Elvis developed this over the years. He studied -- informally -- his whole career, but during the Army years he really worked on his technique. He was quick to show it off on "It's Now or Never" and "Surrender" two neo-operatic pop tunes. In certain ways his voice only got better with an impressive tenor-like range in his final years. Of course he was self-destructing in other ways.
holy fuckin dammit!!!!! now thats what you call deeeep chest tones.......you gotta be born gifted to pull that off and without all of today's special studio fx like auto tune......thats as natural and soulful vocals as your gonna get......
Audio = outtake from January 20, 1969 session at American Sound studios in Memphis for "In The Ghetto," vocal channel used here for L and R playback.
Video = "In The Ghetto" from August 13, 1970 DS at the International Hotel in Las Vegas, filmed but not used for 1970 MGM documentary "That's The Way it Is."
Your video of Elvis Presley singing "In The Ghetto" would be great if you let us have all of the song, please. Appreciate what you share because it proves Elvis music accompanied him, did not make or cover up for him.
i think so too. there's no software that can extract the vocals without creating artifacts and sounding like a robot from time to time. maybe the version of melodyne could do that but it isn't uot yet, as far as i know
My God, what a voice! Very hot and it is fulled with emotion. This song is beautiful. I would can hear him all day long with no guitars, drums and piano. Just his clear voice. I wonder if he ever sang a lullaby to his daughter. It could be wonderful.
elvis dont need backup he has the perfect voice love it

This is the reason that he was - and still is - THE KING! His voice goes straight into that litlle place in the heart, that moves you deeply ...
RockJim72 1 year ago
His voice is a musical instrument, he does not require effects or even a guitar. It is a shame to ruin such a beautiful voice with an orchestra!

This is from a leak of the original recording session multitrack recordings. There are tracks out there with just the drums, vocals etc...

ciberry,
Absolutely, Elvis Presley sang to his daughter because singing is what he enjoyed and his desire was to please listeners with his anointed voice.
