  • Very well done

  • @EpicViolinGuy -- hey thanks so much!!!

  • you guys are amazing! i'm a student violinist but maybe this year i will try to play viola too :) peoples in my country said viola is a difficult and a rare thing..any suggestion to get a good start for viola ? thanks :)

  • increibleeee !!!

  • @chunzhoo -- whoa, glad you liked it!

  • Very well played. If I could just make one suggestion: some dynamics would be great because it just sounded all forte to fortissimo. Nevertheless, keep up the good work.

  • @Killer390 -- hi, glad you liked it. this was not a performance. it was a warm up and we amp up to hear the acoustics of the room ;)

  • Es increíble. Verdaderamente increíble. Sois unos genios, y encima hermanos O_O

  • @Cryspiano -- whoa, muchas gracias! mi hermano toca bien, pero él sigue siendo mi hermano, así que no pienso que debemos decirle que él es un genio, lol :)

  • hey this is very good :)

  • @harrymcl4848 -- thanks...glad you found this version, lol :)

  • @Musicasa2ndlanguage hehe no problem :)

  • How difficult is this for you to perform, you make it look so easy.

  • @RWW124 -- well, our teacher always says, practice it until you can do it with one hand tied behind your back, lol...it was hard at first, not so much anymore :)

  • excellent. well done.

  • @bennydahan -- thanks!!!

  • AHH YOU GUYS ARE SO GOOD!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AH AHA HA AHA AH AHA AHA HAA A SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!

  • This is suuuuuch a great duet. You guys are FANTASIC musicians!!

  • @jesuisargent -- whoa, thanks so much!!!

  • Bet they did well at that concert.

  • @sushiknittingowls --- we had a great time playing that day...we performed with one of the greatest retired american cellists...it was a real honor :)

  • the violist played well, but it should make an attempt to look at the violinist, good work!

  • @BabboV -- well this was just a warm up and the violist is my brother...the less we look at each other, the better sometimes. if you have siblings, especially siblings that you perform with alot, you'll definately understand this concept, lol. btw, the violist also got a full scholarship this year to a major conservatory...he's doing ok, i guess :)

  • Absolutely beautiful. You two are texbook example of violin/viola roles.

  • @hisvictimesty -- thanks so much :)

  • all you're missing is a cello ;) we just started this in orchestra about a day ago. personally its the most fun thing ive ever played and cant stop.

  • @BrieIsAwesomeTer -- i've done this with a cellist instead of my brother...always nice to play without my brother (just kidding), lol :)

  • omg that was crazy good. make me look like shit

  • muy linda versión y que buena técnica que tienen ambos me gusto mucho felicidades !!!!!

  • @manofzanarkand -- muchas gracias!!!

  • your brother is great at viola for just pickin it up a few months ago from violin. switchin to violin to viola is good cuz you can play faster on the violin then viola, but then it makes playin viola easier. i play viola but im learnin violin and its hard switchin

  • @poppasmurfy99 -- give it time...you'll get it :)

  • wow :O i play the violin too but you 're sooo better than me. how old are you here? :)

  • @zemoroza -- i guess i was around 15. thanks for watching the video :)

  • amazing i am a violist but i live in brazil and i am learning how to play this music

  • @MultiAtsuya -- its a wonderful piece...hope you post a video when you've learned it :)

  • it's so beautiful...i just want to cry..omg..omg..omg..yea i've already commented twice..and this is like my 5th time playing it...

  • @bobbybabyv98 -- we have no problem with that, lol :)

  • @bobbybabyv98 -- glad you liked it :)

  • 0.o if this was the warmup,i want to hear the performance

  • @bobbybabyv98 -- we wish we could have recorded the actual performance, but they wouldn't let us do that :(

  • OMG..this is inspiring...very inspiring..like so inspiring.that i shuold go tell my mom to sign me up for private lessons, right now..cause i can play...but you two are awesome!

  • It's awesome to see you guys on youtube.

It's been a while, but I still remember our days with Mr. Meyer in Philly

    Congrats on a great performance

    Dan

  • @gccdaniel -- daniel k? is that you?

  • @Musicasa2ndlanguage --- yes siree

    youtube username is email

    gmail

  • I love it!! Great job!!!

  • @AudredDax -- thanks :)

  • How long did it take you too play it like this!!!!!!! ITS SO HARD!!!! I practiced for 1.5 months and it still sounds like poo :(

  • @RobertHuck64 -- we practiced it individually for about a week, then put it together and worked on it for a couple of weeks. then we just slowly worked it up to perform it...maybe another week or two. its not the easiest piece, so 1.5 months is about right...hang in there, you'll get it.

  • That was DOPE.

  • @Boofernut -- hey thanks!!!

  • don't get tired of hearing this video and all of your videos :D

  • @hobbitg3 -- hi, glad to have you watching :)

  • that was.....AMAZING!!! :D

  • @Invicible91 -- whoa, thanks so much!!!

  • I think I recognize you guys; you played for eboyinc, right?

  • @unotelly --- yep, thats us :)

  • Simply amazing! Congrats on your brother!

  • @ChristianOrtega123 -- thanks!!!

  • A precise and relaxed performance. The brother was correct in attempting a tempo change.

I seem to hear a metronomic interpretation of the piece. Now that Halverson is virtually mastered by both, a version with more abandon and lush interpretation could make it world class.

  • just don't not what to say =), exelent job

  • @alic2050 -- thanks!!!

  • This is a WARMUP? Amazing<3 [:

  • @hrbanana20 -- glad you liked it :)

  • both of you are amazing... speechless, you sound just like zukerman and perlman :O

  • @nergal666 -- whoa, thanks so much!!!

  • How long did it take for you two to learn this song? & HOW ARE YOU BOWING SO FAST, CHANGING TO DIFFERENT STRINGS, & LIKE.. DOWN OR UP BOWING REPEATDLY WITHOUT SQUEAKING, BOUNCING YOUR BOW, OR HITTING OTHER STRINGS. WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF.

  • @mysterious494 -- well, learning a piece doesn't take that long, but acquiring the techniques that a piece requires does take some time...we'd both been playing for several years before we started the passacaglia. as for how we're boing...didn't you hear my brother squeeking, lol :)

  • You look like Emma Watson lol. Good Performance!

  • @jessewang1 -- thats a good thing, right?

  • You guys are MAD GOOOODDDDDD

    <3333

  • @classiccandle27 -- hey thanks :)

  • I'm speechless...

  • @LeChuckster -- that's good, right :)

  • @Musicasa2ndlanguage U BET IT'S GOOD :D:D:D As an aspiring violinist myself, I am now a HUGE fan :)

  • @Musicasa lol you're quite welcome, Hun. I really liked your interpretation of this song :D It's like, my favorite duet of all time. Watching you two play it brings back sooo many memories.

  • Guy on viola, you're awesome ;)

But of course you sister did really good too but I'm a violist soooo... Haha yeah ^-^

  • @LinkLikesTurtles -- on behalf of my brother, thanks...and i guess i should thank you too, lol...

  • the 4 people that disliked this video should have a violin shoved up their ass cos these guys play really good. Great video!

  • Parabens, muito bom.

  • Congrats guys....beautiful!!!

  • @luisasimoni -- thanks so much...and thanks for watching!!!

  • How long have you guys been playing?? This is amazing!!!!!!!

  • @MrSkinner25 -- thanks for watching...we started in 4th grade in our school music program (that's a plug for music education in the public schools...).

  • Hey! Nice viola debut. I wish I started on the violin. William Primrose said that he preferred those that started on the violin because they generally have faster fingers. :[ Too late now!

  • @LonerlovezL -- well, primrose would know, lol...but seriously i keep telling my brother that he should have played the viola from the start :)

  • @Musicasa2ndlanguage Oh heck yes! He is a natural! You miss, are definitely on your way to stardom as well! Good luck with your studies and keep playing - it would be a shame if you stopped anytime soon.

  • beautiful. simply beautiful.

i also admire mr. wells cunningham's performance, but obviously he can't play both instruments at the same time...

    bravo!!!

  • @optimusimperat -- whoa, thanks so much...

  • I wonder how musch is your viola ... sounds really viola !!!

  • @EflatViola -- i wouldn't have any idea of its value. its been in our family for awhile. its an american made violin from the 1950s...a very nice viola for sure.

  • Wish I can be as good as you guys one day :) Good Job!

  • @Pickaach3 -- practice alot....you'll be better than us (especially better than my brother, lol :)

  • WOW, HOW...

  • AMAZING! Thx u so much for sharing! Watching you two play is an incredible inspiration to me and motivates me to practice (my viola) more so I can get as good as you both one day!

  • @salyerbronx -- hey thanks so much...inspiration is definately part of musicality...enjoyment, too. good luck with your practicing :)

  • The people in the background were surprised and froze for a moment...it was awesome.

  • amazing job

  • @pikachoi2007 -- hey thanks!

  • Bravo!

  • @dconstanza -- whoa, thanks so much!

  • This Rotary, hey? why not allow the recording? Or even the execution of a song should be "discreet"?

Congratulations to you all! Keep it up.

    Hugs from Brazil!

  • @1935tda2 -- obrigado :)

  • this is awsome im a violaist but i think it would take me years to learn this but this song is played so butifully im crying

  • @MrXdomaX -- thanks so much!!!

  • What grade are you both in, and where are yall from

  • I love this video. This song is so beautiful. I would love to try it for myself as for i play the Viola

  • you should be a violist!

  • @ajcregg -- agreed :)

  • Great job, im also a violinist, I hope to be as good as you someday! Very beautiful song and perfect pitch! Again, very well:D

  • @xXcoLTsFanXxX -- hey thanks....glad you liked it.

  • Awesome idea to pick up the viola ;p i've played for six years and there need to be more of us out there. My friend who has played the violin for 8 or 9 years and i are beginning to practice: not planning to actually do it well for a few years ;p I am a freshman at an arts high school that i attend for viola, so i'm amping up my practice schedule to an hour and half to 2 hrs a day, just finished practicing actually. this is reallyreally good! I want to sound like you guys!

  • @IzziMyBell7 -- well, as a violinist (and the violist's sister) i'm not sure i agree completely, lol, but seriously, hes a seriously awsome violinist, but he has a real flare for the viola. how lucky that you've finished practicing...i've been putting it off all day...now, i have to get started. keep up the good work :)

  • que lindda es la chica =)

  • @Mecoboy12345 -- muchas gracias :)

  • Great performance, not an easy piece by any means. You should be nicer to your sister btw, she's as gorgeous as she is talented. ;)

  • The girl looks alot like Emma Watson! :))

  • @chompet123 -- oh great, i have enough trouble with my sister without her thinking she looks like emma watson, lol :)

  • @chompet123 I had that exact same thought!!

  • @VikingMan44 -- please, please stop with the emma watson comments, lol...speaking as her brother, i can assure you, she's no emma watson!!! (ps: i hope she doesn't see this)

  • i just want to let you guys know you really inspire me. your one of my main sources for violin music. I'll be picking one up soon.

  • @paulmcemly -- whoa, thanks so much...and good luck with the violin!!!

  • i so want a sibling who plays the violin well

  • @seahyimin -- be careful what you wish for :)

  • @Musicasa2ndlanguage oh i have 2 siblings who stopped playing music after their grade 8. i just want them to be more passionate about music

  • though kids

  • los felicito chicos !!! muy bueno un talento enorme !!!

  • @begurivan -- !muchas gracias!

  • Just got a violin not to long ago, hope one day I can do this :) sounded great. The dude looks like Dexter from the series lol

  • @Scwibbles91 -- the dude is my brother and yeah, i kinda think of him as a dexter...definnately, lol :)

  • i am going to start playing the viola, and was just wondering how much time you both put in to practising to get as great as you are now!!! :)

  • @annamarie1213 its not as much the time you put in as the concentration and efficiency of what you're doing while you are practicing- you can practice for hours and not really accomplish anything. And nice call on picking up the viola!! :)

  • @annamarie1213 -- well, i practice way more than my brother, lol, but we both try to put in at least 3 hours a day (not three hours in a row, but a total of about 3 hours). we also try to just play for about an hour or so...stuff we love, duets....just for fun. i think if you're just starting out, an hour would be fantastic. take it slow and easy, pay close attention to your sound and intonation, and don't fret over the hard stuff...it comes a little at a time :)

  • You guys are great! This literally just inspired me to play this :) GREAT JOB

  • @jc28903 -- hey thanks so much! we hope you post it when you perform it...if you do, let us know...we'd like to hear it :)

  • I admit i keep replaying this over and over and over again

  • @RobertHuck64 -- i think thats a good thing, lol...keep it up :)

  • this is an excellent piece and an equally excellent performance! brings me back to when I used to play the violin XD

  • @dracerthemagi -- that's cool....thanks :)

  • Bravoooo!!!

  • @charlee03 -- whoa, thanks!!!!

  • i never thought i'd say this... but I MISS MY VIOLA D: i'm gonna buy one instead of renting it and learn to play this...

  • @leo7251998 -- cool!!!!

  • You guys are the absolute best!!!!!!

  • @sonataspartitas -- whao, thanks!!!

  • I wish I could play like that

  • @poposisa -- why not? its just a matter of patience and practice :)

  • Have you seen William Primrose perform Paganini Caprice #24 on Viola? Would be awesome to see your brother play that :)

  • @stringscgda -- we've heard the primrose recording...he's fast! i'm sure my bro will get around to it :)

  • Pretty awesome stuff there, very nice

  • @MrSamuller1 -- hey thanks!!!

  • I cant tell you guys how many times i've listened to this. Im just starting my 3rd year of playing the viola, i want to be able to play like this some day.

  • Very beautiful.

  • really awesome job :) im learning the violin part

  • so excited to start this piece with my friend next year! looks like such a challenge!

  • This is such a great video! I'm learning this right now in my lessons! I play viola!

  • @orcdork111 -- hey thanks!!! my brother and i wanted to play this piece so much that he learned to play the viola just so we could do it. now he's totally in love with the viola. post your passacaglia when you've got it down and let us know...we'd love to hear it :)

  • @Musicasa2ndlanguage sure enough, viola is addictive :)

  • @Musicasa2ndlanguage You're so lucky !! I'd love to play duets with my brothers or sisters (I have 4) but none of them are interested in music :(

Anyway, your performance is awesome !

  • Super!!!

  • @12345Violist -- thanks so much!!!

  • ustedes tocan mucho mejor que yo... ustedes me dan mas animos para continuar tocando
