@leprincebeaumont .... "I'infido amor" l'errore pui' apparente, ma tanti altri, fraseggio squilibrato, pratticamente mancante; per non parlare dei tempi lentissimi. E poi con tanto controllo sembra quasi fredda, di Adriana niente... al mio parere.
The diction (as often with Caballe) is far from being perfect ... but this is certainly one of the best interpretation of this famous aria. She is indeed a GREAT singer !
@Faust075 I have never known a soprano with good diction, unfortunaltelly Its not something sopranos work on, however tenors are mo criticised if we dont work on it. Not fair but It is the way Its been maid
There is nothing better in the world of grand opera than M.Caballe at the height of her artistic powers. Caballe continued to carry the artistic torch in the tradition of full-blooded bel canto technique implemented by Ponselle and Callas...
Their soul lives in the drama of the libretto...and they intoxicate us with unlimited vocal colors and intricate(yet seemingly effortless) technique
I have to say, this one is much better sung than the other one from 1978- oh Lord! How does she do it? I am a singer & I'll never EVER figure out how she sings those pianissimos the way she does!!!! I hope she has passed the technique onto some lucky student. That said, there will NEVER EVER be a voice like hers again. ¡Gracias a Dio por la voz fantastica de la Maestra, Caballé!
Thanks, Montserrat for all the beauty you share with us, I don't know if you know, how beautiful your vioce is. Your phrasing is just divine, your pianissimi.....the words fail me, please, keep singing!!!
Her filati...what can one say... extraordinary, the beauty, clarity and serenity in which she sings this aria brings out all the drama the composer wants to give..Well worth listening to Freni's different approach too.
The breathe support and sensitive, difficult, not taking any shortcuts hard work she's giving... ONLY Caballé.

Nel 1976 riusciva ancora ad essere magica! Suoni favolosi, legato incredibile.....ma come sempre scarsissimo rispetto della pagina scritta!

It was sublime. I have always loved this aria, but few sopranos have done it justice. Brava, Montserrat.
