rico would have done better if his reactions were slightly faster, when aqua did the standing fk, rico could have punished and countered with cr. mk CoD everytime

Zangief is pretty gay,

But I must admit, aqua plays a mean Gief..Its scary when he just walks towards you when you're knocked down

Bit of a gay matchup. When in doubt, Gief can always Lariat and Abel has almost nothing to punish. Considering that, Rico Suave did really well against Aquasilk.

A number of things can punish lariat from the correct distance, wheel kick, standing mp, a few neutral jumps, EX TT, even EX CoD from the right distance.

The problem is that good Zangiefs don't use the lariat in a way for it to be punished, they use it as a counter to punish you. Rico has such a great Abel though, a few too many roll mixups while in close against Gief for my taste but I learned a learned a few tricks to add to my game from this.
