I think, by her comment, she just meant its growing in some country where labor is cheap and exploited just so we can get these "exotic greens" all the way to our grocery store around the world. I do believe though we no longer say 3rd world country, but underdeveloped. :)
@fanaticastype i was really enjoying the vid until i hear 3rd worl country!. what did she mean? it was sort-of uncalled for.. my eyes popped out when she said that!
I'm looking into what else I can add to my smoothies, like Flax seed and coconut oil, what else do you recommend is a good idea to add a little extra kick to my green smoothies? Also, is there any awesome combination's you know of (Like putting together oranges with spinach to better absorb iron in the spinach)?
@mreisma REALLY??? When you say 3rd world country do you mean a country without national health service or without free public education, just like the eeuu?? ; PPPP
Here shown is a 65 yr old woman who did a darn good job feeding kids & neighbor kids in the 1960's and 70's; now we live alone & have 2 shop & prepare food 4 only ourselves. Do you know how difficult it is to shop for small portions & make a 6 vegetable smoothie for just one person? ... let alone a 15 veg smoothie. Can we freeze the huge excess for later?
Feeding ourselves "green-wise" as single old women on fixed incomes is horribly difficult. Sadly, stores don't sell one leaf of every kind
ACEBAKER911, thanks for caring. I come from a long line of organic gardeners but only this summer did I decide to go raw! So it was right from the garden 1 qt fruit/berry smoothies in AM & 9 veg smoothies in PM. It was a fab energetic summer! Outdoor work all day! (I am 68 yr old woman; have never needed a doctor or meds!)
Now winter is here & my garden is mostly dead & I just can't conceive of mixing POWDERED greens! Guess I will have to buy bunches of organic leaves, prep them & freeze....
what I do is rotate my greens .I dont do alot of different ingredients at once. In stead I use up what I have and then buy a different green for the next few days.
Also some greens last a good time if you rinse them or put the roots in water.
You can also do some indoor greens year round.
I dont have a freezer and dont want one.Its not good.
catfish 740, sweet comment! I think young people with children should deliver green smoothies 2 elderly neighbors every day! I personally am on a campaign to find ways that elderly people (mostly former moms who fed our nations people for the past generations) can buy smaller portions of fresh veggies/greens & get the wide variety that older people certainly need! Old people become malnourished because of the way stores sell in bulk instead of packaging a broad range mix of this & that for us.
Oops, I didn't know, u have such a situation in US! In Russia u can buy any amount which u need (from very small bunch for 0,3 $) It's not a problem at all here...the only problem is that we have not big variety of greens in winter &spring. But, anyway, u can grow some greens!! On the window tile! (tale?) and pick
I'm not sure if you're referring to her, or all the handlers that handle the produce up to that point without something on their hands, INCLUDING THE GROCERY STORE WORKERS that stock and rearrange the produce they are selling.
Also, don't you realize that the consumer also handles produce because they are trying to find the ripest produce, which means they are going to be PUTTING BACK the produce that isn't as ripe?
And isn't it often a suggestion to wash produce before consuming it?
Hi, could you do a video on choosing greens from an asian grocery store? Where I am, I can only find asian/chinese vege so which are safe to put into a smoothie? Thanks, I've learnt a lot from your blog and videos.

Victoria Boutenko advises against broccoli in green smoothies. I don't think the green smoothie police will get you though :)

Hey smoothiegirl, great videos! I'm wondering, do you bother with vitamins or suppliments at all since you get so much nutrition from the greens?
