One these day, robot will able copy human's brain waves and have same thoughts, memories, and emotions. Yes this is what I feared, bringing back the one who is dead long ago will come back as devil. Want a service carried out or want a product produced, get the robot to do it, and if it can't perform then get the robot scientist/developer to make it perform. Best part is, robots don't ask money for their labour.
Honda ought to release this baby, and they should consider allowing outside developers to program Asimo. The mechanical struggle is over, well it can be improved, but what we have here seems a great platform. It's all about the software now, and allowing outside developers to develop Asimo's software, would mean that we'd have these highly advanced humanoid robots, capable of much more than opening pickle jars, a LOT faster!

He needs a source of energy that would last him on mars, or we'd need to build an energy-plant that could recharge his battery, and make sure that he never wondered off far enough that he couldn't get back home to the recharger in time. Maybe he could carry a solar panel, but then he's screwed at night and when it's cloudy, and what would happen if he walked into some martian cave?!??
@FusionDoomSkull It is, and it's definitely the future. I'm sure that lots of developers and engineers are thinking the same thing, and they'll figure out a smart way of solving this energy problem.
I think that maybe robotic engineers shouldn't try to give robots human faces that much.It's better to us have robots like ASIMO, because when it looks like a human, but still not.Because it looks enough like a human so we'll get attached, but still enough robotic so we wont get that bothered if it freezes up, or act weirdly.

I like how they pointed out how unrealistic movies depiction of robots are. Robots are just tools, and I think the world would be better off with bots being more advanced. Think of how much more time we've freed up with some of our inventions. Vehicles save us time when traveling, Appliances save us time when doing day to day chores. Phones and Computers allow us to communicate on a level never seen in history. And the space program allows us to make new discoveries in science. All positive.
@neamityowns Not necessarily. It depends on the person. Some might use the time to develop other skills and live a very active life style. Time freed up from having to do mundane chores to use toward more complicated and/or more physically challenging tasks. I think most obesity comes from poor diets, not technology and lack of activity. Technology allows us to do more and shouldn't be an excuse to do less.

point for the human to reach, when the human reaches the goal point, Asimo will try doing exactly what the human did and either jump over or walk around the hole to reach the goal point. If that works, try using goal points for any other situation, when Asimo has the hang of that, show Asimo a bunch of other situations and how to solve them.
I think that Asimo should know where parts are on the human body and know which parts on Asimo's body that they match up with, when Asimo knows that, Asimo could then observe what a human does in any situation like if Asimo was watching a human walk and the human came to a gap/hole in the ground, Asimo would watch the human solve the problem by walking around the hole or jumping over it (can Asimo longjump yet? If so, how far?). Asimo could identify some sensors as a goal (see my next post)
The good is how it starts then the bad comes...it always happens...Its great and all but the Artificial Intelligence is the problem IMO...just opinion so idk how it will turn out

The begining of this video is filled with so much ignorance. The robot is evolving and eventually it will have the intelligent capabilities to make decisions and perform tasks on its own. What it will do, no one knows. Until that point, the robots actions are but commands given from its human counterpart. And so, just as with any thing that man controls there will be those whom use our creations, our technology, for evil. And so, a Terminator-esque scenario is quite prabable.
for some friendly feedback from a future robot enthusiast i dont think asimo has to be that smart but things like homework help should be on your list of things to have him be able to do. i think kids and parents would love that i myself am a kid and think you would benafit marketing wise from that.
The problem with AI Robots are that if someone makes an AI and they treat this AI like a slave so do our bidding, then what do you expect it to do, sit back and take it. I for one wouldn't want to be someones slave, AI's need to be treated like a real person, we are all machines, were just organic versions, Data from Star Trek is a good example of how AI is good.

I think that Asimo should know where parts are on the human body and know which parts on Asimo's body that they match up with, when Asimo knows that, Asimo could then observe what a human does in any situation like if Asimo was watching a human walk and the human came to a gap/hole in the ground, Asimo would watch the human solve the problem by walking around the hole or jumping over it (can Asimo longjump yet? If so, how far?). Asimo could identify some sensors as a goal (see my next post)

With giving that much trust to robots, there must also be restrictions. Refer to the 3 laws of robotics:
1.A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2.A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3.A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
Without these, Terminator will happen D:

I have some questions,
If it falls down can it get back up?
Is it battery powered?
How much does it weigh?
Just the bits of the robot I seen were amazing.
I like it's movements (not too human like and not too robotic).
It reminds me so much of Robocop, although robocop was a cyborg and used an actual human brain to function.
Honda all I can say is great work, and keep it up.

The begining of this video is filled with so much ignorance. The robot is evolving and eventually it will have the intelligent capabilities to make decisions and perform tasks on its own. What it will do, no one knows. Until that point, the robots actions are but commands given from its human counterpart. And so, just as with any thing that man controls there will be those whom use our creations, our technology, for evil. And so, a Terminator-esque scenario is quite prabable.

for some friendly feedback from a future robot enthusiast i dont think asimo has to be that smart but things like homework help should be on your list of things to have him be able to do. i think kids and parents would love that i myself am a kid and think you would benafit marketing wise from that.

The problem with AI Robots are that if someone makes an AI and they treat this AI like a slave so do our bidding, then what do you expect it to do, sit back and take it. I for one wouldn't want to be someones slave, AI's need to be treated like a real person, we are all machines, were just organic versions, Data from Star Trek is a good example of how AI is good.

Dear Honda, we do not fear robots, we fear the militarys use of them. The Terminator ,you kept bringing up, was a military project gone haywire. Nuclear power was a great source of energy ... but look what happened with that.

@TheDrunkenBeasts If we have enough robots to be taking jobs at McDonalds, we won't need jobs anymore. It won't even matter. Renewable energy will be a big step towarrds an economy of machines building each other, powering each other, and running the world with no Human intervention. Obviously we'll need Human supervision, so those jobs will still be open. Until we get robots smart enough to take those too. At that point though, they'll be just like us, and we'll be working together.
