i just bought a colt 45 with the same barrel setup and thought i was screwed........thanks to mr cleaner i can FINALLY figure out how its done.....THANKS MAN!
I almost bought a SA TRP with this idiotic bull barrel setup until I asked the guy to disassemble it, and he scratched the shit out of a new gun. So I bought a MC operator with a normal barrel and bushing.
@MrCleanerNash Funny, the first thing I said was "Nice video", I thought it was very well done. Pretty sensitive aren't you? The ONLY reason I mentioned that is simply this: every novice/amateur out there that watches "action movies" thinks that's how you should handle a gun because it "looks cool to rack it and drop the slide like a pro" or whatever. Almost nobody ever points out the potential damage that can be done be repeatedly doing it. I was actually trying to be helpful, not bitch.
@aweaver1965 Good to hear your not one of those types. I hear people bitch almost everyday so you can imagine how annoying it gets. Yes, I realize how doing that on a 1911 can potentially be damaging if you do it hundreds of times over and over. I almost never do it, therefore its not a habit of mine but thanks for your concern :-)
good points from all. when i drop slide on empty mag/chamber, my (shooting hand) index finger slows the slide down just in case. mine is ooooollllddddd!
@ebomey not crazy...its like buying a sports car and not being able to open her up on the road. Some like to buy and fondle and some like to buy, fondle, and actually USE! LOL and yes your right it shoots too damn good to pass up not having it on your side. I'm contemplating getting a Springfield EMP 9mm though for alittle better concealment and still great 1911 shooting characteristics.
Nice video. I have had multiple 1911's that have that type of take down. If you have strong hands and just learn how to hold the barrel and slide in place you can tear down the gun without the tool. I never used the tools.
@noBuzzkillin No problem buddy. It was a good excuse for me to switch gears and do an instructional vid for a change hehe. Thanks for the cool subject matter.

aweaver1965 4 months ago
@aweaver1965 Believe it LOL. Doing it on rare occassion is not a big deal.
MrCleanerNash 4 months ago
@MrCleanerNash probably so, but not a good habit to get into... :-)

I've bought 3 used Kimbers--SIS, Compact CDP, and Stainless Target. Neither the SIS or CDP had the take down tool. I use a paper clip!
theWHIPLASH 5 months ago
@theWHIPLASH yeah I've had to use that when I can't find the tool.
MrCleanerNash 5 months ago
The only Kimber to own is a GRII and I don't want anyone to buy one because the rush will cause quality issues.
DobermansRock 7 months ago
@DobermansRock hehe...idk I really like mine havent had any issues. Although I've heard horror stories about some. I guess I got lucky. thanks
MrCleanerNash 7 months ago
What is it lately with people making 1911's with tool required take down? I hate it. Oh well....the SIS is still a nice gun.
