I think Los Angeles has more California soul than San Francisco. San Francisco has the same vibe that Chicago and the East Coast and Pacific Northwest metros have. Los Angeles has it's own unique vibe and San Diego tries to be LA but it can never quite get there.

Its a great version by Marlena- even with the misspoken "sundown to sunset" at 0:15. Motown studio writers Ashford and Simpson wrote this in 1969 for Tammy Terrell and Marvin Gaye, then Motown farmed it out to the 5th Dimension for the bigger hit, and TV show use.
