  • Its good that The CW 11 demphasized its logo from The CW, which all looks the same from almost all the networks in the United States. It usually has The CW with City name or a number on it. But I like what WPIX did with their logo, it has some personal touch to it now.

  • In my area (Boston) (CW 56 - WLVI) ... our NBC station (WHDH) does it. Search WHDH HD on youtube, the open is amazing!! =)

  • I don't want these stations to standardize shit. Although some Trib-FOX stations are using some homoginized FOX O&O graphics and music. But for the Trib-CW stations, they need to keep there own themes. I hate when stations standardized shit. No Locality, No Creativity.

  • Agreed. And Tribune is going through a major market crisis like the rest of us. I think some stations will be sold off, like KWGN to Local TV LLC which is already under a LMA (KWGN and KDRV sharing personalities and a building). More that one marketing agreement exists between these 2. It needs to control stations in its local midwest market, not in L.A. (KTLA) and Denver (KWGN)!

  • No, no they shouldn't, besides how many CW networks stations are owned by Tribune, and how many of those actually host newscasts? Very little, yes. CW 6 in San Diego is owned by Bay City television incorporated.

  • Yeah, and its working so well for Gannett. We need induviduality in each affiliate. They represent there viewers!

  • This is definitely G.O.

That "RIGHT NOW", the font is exclusive to them.(well...they've only used it) Compare the WFLA graphics (LIVE---NEWS CENTER---HIGH DEFINITION).

  • so G.O. does graphics for 3 out of 4 stations in New York, eh?

  • Is that Kaity Tong?!?

(Still? I know she does weekdays, but maybe for HD Premiere...)

    Can't tell...

  • No, that's Mary Murphy. The premiere was on a Saturday, and Jim Watkins and Kaity Tong are only on weekdays.

  • Thanks...I think I need some eyedrops.

  • Now that 4 TV stations in the Big Apple have HD newscasts,it ties with the Cleveland market for the most number of stations with Hi-Def newscasts.

WNYW needs to go HD next. For some reason,me seeing WPIX as 4th to upgrade to HD seems embarrasing.

  • The whole thing with HD they can't spend money they don't have to do the upgrades. I would hope WNYW would have had the systems in place for HD, giving that they recently updated their set (Cameras, wiring). But I bet they still need to update their control room.

  • ...and the next thing would happen, is that WWOR comes in with HD (lol)...FOX is a big laggard in HD. The only HD Fox station (at least, to my knowledge) is WJW Cleveland. They have the money to do it...Fox is big. But

    1) They're too lazy

    2) Stations are not deserving (ratings, high UHF)

  • I think WTTG in D.C. might get its HD upgrade from Fox sometime soon...

  • I like how 'PIX (TheCW11) has improved on their graphics over the years.

  • I find it kind of interesting that the 2 shot right before the open had the bars even though after the open that same 2 shot was in HD.

    first days are rough, eh?

    Great looking newscast either way.

  • Very Nice!
