How come your unit doesn't have a volume drop when you turn it on. Mine does. Is yours modded? Also, what is the power adapter you are using? Thanks a lot!
@louloomis I sold this but still have the smaller MP-1. Neither have a volume drop; in fact the volume goes UP when "Balls" is turned up full. Some MSP's use 9-volt power supply, some 12-volt. If it drops volume with a fresh battery, there's something wrong. IThe circuit is pretty complicated, but service manuals are available online so a decent tech should be able to fix it.
Friend, in addition to configurations already informed you would have to demonstrate other settings? I liked the setting Univibe - Balls = 0 and Speed = 2.
@marcelopontes999 To me the middle speed setting (1:05) sounds more like the classic Hendrix Univibe sound. With speed and balls it isn't that complicated, so a PDF doesn't seem necessary. I have a copy of the service manual, but sold this pedal long ago. I still have the smaller MP-1 (same effect, no speed ramping).
@marcelopontes9991:05 is the time point on the video. As I said I no longer have the pedal, but I believe that PRESET speed is about equal to 5. Balls is at 0 at that point in the video.
@shckltnebay I sold this, so I don't know the exact measurements. For reference my foot is a size 10. I still have the smaller (but not small) MP-1, with no speed ramping.
@timersk1234 Alex Lifeson had either this Phasor or the smaller version (both use the same phasing circuit). I'm not sure if it was used on that particular song, but probably.
I was thinking of buying one of these. I would be interested to know if this was the phaser Alex Lifeson used quite a bit with the early Rush songs. Anthem has a nice soft touch of phaser to it and a bunch of others. Was it the Meastro Phaser that got this tone.
It sounded like you were sort of playing the middle part to Badfinger's 'No Matter What'.....Anyways, a PERFECT demo here, and there are precious few on YouTube. You got everything right! And a fantatstic sounding phaser, I might add. Prob. the best Leslie simulator I've ever heard from a pedal-
Those lights would eat a battery pretty fast, so it's a good thing the engineers designed it that way. Unlike most effects, the battery is still connected when the power supply is plugged in. The battery helps filter power supply hum, so you should always have a battery installed.
I noticed the hum filtering by trial and error (I hate hum). Your power supply may respond differently. I think the lights are small incandescent bulbs, but I'm not sure. I sold this and kept my other Maestro Phaser (same sound but smaller with no speed ramping), but that's what I remember from doing internal calibration. You can set sweep range and maximum speed with internal trimmers.
The phaser is the PS-1? Yep ... have two. First one even came with a remote. 2nd time I used it smoke came from the remote and poof! The phasers both still work great. Was not aware that there were internal adjustments. Is there truth to this that Moog designed these?
Yes, I believe the PS-1 was Moog-designed. But I have 'MP', which came after the PS-1. It has the same side wheels as the Stage Phaser, but no center switch.
OK ... thanks for the clarification, Again ... great demonstration ... really revealed the full capabilities of this pedal that I was not aware of. Cheers!
I just got one of these today in perfect working condition. Thanks so much for this video as this IS the phaser I have been looking for! I just didn't know it until I saw this.
The overdrive is all in the amp. I modded this Master Volume JCM800 with a relay to switch from non-master clean (with bright and normal channels blended) to master volume overdrive, but with much more available gain than a standard master volume Marshall. This one goes to 11! Gain is turned up about halfway.
I think this pedal is on the studio version of 'Shatted" by the stones.
Speed medium, Balls high

Sorry but I did not understand what you mean by (1:05)!
To get the sound settings would Univibe Hendrix: SPEED = 0 and BALLS = 0 correct?

Anyone know how to change the side light bulbs? And where to buy a new battery cover.

Just a quick note - many sellers do not realize that the LED and side lights will only work with the power adapter and not with the batteries.

Interesting about the filtering ... thanks for the information.
Are the side lights LEDs or other type lights?

The PS-1 was designed by Tom Oberheim. The Maestro Stage Phasers were designed by Moog.

Size 10: it's huge.

Wow, thanks for responding so quickly!, I really hope to get one of these in the near future.

Great video of a really nice sounding Phaser. I really like the ramping up and down. What kind of adapter does this use? I'm guessing 9v, but which
steve3PO 2 years ago
It uses the old style 9V 1/8" mini phone plug which was the standard in the 70's. Adapters are available to convert Boss-style to 1/8" phone.
