I thought bill clinton wanted to let gay people join the army. Why did he invent DADT, he could have just over turned the bar on gay people from the start rather than having to waight for 17 years for it to come. Did he actualy WANT to let us join or not, I'm confused. It seams a lot of his policy was violated by the army on a regular basis. @meatisdeliciouse At the time, Clinton wanted to stop the military from not allowing gays from joining the military. Conservatives didn't like that and so a compromise was reached. They ask if someone was gay, but they would still bar you from serving if you were gay.
