  • "Even purists should enable "Cinema Smooth" because it does basically the same thing as what cinema projectors do and it looks atrocious without it. I suspect consumers simply turn it off because they think it's a fake "enhancement" rather than an essential feature."

  • @boredtrophyhusband tottaly agree

  • what did u press to make the change??

  • @gfunkgfunk First i changed my mediaplayer output to 24p and on the samsung selected Cinemasmooth ON and OFF

  • i heard 33ms lag not bad for an led, can anyone reply i heard that pc hdmi worked at 70hz T_T and that it was jumpy ready to buy. is it really broken? i pc game alot.

  • weird, i haven't seen anything on my samsung PS51D550C1W

  • @ekklesiast Try to see the movie that i post here. The Movie is "RED" and the scene is almost at the begining. I can see judder in a lot of movies, i just picked this one because is very evident

  • Is this your first plasma?

I'm asking because I noticed that in every single plasma I've tested. You can even see this effect in the VT30 (2011 panasonic's flagship plasma) videos.

And as far as I know this isn't judder.

    *sorry about my english ^^

  • Youtube video eN2S1qG7ctU 4:32 or 4:49 ->4:58 for example.

Or PWiJBi4RECY (take a look at the fluorescent lines)

  • @ptdayton81 Hi, i have 4 plasmas and this is my first Samsung. My other 3 are all Panasonic. Because all my Panasonic plasmas are old (2007) i expect to see judder and for that is normal. But this Samsung is new and i expected that this judder problems was all issues already solved....but they aren´t. Try to see this scene on your VT30 from the movie RED and then give me your opinion. I was going to buy the 65VT30 but after seeing the image i didn´t notice much improvement over the Samsung..

  • @pedrocaspedrocas I'd like to try it but i don't have the VT30 (maybe soon). All I can say is that in my Panny Z1(2009) I can see this effect also.

Now I have to choose between a 64B8000 and a 55VT30 (I get them at the same price). I saw them both in a store and i really like how the Sammy looks (even better than the VT30 in a bright room). But i noticed some brightness fluctuations that don't like me at all :(

Have you detected brightness fluctuations on your D8000?

  • @ptdayton81 Hello again, I am a Panasonic Fan. I love the image quality of all my Panasonics Plasmas. But this year i tryed the Samsung because for the same size it was 1000 euros less (64D8000 vs 65VT30). Before i buy, i went to lots of stores to see them alive. The picture of the Samsung, for me, was better. The Panasonic was too dim. Both have Brightness flucs. But you will no see them every time. Only in some movies at specific scenes.

  • @ptdayton81 (continuing the first post)...The only movie that i saw and was full of Brightness flucs was "Submarine" but even them was "watchable" because the BF is not all the time. It depends of you...if you see one Brightness Fluc during one movie is to much for you, then neither the Pana or the Sammy will be good for you. For me is not a problem because the image quality overall of my 64D8000 is simply excellent. Didn´t bought the Panny because it doesn´t deserves 1000 euros more

  • @pedrocaspedrocas Nice. I was been watching "Edge of Darkness" and I easily detect about five fluctuations per minute :S and the black bars very often became gray when they supposed to be near black. Maybe was the movie, maybe was the set, I don't know.

How about the black levels? Do you feel the BL decrease when the CS is enabled?

    Thank you.

  • @ptdayton81 Has i said the movie "submarine" was full of BFlucs, but for example the movie "hereafter" on the panasonic vt30 i could easly see BFlucs and on the Samsung nothing. It depends on the movie but overall, both have this problem. Even my old Panas, have BFlucs if i set them on AUTO on the picture menu. Black levels are excellent. In both sets. But because the Samsung ir more brighter than the Panna, it seems that the blacks are better, but i know that the Panna have better MLL.

  • @pedrocaspedrocas I know that CS will decrease the black performance, but the truth is that i don´t see any difference. But for sure that with a proper meter, there are differences, but to my eye...i cannot see. One of my priorities for buying a new TV was the black level performance. I loved the LED units of Samsung, very bright images but at night, in a dark room, i could see that the black levels were not so good. But on the Plasma the blacks are simply excellent.

  • @pedrocaspedrocas Thank you; that post answers one of my concerns. Glad to know that the difference is not wide enough to impact the overall quality in a negative way.

  • @unity2012 you´re welcome :)

  • @pedrocaspedrocas Then, if i ask between a 64D8000 and a 55VT30 your answer is obvious, right? :)

  • @ptdayton81 Remember that I am a Panasonic Fan...but for this year of 2011 the best unit for me between the VT30 and the D8000, the Samung is the winner. Don´t forget one important thing...for 3D the bigger the better! Even with 64 inches you will want more! Don´t forget also that some units of the 64D8000 come with a screen peeling. I received my second unit (built in July) and doesn´t have the problem, but the first one (built in June) had it but Samsung exchange it immediatly.

  • @ptdayton81 ptdayton81you can see some pictures of my set here (my username is PEEDROO):

    AVForuns and High definition Junkies

  • @ptdayton81

i cant post the links...but if you want i´ll send you by email

  • @pedrocaspedrocas I had already seen your set in AVforums. Nice set, nice pics and nice room, I envy you :)

I finally decided for the 64d8000 (I got it for 1600 euros, and that's too much tempting). Now i'm am waiting for it and crossing fingers that come free of the peeling problem and others issues...

Thank you so much for your feedback :)

  • @ptdayton81 WOW ! 1600 euros?? mine was 2750 Euros.... But, great choice you´ve made! congratulations. After you receive, send me a message with your opinion. Bye Dayton

  • @ptdayton81 When a put side by side my Samsung with my old Pannys, the difference is like night and day

  • From what i already read on some foruns, bigger screen sizes makes judder more noticeable. Cannot confirm this because i don´t know anyone who bought the 51´size...

  • Uploaded a couple of vids of a game on Xbox with the same issue. Is a bit more apparent... Unsure if I can live with it.

Played that scene in Red and barely noticed it?

  • I have the same issue with a PS51D8000 and games played on Xbox, so is definitely not your media player :)

  • @therealnzskater Yeah...i´m starting to accept this issue and living with it. Still this TV i excellent

  • Hi its WATTS from AV Forums. Mine seems fine, maybe your media player isn't handling 24hz properly?

  • @Cruiseblackpool Hi watts! I will try other media players, but i think mine is ok (Netgear NTV550)
