My dad had a heavy equipment yard full of junk. We would get folks in on occasion looking to buy stuff. Most of the time items would turn up missing. That is why you got the gun treatment. The junk collectors feel they are being cased out for later theft.
You know, I really like seeing the stuff they find. We do the same thing, but in a much more limited capacity. I would have to say, though, I would NEVER set foot on anyone's property without an invitation. If I saw somebody in my backyard, unknown to me milling around, you can bet they would get to see my gun as well. Even when they go to the door first, it is a rude and invasive technique. Stick with letting the hottie line your shopping up for you.

@JT8800 Some of these stories likely happened before they had a TV show. Its not like these guys started going to these places to create a show, they were doing it years before. With a camera crew there they are likely to have less people be angry (guns/dogs) towards them.
I'd like to see an episode of how many times they're told "no" to look around before they get a yes. (and likely the people who say no would have their faces blurred, etc due to probably not agreeing to being filmed)
