I suggest finding one that you are comfortable in: walking and running. I really am a fan of New Balance for they carry a wider shoe, which may greatly benefit you. Also, with regard to the shin splints: you may suffer from tight calf(s) or an imbalance of strength and flexibility w/the lower leg region. So, I suggest reverse calf raises-place your heel on the floor and pretend that you are doing a bicep curl with your foot. let me know how it goes!

what should i look for in a running shoe? im a little overweight but what kills me now my feet and shins when i go for my two mile run
