everyone made a big deal about him at melbourne knights and everyone made a big deal about him holding up the ball in guus' reign. the fact is that he was tipped to be some big superstar, at least in oz and he didn't live up to expectations. that's the facts. if he was so good, he would have got australia into the 1998 and 2002 world cups

Pretty good goal. Always seen him as quite overrated though, especially recently (because of the penalty against uruguay).

hes definitely overrated recently but its not his fault. he was one of our best players once upon a time and a lot of people argued that he was a far more dangerous player than viduka which was true. hes been on the decline since he left spain and will never be as good as he used to be but he was a very good player in his day

@freshcelery i agree with that. he was better than viduka. if anything, viduka was overrated. he was terrible for the socceroos. he played a special role under hiddink but aside from being able to hold the ball up, he couldn't score goals. now the socceroos have mcdonald, who is hopeless and mkes viduka look good

i've seen him score a goal almost identical to that at national level more recently, i just can't think when it was. i think it was his goal vs japan in the world cup
