Florida: This is a program that has had 30 arrests in 6 years. The Florida football program has been a beacon of poor character and a "win at all costs" mentality. They rejected Dorsey.
Florida State: Another shining example of good moral fiber. This football program has a wrap sheet longer than most term papers.

Dickrod does NOT understand that he can't get away with recruiting players with poor academic standing like he did at WVU. Dorsey had a 2.5 GPA with an 18 on his ACT. You need a 3.5 and a 27 on your ACT to make into Michigan as a normal student
We have a great shot at getting Wayne Lyons this year, who has a GPA of like 4.8 or something rediculous. He's a top notch safety and I think if we pick up him or some other very good prospects, that would kind of heal from not getting Dorsey. I still dont think this is a closed book if Dorsey goes to a prep or JUCO school and bumps up his grade more, maybe does some community work, gets some good recommendations. Reapplys to Michigan next year, and I think it would be a different story.

@TheGloveMI I love Dorsey and It killed me that he couldnt be on our team this year, but I guess it just goes to show how high Michigan's academic standards are. I missunderstood it at first, I thought that he met Michigan's academic standards when i heard that he qualified. Now that im at peace with it, Michigan has some good shots at picking up alot of great safeties and linebackers this year.

He's just like a basketball player who just wants to sit outside and shoot threes all day and not bother to learn anything else about the game. Lloyd Carr put far too much stock in him, which, combined with the unfortunate injuries of Antonio Bass, was the real killshot before the 2008 season.
Big Will was a FROSH last year playing the most physically demanding position on the field. How many true Freshmen come in and wreck shop on the line, offense or defense? It just doesn't happen..ANYWHERE in the country. LBs need to step up and GRob will make sure they do. The defense will be much improved this fall. If you are true Michigan Man, have faith in the program. The pieces are coming together and you will get your bowl wish in 2010. I'd bet your life on it ;>)

I keep telling people the defense will be like the offense was last year. People are underrating their defense I'm telling you. People can comprehend how hard it is to get the spread working, but they don't understand how hard it is to have a revolving door of defensive coordinators. This year will be the 1st time for a while that Michigan will have the same coach for consecutive years.
Well, heres the thing with English, his first season was the 2006 year where our defense was stacked. And I think we weren't nearly as good on defense the next year, but I didn't think we would. I think RR got rid of him because all he saw was the 2007 performance, I like English too, but the main mistake was hiring shafer, worst d coordinator ever. Greg Robison is good, we just happen to be so young and a little undersized, but we'll get better, Robinson has a nice resume. I trust him.

Every year people say a certain freshman will come in and bring swag, attitude or whatever.
The only way that happens is if that players is an impact starter their freshman year. Otherwise, nobody cares how much swag you have from the bench.
Dorsey has a lot of potential, but let him get on the field before saying he brings anything to the team.

ehh i'm thinking Woolfolk / Turner at Corner, with JT Floyd subbing in every now and than - have Dorsey play safety with Vlad Emillien.
As the year goes on, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cullen Christian / Justin Turner as our starting cb's with Woolfolk / Dorsey at safety.
Regardless, we are VERY young, but have a lot of talent to deal with (and great size on our cornerbacks - none of this Boubacar Cissoko 5'8 bull shit)

One thing that annoys me more than anything, is scouts and talent evaluators overranking undersized corners, justifying it with "oh they have great leaping ability". That wont do shit against 6'3 recievers with great leaping ability like we saw with Micheal Floyd last year, Cissoko couldnt guard him. Worries me that we already have two more short corners commited this year.

zachbird, Ryan Mallett is talented, but as a Michigan student, I can say he is a drunk-ass airhead with no desire whatsoever to learn. He's just like a basketball player who just wants to sit outside and shoot threes all day and not bother to learn anything else about the game. Lloyd Carr put far too much stock in him, which, combined with the unfortunate injuries of Antonio Bass, was the real killshot before the 2008 season.

Big Will was a FROSH last year playing the most physically demanding position on the field. How many true Freshmen come in and wreck shop on the line, offense or defense? It just doesn't happen..ANYWHERE in the country. LBs need to step up and GRob will make sure they do. The defense will be much improved this fall. If you are true Michigan Man, have faith in the program. The pieces are coming together and you will get your bowl wish in 2010. I'd bet your life on it ;>)

I keep telling people the defense will be like the offense was last year. People are underrating their defense I'm telling you. People can comprehend how hard it is to get the spread working, but they don't understand how hard it is to have a revolving door of defensive coordinators. This year will be the 1st time for a while that Michigan will have the same coach for consecutive years.

Well, heres the thing with English, his first season was the 2006 year where our defense was stacked. And I think we weren't nearly as good on defense the next year, but I didn't think we would. I think RR got rid of him because all he saw was the 2007 performance, I like English too, but the main mistake was hiring shafer, worst d coordinator ever. Greg Robison is good, we just happen to be so young and a little undersized, but we'll get better, Robinson has a nice resume. I trust him.

I'm with you, goblue918. I think the awful Shafer hire was the reason random-ass Adam Braithwaite was made the new position coach. Rich Rod wasn't about to go outside the program again on a gamble once he realized homers like Mike DeBord and Fred Jackson knew their shit.
I really hope GERG has some Just For Men magic left to pour on Ezeh and Mouton. I mean, look what happened to Stevie Brown after only a year of GERG coaching.

Well Greg is coaching the linebackers officially now, so they'll be better hopefully. Stevie Brown was great at that spinner position. And I like the young coaching hire in Adam, young coaches seem to be doing very well nowa days.

i look at there schedule and can see them losing to four teams= Ohio State, Penn State Wisconsin and maybe Iowa. I think they'll win at least one or maybe two of those games, so i think we're gonna have a 9 or 10-win season, not including the bowl game.

He's starting out at corner cause of his current size and his blazing speed. Corners aren't known for hitting anymore. Just blanketing recievers and being ball hawks. The safeties are the ones that need to lay the boom down. When he bulks up under Barwis, hell be moved to safety in a year or two.
