  • that bass drop

  • damn i love pete

  • So fed up

    what's with the scenes?

  • Another reason to love these guys. They actually care about their fans. That rent-a-cop has clearly never seen a rock show. Mosh pits happen, especially at a chevelle show.

  • loved this, too bad they couldn't do more, it seems wrong to pepper spray people at such a crowded event =/ cop needs to worry bout collateral damage

  • does Pete say, "what the fuck." ? <3

  • it doesn't take long to tell that pete loeffler is one of the nicest guys in the world =)

  • i been listening to their music recently and they are now even more awesome! They deserve 10 more fans!!!!

  • They did the same thing when I saw them in Freeport except it was a fight no pepper spray involed.

  • That guy has a hard on for some action, LMAO!!!

  • That's what we do at rock shows this is a rock show!

  • Therushingwind is probably 13 years old, so don't even argue with him. And forget the stupidass racist dude. He's also probably 13, so don't give him the time of day either.

  • 0:58 ...wait a minute, black people listen to chevelle too!?

  • @GHOST1130166 you're ignorant as fuck.

  • @GHOST1130166 not even fumnny man not GET OFF the thought that black people only listen to rap! we are people and just because hes black doesnt mean he doesnt like chevelle...i mean seriously how closed minded are you?

  • holy bass drop

  • Rockers who are too scared to physically intervene. And a bunch of rock fans also scared. WTF?

  • @TheRushingWind They didn't seem scared to me. It would have been dumb for the guys in Chevelle to jump into the crowd and "physically intervene" against a police officer with a canister of pepper spray. They did what they could, which was much more than many bands or musicians would have done.

  • @gilmotier it would have been "dumb" for a WHOLE CROWD OF PEOPLE to intervene against ONE (or a few) officers with a can of pepper spray?! No, it would have been sensible, they could have overpowered him (has happened before), and they would not been acting like sheep whilst claiming to be rockers.

  • @TheRushingWind Can't agree that it'd be sensible for an entire crowd of people to attack one, or even a few police officers, because one cop hit someone with pepper spray. If that had happened, a riot would have broken out, more police officers and MPs --who have weapons, I remind you-- would have been called in to "deal with" the crowd, many more innocent people (including children, as this was an all-ages event) would have been injured, and the festival would have been canceled immediately.

  • @TheRushingWind I like the way Chevelle handled the situation. They made their disapproval known, it didn't cause a needless escalation of violence, and the guy who was sprayed got to get up on stage after the show, get some recognition from the crowd, and share a few beers with the band. Plus, the show went on, people enjoyed themselves, and no one else was hurt. What's wrong with that?

  • @gilmotier Plus I'd mention the crowd would probably have beaten the cop to death, because sadly that's what happens in today's world. Someone get's made, a group starts, and they kill someone...Personally, the guy doesn't deserve that for acting out of line. Personally, I thought this was handled the best.

  • @gilmotier the fact that they, in such a cowardly way, spoke instead of acting, is what is up with that

  • @TheRushingWind It's never a good idea to physically intervene with the Police. Why would you think that?

  • @TheRushingWind seriously, OWNED.

  • @gilmotier haha yeah pepper spray is not fun!!! lol

  • @TheRushingWind You are a dumb ass. Please show me any other video where a band has intervened. It was awesome how they stopped playing just to say something to the officer and try to get the fans back to watch the concert. Also, these "rockers" are bad ass and the most talented band alive so if you don't like them then don't watch the videos.... because true fans like me are sick of smart ass comments from random haters like you.

  • @TheRushingWind YOU are probably the moron who put the only dislike on this video. Do us all a favor and keep your comments to yourself.

  • @TheRushingWind You obviously don't know who Axl Rose is.

  • @TheRushingWind Yes because beating up a cop has always turned out well in the past.

  • how awesome of Chevelle thats a first any bands i've seen actually stop midway of a song n try to defend the fans wow awesome just having fun damn it. but who knows wat da guy was doing prolly just smaking everyone in site. but yea that funny though" wow someone wants action y don't u go fight yur bestfriend"

  • Haha I rotfl'd when dean said "that guys got a hard on for action" lol

  • I like how Dean starts to play a bit of a circus tune around 3:55. Sort of like an awkward intermission... That's what I first thought of, at least.

Really cool of them to stop the song and defend those kids.

  • 5:24 Airplane broke the sound barrier.

  • Ok now I read everything, but I still say pepper spray was grossly out of place. uniformed officers, MP's are well trained in hand to hand and even nearly painless takedown techniques common in Brazilian jujitsu which I taught at the Iraqi army NCO camp in Iraq. 2 Drunk moshers are easily within their ability to simply restrain, and rather quickly. Pepper spray was too much.

  • As a soldier of nearly 7 years with combat duty, this band just earned my complete respect which isn't easy to do, I'm a dick. He stopped his live show dead in the middle of the song to speak out for those soldiers, hooah sir.

  • I think Sam has some sort of bass drum distortion/amplifier. Other fan concert videos have the same sound quality issue.

As for the pepper spray, HATERS GONNA HATE

+1 Awesome mod to Chevelle for not putting up with crap. Tool would've thrown something at the victim, at least.

  • My kids first concert!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that was so funny. guys get pepper sprayed and all of a sudden the music stops. lol thats awesome!

  • Pls don't feel like I'm attacking, I was just kinda disappointed that's all!!! Hey come visit my site!

  • Good music, bad sound quality !!!

  • @Longwaytonowhere There is nothing I can do about that now; it was just too loud for the camera's internal mic and there was no mic-in port. (Plus, I didn't know at the time that the sound would turn out the way it did.) I recorded another video of this song with better audio quality -- see the "response" to this video.

  • lol dean made so many comments"r u f**king kiding? y dont u spray us?spray me in the face.""yeah go get in a fight with ur best friend" and he plays that circus tune

  • Was that Pete that said, "What the fuck?" at 4:39??? I just find that wierd if it was because I've been a die hard Chevelle fan since 2004 and I've never heard him swear like that....

  • @Freddymyers No, that was Dean. See the video response I posted for close-ups.

  • @gilmotier lol okay. I was kinda thinking it was him

  • @Freddymyers actualy pete sed that once b4 but it was for a joke they played with sam in the middle of a song

  • @Freddymyers Harden the fuckup. Go to a Slayer concert LOL

  • @Freddymyers they're not a christian band like most people think. they got confused as a christian band because they're record company had contact with christian bookstores and they're cd got mistakenly put in those bookstores.

  • @Freddymyers He has sworn in a few songs, though.

  • Now THAT is what a real band is like. Like he said, "what's with the scenes"?

  • Who care cares what happened? Your fighting on YouTube? Chevelle is awesome and thats all that matters

  • MY BIG BROTHER IS THE ONE WHO GOT PEPPER SPRAYED

  • Always loved Chevelle. The fact they were so aggresivly defending the fans makes me love them even more. Awsome band.

  • @Cheamilion EXACTLY my feelings.

  • dallas cowboys hat ftw

  • @frogman8877 More like FTH (Fuck the hat) lol jp

  • @frogman8877 too bad the cowboys suck balls

  • THIS IS Y THIS THI SIS MY FAV BAND EVAERFRRRR

  • i was there but i kept laughing for no reason WTF

  • LMAO at the only black dude there...

  • @BaybeeDoll84 If i was there then there would be 2 black guys there

  • great reaction of the band! respect for that! most bands would have kept playing, they didn't! MY RESPECT FOR THAT!

  • I missed this show because of the Fort Bragg gates being congested with traffic. I work at Jesters Pub here in town (Fayetteville) and worked with Chevelle two years ago and they were super cool as always. And fuck the mace attacks. Thank You for posting this footage gilmotier. It looked to be a great show regardless.

  • The fact of the matter is the pepper spray was beyond their "rules of engagement" for a rock concert!! Anyone who thinks that they were well within their rights to use a harmfull method to control a crowd who was not out of control in the first place needs to wake the fuck up and stop being naive. This is right up there with that time billie joe armstrong jumped in the crowd to get back at a bully beating up his fans. I LOVE this shit!! Petes awesome!

  • haha i was there for this, it was crazy!

  • i was at the next concert :D

  • Nice to see that, not something you would typically expect.

  • This makes me love them so much more than i do already!!!!! Pete is so hot!

  • I was there too!

  • i was there! :D

  • @april and @Iris, there are several versions of this event on youtube and you 2 are preaching your stories ON EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM... We get it, let it go.

  • Pete maybe write one song about this ....

  • @CRitic2306 Pretty much already did haha, "Forfeit" based on simular events.

  • i was there!!

  • arguing over utube is like winning the special Olympics even if u when ur still a retard

  • wow, i totally love chevelle so much more now. way to stick up for ur fans guys!

  • It's funny how everyone's so mad about this and yet none of you were probably even maced or there to know what happened. If you want the truth seek it. Myspace /420mainegrrl Got the pics to prove it and my hubby and I were the ones that got the worst of the spray and you don't see us complaining. Get over it! Life happens!

  • Comment removed

  • If anyone wants the real story hit me up on myspace at /420mainegrrl ... My hubby was the one that got maced in the face while trying to protect me from drunk moshers. We spent the rest of the night hanging with Chevelle becuz they felt bad about it all. Don't believe me? Just checkout our pics with the guys... And TY Chevelle for one of the best nights of our life but next time we'll skip the mace, lol. Ohhh, and thanks for letting Rich drum on stage with you guys! You guys are the best!!!

  • @Irisjp26 I posted a video of Rich being introduced to the crowd. Did you see it?

  • @gilmotier ..... No, I didn't I've been trying to find it.... Where is it?

  • @gilmotier - Ty. I just found it. I really appreciate you posting it...

  • @Irisjp26 My pleasure. Thanks for joining us! I went to your Myspace page, but I couldn't see anything you'd mentioned since I don't have a Myspace account. I'm glad you and Rich had such a good time with Chevelle. :-)

  • @Irisjp26 moshing is a must for concerts

  • @Agateophobiadragon ooh, forgive me for my ignorance. Thank you for putting me on the right path. Whatever would poor stupid people like me do without you!? Oh that's right, make the deplorable mistake of grouping items like pepper spray into the same category as tear gas, i.e. What, in my humble opinion, qualifies as excessive force for this situation.

  • Argue all you like, but please don't resort to name-calling. It's senseless and immature. You can't make someone see things your way by calling him or her an idiot. All you'll do is make that person angry and then insults will be flying back and forth.

  • @gilmotier Exactly, it takes two (or more) people for true immaturity to emerge

  • if you guys take a minute out of your lives to watch the news 11 video, you would know that the mp's did all they could do to try and stop the idiots before they used the pepper spray. if you are on a military post, you have to follow the militarys rules on that post. these people didnt. its their own fault they got pepper sprayed, and i find it quite funny that they did get pepper sprayed.

  • you people are morons. fort bragg is not to blame, the retards that slam into eachother are. oh wait maybe thats why they are retarded. this was a family event, not a real rock concert. there were children there and the retards should have had the common fucking sense to know that. so shut the hell up, stop talking shit about the MP's, and move on.

  • @babins0908 THEN WHY WAS CHEVELLE FUCKING PLAYING INEXT TIME I C THEM I JUST GONNA STICK MY HANDS DOWN MY PANTS AND JUST STARE AT THEM

  • Some of these comments are so arrogant. Some people obviously don't know what happens at rock shows like this. Moshing and shoving each other and jumping are all completely normal. I agree with @Deadtobeborn . They can't book a rock band and freak out when stuff like that happens. I've been in some crazy pits before and never have I seen a guard even say anything if it gets super rough. Everything about how the situation was handled was wrong. Chevelle wins in this situation.

  • @mcrlvr10 do you not pay attention? oh wait, you're probably one of the morons getting drunk and endangering children with your immature behavior.

  • CHEVELLE! They did exactly the right thing!

  • No one should blame Chevelle or the MP. Who ever planned this event is to blame. You can't book a hard rock band and then market the event as being family oriented. Common sense would say that mosh pits would start and there would be plenty of alcohol on the 4th. If you are going to do something for the families, book the Jonas Brothers or whatever for the kiddies and have an adults only band section next time.

  • @april91b I wasn't trying to hate on anyone and definitely not our military

  • @readskin74 I see some "comment removed" messages, like this one, but I haven't been deleting them. Either users have been deleting their own posts or YouTube's server is experiencing difficulties. I think it may be the latter because I haven't been able to post a message on this page which isn't a reply, today.

  • @wavepsychic Well thats your opinion and what I said was mine and to me this was for the troops and I agree with this other person about not discussing politics on here.

  • This show took place on the base in Ft. Bragg, so many people in the crowd were in the army. When Dean says that they are going to war, he is referring to soldiers in the crowd, many of whom (judging by the crew cuts seen in videos taken near the pit) were in the area where the pepper spray incident took place. Please don't discuss politics here. This is not the place for it, and I don't want to see the comments section degrade to arguments over politics and other unrelated topics.

  • Actually, as i rewatched it, im a couple people ahead of you, sorry. just random observation.

  • @diefightingx3 You saw yourself in the video?

  • @gilmotier No, but i saw the tall guy that was behind me in the burgundy shirt, towards the left. im to short to see. D:

  • @diefightingx3 I recorded quite a lot, so I may have caught you in another video.

  • It's pretty lame that whoever was doing the spraying went straight for the pepper spray. That's how you handle an out of control riot, not a few guys moshing. Total idiocy. Kudos to Chevelle for sticking up for their fans.

  • @MandaOnFire89 are you slow in the head? tear gas and riot shields is how to deal with a riot. and aside from that, levels of force sometimes have to be skipped when the threat escalates rapidly.

  • I am sure you have heard their songs on the radio....you just didn't realize it was them. That is...if you ever listen to any rock stations. =)

  • yea im not sure it was mps either cuz n my vdo it shows a cop escorting them TOWARDS me in the crowd to get out~ ill upload it later~ .. tho either way... <3Dean~~~

  • @RayAir1

no it means you live under a rock s(^_~)V

  • @castleoutsider

No. It means I just don't listen to awful music.

I've never heard of them. I just asked some of my coworkers and they haven't heard of Chevelle either.

  • Its pretty jacked up to show a video CLAIMING that the MP's were the ones who sprayed ... First of all... This video DOES NOT SHOW the actions that caused the spraying Second of all... It DOES NOT show WHO did the spraying!!!! What kind of bullshit is that???? People are so fucking gullable and believe whatever they are told now a days huh? Shamefull....

  • @april91b If you'd have posted this comment on the other video I posted, your accusation would have been totally warranted; I misattributed the spraying to the military police in the desc. of the video after reading several comments from those here who blamed the MPs. I've since edited it and apologized for the error. However, I never claimed that the MPs did it in the desc. of this video (which was the first I posted). As you can see above, I very carefully used the term "security personnel."

  • By the way, thanks for uploading this video.

and i highly doubt Chevelle will ever return to bragg again, after this.

  • @diefightingx3 My pleasure. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

  • fuck the police

  • lol! i was there too! that whole thing was stupid.

  • Blue Falcons

  • It wasn't even the MPs. I worked backstage and it was the Bragg Police that did the spraying.

Further, the ONLY problem with them getting sprayed was because there were hundreds of pounds of kids in the 'Pit' which is also what made those selfish, drunken assholes irregular during a rock concert.

Not to mention their antics are an embarrassment to the military...

    They should have been beaten.

Chevelle too were assholes. They continued to instigate the situation on a MILITARY post...

  • @RetroMMA i understand your point, but it was a ROCK concert..with alcohol being sold, recipe for things like that to happen. There were kids that needed to be watched out for, and maybe it wasn't the correct place to do such. But the way it was handled, was ridiculous. Plenty who were doing no wrong, and having a good time were sprayed. Which is a great way to handle such a situation, isn't it?

Honestly though, I completely respect chevelle for standing up for their fans.

  • @RetroMMA It's not irregular; there are a few drunken assholes at every rock concert. But thrashing around in a pit (which is typical behavior in a pit at a rock concert), whether you're drunk or not, should not be an offense for which you can be subjected to such an extreme show of force, IMO, especially since pepper spray has a tendency to produce inadvertent injuries in a crowded environment.

  • I love Chevelle!

  • @ALT980 It was an MP you don't lose your job. They are naturally douchebags...anyone military affiliated can agree, the MP's on Ft. Bragg are ridiculous.

  • @ToyotaBayBeGrrlie It wasnt an MP. To say that any & all MP's are naturally douchebags is an immature & ignorant comment. Its ok tho. It just shows everyone what a douchebag YOU are :)

  • This is why I love them. I don't know how many bands would stop playing just to defend their fans. And I agree completely with what you said about their live show. I've seen them numerous times and it's never any less excited.

  • CheVelle is effing awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • Chevelle = Awesome!!!

MPs = Why don't you go sit in your cop car and eat some donuts you stupid pigs!!!

  • That band sucks anyway. Never heard of them. I'm sure most people haven't.

  • @RayAir1 are you serious?

  • @RayAir1 If most people haven't heard of them how do you explain that the last four of their five studio albums have charted in the top 15 on the Billboard 200? When you put out a platinum album, come on here and tell all of us how terrible this band is. Until then, go be self-important elsewhere.

  • Wow, that's fucked. I'm glad this didn't go down when they just played here in Michigan.

  • love them <3

  • Thanks alot, the audio on your camera is horrible but you caught the whole fiasco, thanks.

  • @chrisplummer You're welcome. Sorry about the poor audio quality. I like the Canon SX210, but it doesn't record extremely loud audio very well and doesn't have a mic-in port.

  • I was at the concert yesterday and Chevelle rocks and they are awesome for taking up and speaking up for this guy,and I thought it was cool they let the guy hang out with them. They were right these guys are going to war and they dont know if they will get to come back let them have fun before they go that is what we were there for to celebrate and honor our TROOPS!!!Thanks to our troops for everything they do you are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i can't believe i missed this yesterday...looks like musicians are finally starting to recognize fayetteville

  • Chevelle played an amazing show. I am so glad that Fayetteville's finest was there to "keep people safe" by spraying anyone that moved with friggin mace. No one was doing anything wrong. Way to make an example out of all the little kids and 4th of July celebraters having a good time at a Metal show. (Sarcastic and obnoxious applause to the morons on the force. CHEVELLE 'EFFIN' ROCKS!

  • haha it was quite intresting inocent people where sprayed also.. wtf!

  • So did they spray them for moshing or what? I wasn't close enough to see what happened. It did seem pretty ridiculous though. This was a rock show, it didn't seem like people or the cops (and I'm pro-cop) knew how to act. They need to either re-examine their force continuum for pepper spray or the officers/MP's (whoever it was) need some re-training.

  • @spc2cents there was a litte bit of moshing but no one was getting violent. everyone was having a good time until the police decided to bully everyone. If i thought my kids were in danger i would have moved. The circle pit was probably uncalled for considering children were at the show. But my biggest complaint was, there was children and elderly there. (it was a family friendly event). If you lived on Ft bragg you probably wouldn't be pro cop. Ft bragg police are known for being powerhungry

  • @artey1981 The thing that made me mad was the fact that they didnt try to break up or stop people from moving, they went STRAIGHT FOR THE MACE. little kids were walking out of there crying from being sprayed in the face.

  • @artey1981 I live on Ft Bragg and I am pro police. Somebody's gotta keep you crazy shits in line LMAO. Ok, just kidding there, but this hatred of MP's and cops must stem from a past run in with the law. People who have done no wrong usually arent angry at cops... LOL. MP's and cops are people just like you and me and they make mistakes too. I disagree with the spraying at all actually, I think the better way to have handled the situation would have been to escort the ones responsible out.

  • @april91b actually I have have a clean record, besides a few speeding tickets. I have a very close friend of mine that was done over wrong by the law. Plus I worked with mp's in combat. They are arrogant. So i have my reasons.

  • @artey1981 There are a billion versions of what happened. One version is that the guy who caused the spraying was ALREADY throwing punches, so to escort him out shouldnt be any different than what was already going on. I have served 9 yrs in the army (hence april91b-duh!)and ALSO served 4 yrs in a MP BN (I too was in combat with them). Those MPs are no more cocky than the infantry who think that there's no one more "Hooah" than them. So quit MP bashing for cryingout loud!

  • @april91b From what I saw it looked like the guy they were going after was the one throwing cartwheel punches and spinning around.

  • @april91b lol... i love when MPs say they were in combat and in all actuality they were in a convoy with pop shots directed at them.

  • @april91b the problem with escorting someone who is highly intoxicated away, is that they have this horrible tendency of becoming violent, and any drunken fellow flailing around with the intent to hurt someone because he doesnt wanna go with the police, can actually cause more permanent damage to the people around him. i personally have seen people injured because police tried to escort one man away. it was crazy how he seemed so happy and calm one sec, and the next he was throwin blind punches

  • @Agateophobiadragon There are a billion versions of what happened.

  • @april91b just for the record, youtube cut off my full four points of what i was trying to say and would not let me post more than one comment in a row. my main point is that the MPs were not in the wrong, that they were just doing what they could in the situation. i was stuck at a TCP and by the time i got back the man that got sprayed was already detoxing.

and i have one question. why would i bash MPs when i am one?

  • I was near the little circle pit that was going on. (i was trying to make sure my kids didn't get hurt) Well out of no where the cops started spraying crazy ammounts of pepper spray. It was so much spray that it actually looked like someone had a garden hose and was spraying people.

The ft bragg military police mentality: "We are going to spray you because we don't want anyone to get hurt. Sorry about pepper spray in your eyes little guy. I'm just here to make sure you dont get hurt."
