I remember seeing this special on t.v. years ago. It was actually what got me back into Andy. I had seen old reruns of the SNL things, and Taxi, but I kind of forgot about him. This was what reminded me. Awesome.

Andy Kaufman is a genius, no two ways about it! He unfortunately got slapped with the title of comedian because that's where he first started his acts, he's so much more than that though... a true conceptual artist. He had a way with an audience, they might've ended up laughing, getting angry, or even confused , but the one thing they never were was BORED...never with Kaufman. Long Live Kaufman!!!!

I think it did. This documentary portrayed Kaufman as a nut job and Kaufman's daughter started some kind of campaign, with the movie being the result. Am I right?

I think Kaufman was sorta nuts but he was also a comics comic. A deconstructionist comic, y'know?

I love the opening song. I recall when I first watched this program as a boy on Comedy Central back in the mid-1990's. I was a big fan of the Taxi reruns on Nick at Nite, and of WWF wrestling where Jerry Lawler was one of the most hated wrestlers in the company. I was very surprised to see the King as a babyface in Memphis, and seeing Kaufman as the heel!

What makes it even more fun to watch is knowing that Lawler and Andy are good friends and that whole thing was just an act.

The "King" got his fair share though. He was a absolute famous star because of Kaufman and everyone would watch if those two went up against each other.

Brilliant. Kaufman knew what to do to become a wrestler and have hundreds of thousand of people come to watch and be excited!
