You should blame congress not the pres, in fact i'd say this would apply to every president, yes even Bush. Not that the Pres shouldn't get some of the blame but most of it should go to congress. It's CONGRESS who proposes bills and passes them. Obama has veto, but no matter how hard he begs, he can't force Congress to pass or propose any legislation.

It was when the variable rate APR mortgages packaged as securities switched to the higher rate, that the economy went belly up. So yeah sure, it looked good on paper but the real assets were never there and never realized.
