It happens when Mario catches on to the sixteenth pixel of a block, and for one frame, the game reads Mario as on the ground for a single frame. If you jump on that frame, it's possible to do "wall jumps" like that.

Not really. It's only cheating if they use it to beat the game faster, THEN claim that it's a record that they broke. That's cheating. Using a password just for fun isn't. That's my beef against TAS-makers. Many Tool-Assisted Speed Runners do so and and go around proclaiming themselves as some kind of champion because they used tools to help them beat a previous record. Some do, other's don't. I hate the ones that do. Using bugs and save states is not skillful.
