I BOUGHT A COPY OF THIS (WHICH WAS AMONG A BOX OF "EX-JUKEBOX SINGLES) PROBABLY COST AROUND 50P[ (WONDER WHAT IT COULD BE WORTH TODAY?) I IS ONE OF THOSE SONGS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A HIT, BUT WASNT
Rest In Peace, Gerry, and thank you very much for your wonderful music! It was in 1971, when I first listened to the Humblebums. And then the great Stealers Wheel, and finally your solo career. Here this early Humblebums masterpiece. "Everything will turned out fine" ... now in Heaven!
One of the songs I sung myself long ago. Admired Gerry for his unique voice and wonderful songs. His heart has run dry and he is not going to be an engine driver as he pointed out in Rick Rack. Who knows what the day will bring it could bring anything. Who knows if we ll still be here we could be there. Today my heart cries for a friend I had and never met.
I saw The Humblebums in Kirkcaldy, Adam Smith Hall, Supporting PETER SARSTEDT - Billy was the highlight of the night! Just introducing songs - but you could see he was "Special"
Wasn't this song big in Finland or somewhere exotic like that!? Joking aside i remember watching a Gerry Rafferty docu from 2001 on tv and Billy said this number was a big hit in some Scandavian country, even doing better than a John Lennon song at the time. The Humblebums were never going to be huge but both Gerry and Billy went on to be masters of their comedic and songwriting crafts respectively. Cheers for posting.
It's just so good to hear this song again after such a long time. I heard it for the first time in the early 70s on "Disco 2" which was hosted by the late and sorely missed Tommy Vance.
Hey bigmanio...I honestly had not seen this until I put on my version!!! Great minds must think alike lol...Anyway love your Matt and Hamis stuff so please accept my sub...

This reminds me of Joannes Room in Glasgow in the early 70s. It was a floor filler in those days.
