I remember having this on the "Shalom Sesame: Aleph-Bet Telethon" video. They had the shape names in Hebrew, but everything else was in English. I kept thinking that's what they were saying (and I'm like SOMETHING'S WRONG HERE!) until I saw it on the Sesame Street Numbers CD-ROM, and then I'm like: Whew. Maybe I was hearing things.
Does anyone remember another shape episode that had line drawings that "danced" to Dave Bruebeck's "Take Five"? I think it aired in the early years of Sesame Street.
anybody remember a bizarre scanimation with a shape blindly trying to fit in the correct spot, with a awful whirring sound and a plunk anytime it collides with the edges of the rectangle (whirrrrrr, bonk bonk), when it does, it flashes (ding ding). In later versions, when done with a triangle, it is Telly's dream of triangles, hearing his mumbling.
I don't remember seeing trapezoids, pentagons, and octagons 30 years ago on Sesame Street. Perhaps those shapes hadn't been invented yet. :-) Boy, was I surprised when I learned in 3rd grade that a square can also be called a rectangle.
And they went right back to 20 when the show's format changed drastically (same characters doing the same material in the same order) around Season 33. *sigh*

Could you possibly do a Take 2 on this? The sound is off sync.

Thank goodness for the days before Sesame Street dumbed down its material; who says kids can recognize only four basic shapes?
ISNorden 4 years ago
I never felt they dumbed it down. After all they went from teaching kids how to count to only 20 to 40.
