  • Can you share where an imminent mama-to-be can get her hands on the recording you used for this birth? I am very interested (and my 'due date' is in one week)! Thanks.

  • @mtpeacock music is by Steven Halpern, I used tracks from "Inner Peace' and "Ocean Suite". Wishing you smooth and peaceful birth :)

  • thanks for posting this video! it is great to see that Hypnobirthing is working for so many people. My husband and I are expecting our first child in May and are currently practicing the breathing and relaxation techniques. It really makes a lot of sense to me, seeing as how animals in nature so easily give birth to their young without a lot of fuss. The medicalization of low risk births baffles me and is dehumanizing to both the baby and the parents.

  • A beautiful video. I'm a guy, and stuff like this keeps reminding me how amazing women are. By the way, I myself was born on April 3rd, which happened to be the Easter Day of that year!

  • You did so well you shoudld o it at home next time!!!! And it sounds like you had a wonderful support partner (hubby)

  • @KatsKaptures thank you! actually we did do it at home after my second birth, x2 :) my third birth is in my uploads as well...

  • Hypnobirthing sounds funny but really is a great tool! I practiced it during my pregnancy and birth and it helped me to have a beautiful, loving birth that wasn't painful or stressful. Having such an incredible birth was so inspiring that I became a nat. childbirth teacher and now I get to see it help so many other Mommas. Birth really can be an amazing and magical experience if you allow it to be! Mommas you are beautiful, strong and capable. Believe in yourself.

  • hi iam doing a websites a watbirths bye

  • wutz up with d long comments?

  • this is what im naming my baby Elijah, from the bible.

  • @Newyorkgurl20 That's such a cool name.

  • The mind is a wonderful tool: you can even fool your own brain into thinking you're not feeling pain during childbirth.

  • NICE VIDEO

  • I had the last 2 of my 3 daughters at home, using self-hypnosis, just deep relaxation & meditation. No drugs needed. Just a little discomfort, not much, & that's what the relaxation is for, you don't feel it as pain and it eventually subsides anyway, soon baby is born! Doing it again, though, I'd have cannabis for even better relaxation & Irie vibration. Natural mystic mother!

  • if you are a woman who gave birth with ease and with support around you, be grateful. there are many women who dont have that..any way that you can say something positive to an expectant mama is good..better not to let our egos get in the way. every woman has the right to experience birth in her own way with whatever helps her to feel support so that she can get down to birthing her baby. too many women suffer from not having positive support. we must change that and support each other.

  • Hypnobirthing is learning to be extremely relaxed and LET your body do what it was made to do-- no forceful pushing, which is not natural its going against nature.Your body can do it all IF you LET it, u must RELAX though, and thats exactly what you learn in hypnobirthing. They shouldve called it something else because people think of "hypno" as something crazy people do and are made to do funny stuff-- not the same thing here people! How could simply being relaxed be any more natural?Get a clue

  • No matter what it is called, HypnoBirthing, Hypnobabies, hypnosis for birth, is a magnificent tool for many women to use which allows them to relax and experience their own power in childbirth WITHOUT experiencing pain. In HypnoBirthing we believe that pain is not necessarily a natural accompaniment to labor and that each and every woman has the power to birth her baby safely and comfortably. As a Labor Nurse of 28 years this is the best method of natural childbirth I have ever experienced!

  • Comment removed

  • @nursejaci yes I agree... I used it with my last child, who i had at home.. It was amazing!! It was so quick because I didnt evenm know I was in labor, because the pressure waves were like nothing to me and I figured it had to be more practice waves. So I didnt know and thankfully my midwives were coming to my house just to check on me when my water broke! When my water broke I knew this was really it because I felt all that pressure and could feel her head! She was born 33 minutes later! :)

  • Princess!! Thanks for sharing!! This was amazingly magical, powerful and beautiful!! I am so happy to give you 5 stars...running to look for info about the technique!!

  • What is a hypnobirth anyway

  • ~To Maremaid413~ Changing the way u feel about something is not a drug.. a drug is a substance. Learning to relax and having help is not like taking a drug. Dont u help ur kids calm down and relax when they are fussy? You may sing, talk calm to them, rub them ect.. so are u giving them drugs??

  • @KKL8721 I never said that hypnobirth was a drug.

  • wow inside the water wow

  • She looked like she wanted to smack that lady

  • If my doctor tells me that there is "failure to progress" I will slap him silly and get all my frustration and pain out on him. That's a horrible thing to say. don't voice it!! or, if you must voice it, tell the husband, in private. Telling the laboring mother that she's not progressing isn't going to help her relax and progress. If anything, it will make her stress out more!

  • lol so ture

  • My friend gave birth two weeks ago in a hospital with an epidural. She was stuck at 8cm and not progressing so the doctor 'threatened' a c-section, which upset her to the point of tears. So make sure everyone is supportive and you have a birthplan.

  • What you did yourself to calm yourself and take yourself to a "place of peace" as you call it, is exactly what hypnobirthing is all about. Some people just need coaching to find their "happy place". But, with hypnobirthing, you are awake and definitely aware of the contractions, pain, what have you, you are just more calm about it. some women do need to close their eyes to focus better on their place of peace. Others do not, and are very active, and even lookig down to see the baby's head.

  • actually, hypnotherapy is nothing like drugs. It's simply deep relaxation. If you completely relax your body during birth there is no pain.

  • Comment removed

  • I fully respect your opinion on hypnosis. However, I would like to point out that there are both artificial AND natural forms hypnosis, and a wide range in between. Midwives around the world will attest to a laboring woman being "out of this world" or "inside herself" with an altered form of consciousness. This state of mind was reached NATURALLY without a shrink waving a dangling stopwatch in her face. people who have been badly hurt speak of feeling "high" going to a "place" where they

  • @veryrarebird what specifically do you mean by "artificial" forms of hypnosis?

  • Comment removed

  • @Maremaid413 Just because it's your opinion doesn't make it any less ridiculous. How in the world could using relaxation techniques not be natural? You should do some research. Hypnobirthing is not the same as entertainment hypnosis where someone makes you quack like a duck. It's self-hypnosis where you teach your mind to relax your muscles so they don't cause you pain. You must think natural childbirth means writhing in pain through labor. That is very uninformed and frankly, well, silly.

  • @cms830 I have delivered 3 over 9 pound babies at home naturally. I have never "writhed" in pain. I am actually quite informed and do lots of research. The point of my post was that you can relax your muscles and put your mind in a peaceful place by yourself, no hypnotherepist required. For me personally hypnobirthing isn't natural. I will not call you and others ridiculous or silly because i am an intelligent respectful woman.

  • Case in point. With hypnobirthing there are NO hypnotherapists involved, the birthing mom relaxes herself. If you really did do research, you would know that. Just so you do know, hypnobirthing is when the mother puts herself in a state of relaxation using breathing techniques, music, affirmations, etc. It is no different than meditation. Is that unnatural to you also? You probably used self-hypnosis unintentionally while birthing your 3 over 9 pound babies. As for silly, I call a spade a spade.

  • @cms830 We clearly have two diffrent perceptions of what hypnobirth is, and thats ok with me. I am sorry if i offended you and the way you choose to get thru child labor.

  • Hey there. I was wondering it hypnobirthing as painful as hospital birth? Thanks! ;)

  • Failure to progress is usually the midwives failure to wait. HAHAHAHA I LOVE IT

  • As a student midwife, I know that I would love to wait, and "failure to progress" is based on the guidelines of the hospital that you work in. If you (the midwife) can manage to avoid the breathing down your neck with the failure to progress comments, I don't know any midwife who wouldn't allow the labour to progress more, always always assuming that mum and bub are doing okay.

  • @frankiio1 midwives would do that yes..but if obstetricians had the upper hand she would be in the operating room as fast as you can say caesarean!

  • I can't believe people can get to where they have "no pain" I think I would have LESS pain if i didn't have to go to the hosp. once I got there my anxiety made everything worse. I wish I had a way to birth at home or go to a good birthing center but the ones around here aren't trustworthy. I'm not pregnant yet, but baby #3 I want a natural birth again only NOT in the hosp. It's so uncomfortable there :(

  • You cab do it.

  • I'm having my 2nd baby in 6-8 weeks, and decided right after my 1st was born, that no way was I going back to the hospital!! I was strapped up, monitored, restricted, poked about... not nice at all! I'm having this baby at home, where I can do what I want, and not feel like a spectacle, If my labor is slow, then intervention is less likely at home. Failure to progress is usually the midwives failure to wait.

  • @strawberryme08 a lot of people think that it is NO pain, which is not the case in most circomstances. Using self hypnosis you can get full control over your pain, depening how hard you work at it. Some women experience this as very little pain, the pain being more manageable or just the feelings of pressure from the baby. It depends on the woman really =)

Being in hospital and out of your comfort zone will naturally put your body into a state of anxiety which is not good for labour!

  • Sisters, trust the process.

I have had 5 natural births. The last 4 were unassisted home births.

Perhaps this hypno birthing is good for baby as well since mommy is so calm.

Though I am very calm during the process, I do feel some pain. It's a good pain though.....Yeah, right.

Maybe I'll try this for # 6. LOL.

Strength to natural birthing processes! Peace.

  • Yes you can do hypnosis in the hospital - look up "Bryson's Birth" on YouTube, someone posted a video of a hospital birth where she very successfully used hypnosis. Look into Hypnobabies as well as Hypnobirthing - it has some added benefits that I read some mothers prefer over Hypnobirthing. Check out epidurals - the more you read the more you might want to avoid it! I can understand wanting to have it on hand though. A waterbirth w hypnosis in a mother friendly hospital would be ideal.

  • I see a bit of a disconnect between the words and action of the caregiver. Why does she use her doppler as though it were continuous fetal monitoring (CFM) instead of just listening intermittently?

  • You have to consider that the clip is only 3.24 min and she steps away at the end of the clip. That is not considered continuous.

  • No pain? Lucky!

  • Oooh, no pain? Nice.

I'm nowhere near pregnant, but that's something to think about for the future...

Btw, where having a homebirth/midwife is concerned...what if there are complications or problems w/ the baby?

  • dose this cost more?? or is it the same as going to the hospital??

  • Birthing at home with a midwife or at a birthing center with midwives is much less expensive than going to a hospital, even if you have insurance. And a lot of insurance plans are covering midwives now so it's even cheaper. Definitely the way to go if you can let go of the institution and the drugs.

  • I'd be scared with out the epidural...

    :(

How would we participate in the HypnoBirthing? Are you still able to do it in the hospital and does someone come to you in order to help do the hyno?

    XOXOX

    JULIE

  • You have to pay to give birth?

  • yes, unfortunately you do ):

    but worth it (:

  • no you have to pay for somone to tell you how to give birth, lol.

  • I also have delivered my 1st girl with hypnobirth in December 2006 and it was a wonderful experience. It has been videos like yours, seeing moms as calm and relaxes as you are, that made me choose the natural birth and hypnobirth method.

  • What a great video! I'm a few chapters into the Hypnobirthing book, and I'm already sold. I hope I can stay as calm as you did!

  • So, was this your first child? And there was no pain?

  • I plan on having a Hypnobirth in April. Can you please tell me what CD you are listening to? I like this one so much more than the Rainbow that I have been listening to daily. Thanks.

  • Incredible mom and midwife!

  • What is an HypnoBirth???? Machines that give you no pain...or.... o.O Confused now....=/

  • resting so that contractions don't hurt as much

  • its relaxation techniques to help during labor, for an easier and healthier delivery for mom and baby.

  • Hypno

  • i've read about hypnobirthing in the newspaper yesterday. and it wowed me. and upon seeing this video, it amazed me more at how calm a mother gives birth. that's a verrrry gooood pain control technique hypnobirthing is teaching future moms.

  • Is she in any pain at all? I never see a women calm during child birth..wow.

  • Such lovely peaceful energy during birth! This sure wouldn't sell tv shows, would it? They like the drama and fear... I plan to do a hypnob in just a few weeks for my little girl. Thank you for sharing your birth with me...

  • WOW. Thank you so much for posting this. I have decided to Hypnobirth my first in September. My husband and I are preparing and I an now SURE I will be birthing my baby in water.

Thanks for sharing- you PROVED you CAN do it calmly and peacefully!

  • I'm expecting my 1st child & would really like a water birth. However, having seen this video i'm seriously gonna do my research-this looks great!

    Thank you for sharing.

  • I have tended hospital births, natural births, natural water births, & the water births by FAR were the most magical, relaxing, easiest, peaceful, healthy, the way nature intended if you ask me. I urge you to seriously check it out, my friend who is very petit on her 1st baby had her in 20 mins with little more than a whimper & now 14 & never had a vaccination either she is a beautiful healthy being Also see book Womens Wise Herbal The Year of child bearing answers to your every ques naturally

  • I have had two hypno-homebirths...I wouldn't do it any other way.

  • what is HypnoBirthing?

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I have no doubt that this video has and will inform women that there can be childbirth without fear. I'm having my very own 'hypnobaby' this March/April. I hope your 3rd birth goes just as well as your this one. Take care.

  • Thank you for showing the moments before birth. They are as important as seeing the crowning and birth. With HB many focus only on the birth. Thank you for working toward change in such a positive manner!

  • very inspriring, thanks so much

  • hm, interesting. i should look into this.

  • That was awesome! I wish I could've seen more, but I'm happy with what you've given us to see. I have to feel sorry for everyone who's convinced that childbirth MUST be painful and that women's bodies are somehow not up for the task -_- , and I'm proud of you for posting this and for answering replies. Thank you ^_^

  • Thank you! I have to say that doing HB last time completely changed my view of childbirth and now I just wish that other women got to experience it too :) I'm looking forward to having another HB in April, but this time we'll do it at home :D

  • wow u have inspired me

  • I'm due in March and have been practicing hypnobirthing at home with my boyfriend, no classes, we wrote the script that he reads to me, and I plan to look just like until I meet my son!

Did you do kegels at all? If so, how many really? Will you practice attatchment parenting?

    Camille

  • Camille,

Good luck in March! We're expecting our 3rd baby in April and I can't wait already :D

I did Kegels (this time too). Just whenever I remember, maybe 2-3 times a day 2-3 sets of 10 each time... I really think it helps both before birth and after :) We use a lot of AP in our family. I have hard time putting a label on our parenting style, but if you read 'The Vital Touch' by Sharon Heller(which we LOVE), you'll see what our parenting is like ;)

  • Believe it or not, things didn't change much when I was actually giving birth... The crowning itself was so much easier this time, I didn't push forcefully and my perenium was relaxed. I didn't get the burning or splitting sensation, even though I got a tear (baby came out with the hand next to his head). I did hate getting the stitches afterwards, but who doesn't? ;)

  • congratulations, i think you did amazingly well. im interested as to how you kept so calm. xx

  • not all women tear, and the pressure of the babies head causes a numbing sensation anyways. i had a hypnobirth too, i tore a little, but i didnt feel it.

  • Iam a hynotherapist and would like to work with Childbirth pain control, this is awesome!

  • Awesome managment control, good job done.

  • Thank you :) I'd not be able to relax like that without practicing first, so that's why HypnoBirthing helped so much. That's what they teach you to do, how to stay calm and relaxed both physically and mentally... The scripts/excersizes/visualizations are all a big part of that!

  • Wow! That was amazing, and no pain!

    well done!

  • That's amazing.

  • Beautiful! It reminds me of my own peaceful birth experience..well done! :)

  • How can you have no pain? How is that possible? Could someone please explain?

  • well, I can spend hours on this subject, but to answer your question briefly... Pain comes from tension in your muscles, and tension comes from fear of childbirth. Once you release that fear, find a way to completely relax your body and let it do its work, there's no pain. With the help of self-hypnosis you can be deeply relaxed and feel how your body is working, but the sensations are not painful, although you can feel them getting stronger and more intense with time, just not painful :)

  • That was just beautiful! And attended by one of my most favorite women on earth, Claire Stanley! Thanks for sharing.

  • She is amazing, isn't she? I have no idea how you figured out that Claire was our doula ;)

  • I am also a doula and have worked with Claire alot, I would know that voice anywhere! She is marvelous.

  • Do doula's get paid well ? Iam a hynotherapist and would be interested in helping Mom's with pain control

  • It depends on the location what the pay is. I live in Utah and doulas here make from about $250-600 per birth but I understand that charge $1000 or more in NY and CA. Sometimes it is great pay, sometimes it isn't, depending on how long the birth lasts. Some doulas charge a base rate and then bill hourly if the birth is over 12 hours. There are a variety of ways to do it.

  • Thank you for your generous spirit in sharing this part of your birthing with us.

I think someone in one of links below gave the wrong URL for HypnoBirthing: it is HypnoBirthing dot com

  • thanks for noticing this, I think I was that person ;) I always used dot org at the end because that's the address I had and I just noticed that it automatically takes me to the correct URL :)

  • Wow, so calm and relaxed. How every birthing woman should be.

You look so amazingly in control.

    Well done.

  • Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

  • You've got problems. How is this disgusting?

  • thank you :) I think some people just want to go against everyone else's opinion no matter what ;)

  • I think the reason why people make such rude remarks, is becuse they do not have the guts to post something like this. Ithink you did wnoderful job on bringing that baby into this world.

    -Drake

  • where was this?? was it at a hospital??

  • yes, this was at the hospital with a midwife and a doula :)

  • did you REALLY feel no pain? I've been reading about hypnobirthing, but this is the 1st vid I've seen on youtube. What did you do to prepare?

  • yep, no pain :) It was intense, I felt lots of pressure, etc., but no pain... I took HypnoBirthing classes taught by a certified instructor (you can find one by going to hypnobirthing dot org)... I heard a lot of good things about HypnoBabies home study course which is similar to HB, but I really liked having an instructor ;)

  • Oh Olya, thanks for sharing, this was so awesome!!!!!
