost to taxpayers. I'd personally use much shorter sentences to free up space and shorter time would keep men from evolving into "Institutional" men. Use the money saved to hire more Parole officers so they'd have more resources and options.

They have a lot to do besides make weapons...in Missouri every inmate must work everyday at our shoe factories; license plate factories; furniture factories; kitchens; laundry detail; the list goes on and on. Besides it doesn't really take a whole lot of time to make a good shank they could hardly fill up fifteen minutes making a weapon.

Treating these diseases in prison has been a very slow process and without treating them in prisons we put more and more people outside at risk for contraction especially of Hep C. I'm sure you were joking but every opportunity to address these diseases has got to be taken in order to save lives. People are dying; even innocent people from the spread of diseases concentrated in prisons.
