@reaper060670 - Season 6 was when it took place. Amazon UK have released the entire series in one DVD boxset collection set called "The Complete Avengers 50th Anniversary Edition". It contains all the surviving episodes plus a wealth of extras. The prints have been updated along with the sound quality. Well worth getting if you're a fan of the show.
A sad moment, i love Emma and Tara. I just feel Tara's fighting was a bit more intense though. I kind of like that..... But Emma wil always be the first for me. Thanks for this post.
The Tara King era of "The Avengers" still brings about a great deal of debate amongst fans of the series. In all fairness, it actually holds up quite well. Granted there are episodes that are below par, but there are stories that are very good. In short, the positives outweigh the negatives
Linda Thorson was only 20 years old, fresh out of drama school with little experience behind her and initially it does show in her early episodes. However, she soon turns in solid work. Worth checking out...
@woohooboy Just read ur comment on The Tara King ear of The Avengers..I've asked many times on here but to no avail so I think I'll try asking U..How many episodes or series did she do with Steed(McNee)?? Thorson was very beautiful but I thought they made her look weak compared to Rigg. She was only 20 & fresh from Drama sch? She ws a gd actress I thought. U can only work with what u've got i suppose, eh? Some of the Ep i saw of her were weak in writing,etc..Not her fault..
@reaper060670 - Linda Thorson was on "The Avengers" during the show's final season and did a total of 33 episodes including "The Forget-Me-Knot" which served as the official hand over from Emma Peel to Tara King.
Being the series youngest leading lady, Thorson's inexperience did show through at first however she adpated quickly and her later performances became much stronger and more consistent as the season progressed. Scripting also let her down as the writers didn't have a good grasp on her
Or she says something "..with me." Passes with me? You can almost hear the last two words. I've been over it perhaps 12-15 times. Its definitely something she wants to clear up and the "I'm afraid so," from Steed is some sort of confession. She's probably been asked the question dozens of times over the years. Guess it'll always be an enigma. Why do I get the impression that her last piece of advice to Steed was Diana Rigg's own lines?
Another thing. When Diana whispers in Steed's ear, what she actually says clearly isn't rehearsed, and both their faces immediately afterwards were a picture. Obviously referring to some incident during filming, she asks him, first in a normal voice "By the way, are you the man who...(whispered) passed the wind?"
Patrick Newell, Mother, was also in the episode that featured Diana Rigg's debut, as the man who travels on the same train as the duo going to the coastal town to see his blacksmith brother. I seem to remember an episode called Goodbye Mrs Peel, and always assumed it was this one. Laughably amateurish, the way the guy lets Tara disarm him so easily and the way she throws it, presumably with the safety off, back to him. Desperately sad to see Diana go, I remember losing interest at this point.
This was the end of the Avengers era. The transition from Emma Peel to Tara King killed the series - due to both the popularity of Emma and the lack of popularity of Tara. Emma Peel was a tough act to follow.
Totally d'accord! Great actress Diana Rigg was the supreme force of attraction in tv series The Avengers to me, and as soon as she's gone there was practically nothing the producers could do to help audiences to erase the unforgettable Diana Rigg as the real Miss Emma Peel of their collective memory and that was that.
Hi Friends, I am a French guy. I can't catch all the words that Emma Peel says when she is about to leave John Steed, from 7:05 to 7:18. Could someone write them down? Thanks a lot :--))
Because she was treated awfully badly by the production firm and most of people in charge on the set. Only after they had finished shooting the first series she found out that she was payed less than a cameraman.
In response to CrystalCLear, I believe the consensus on what words are being whispered by Emma to Steed are "Are you the one who dabbles with me" (dabbles means flirt playfully)
I have been waiting to see this episode since June 1968, when I missed it the first time and never was able to view it till now, 41 years later!!
It's not bad; some plot holes, though - like how come the first time Sean gets shot, he remains conscious and can run outside to hail a cab, but every time after that, each person goes unconscious when shot?
But it's still touching to see Mrs. Peel leave. Notice that Steed calls her "Emma", which he nearly never did, when they say goodbye.
Probably, because he was still high on Adrenaline after the fight? Or he just wasn't under the influence of Alcohol, like everybody else must have been constantly, when you consider the sheer amount of boozing throughout the series.
"And just to remind me, are you the man who.....?" Then she whispers. So can anyone lip-read? It looks like the last word(s) she says is "to me" or "me"
The ForgetMe-Knot is a much maligned but actually very good episode which as we can all see, brings the lovely Emma and Tara in one unique episode. The beginning and end titles are magnificent.
a pleasure to see tara king and emma in the same episode (of course not the best, but still enjoyable- by any chance do you know the name of the episode where steed is under house arrest and tara has to solve it?)
Nice way to end the show by kicking major ars

Love how Peter Peel appears to be quite Steed-like in dress and manner. Steed sees this and somehow I think he feels better.

@madmax8903
One popular theory is that she says, "Are you the man who ... dallied with me?" It does match her lips pretty well, especially the "with me" part.

And one can see that the grief on Patrick's face was for real, realizing that Diana would be gone for good.

Emma left to join her husband and Diana Rigg left to pursue other areas of acting.
