i am an east coast surfer late 70's earley 80's the only boards you saw were on tv ect . chalreston s.c. we surferd on any kind of object found . sheets of lost styro foam, worked great , but would burn you up badly from friction. wood hard wood hurt wood splinter wanted the feel of the board to glide any ways we body surfed mostly we would catch all most every depression thatttt came across are way
