well you can't really compare rpgs when one is a third person and one is a first. it's almost like playing two completely different genres. as for the story, you have to give bethseda credit for coming up with an entire "middle-earth" world of their own, loads of history, languages and what not, like tolkien, as opposed to adapting an exact storyline from a book. i do happen to like skyrim's music alot better. it has more of that cliche epic fantasy music that really makes your hairs stand up.

Look at the dungeons. They aren´t dungeons, they are LINEAR TUNNELS. I remember seaching for that fucking dwemer box for hours on morrowind when i was smaller. On skyrim its just like,

I have clocked in 100+ hours in Skyrim, I haven't experienced a single bug, unless you count the buckets on head, but to me that is realism. The dragons look scripted? They twist and turn so randomly its nearly impossible to get a shot on them. The Horse physics, really? You have to be kidding. You don't like the game because it doesn't have excellent horse

@kupownyou Well, Skyrim is a better fighting style for some people but The Witcher does a great integrated 3rd person fighting style that's fluent and cinematic. In some ways the fighting is better in the Witcher series for those who feel in the mood for cinematic 3rd person fighting style. In some ways the fighting is better in Skyrim due to its ability to go from 3rd to 1st person and it does have more weapons and uses for those weapons. Both of the games are great in their unique ways.

@deezaypanda Yes, not on high though (me thinks medium), your grafix card will hold the game back. It's one of the lower/cheaper series from the amd hd 5xxx series. A 5870 is enough to run this on high (not ultra high).
@vonhellman it's totally different, combat is more classic. It's also different than in Skyrim (I'm not saying that it's better, those are two different combat system) - it's faster and more dynamic.

Secondly, Skyrim is a console port ( Low res textures? I can max that out in 1080p with my i3 and 6770 at 60fps solid - Joke! )
For all of you who want to play Witcher 2, I'd recommend playing the first game. Trust me, it's a blast and you'll get a better understanding of the story, plus the save game can be imported, giving you some goodies when you start Witcher 2.

I've played both skyrim and the witcher 2, and from my perspective, the developers of both could learn from each other. eg: the characters in the witcher 2 are more lifelike (you'll actually like some of them) compared to the forgettable characters in skyrim. Also, ves and triss are HOTT!
I didn't like The Witcher... mainly because of the battle gameplay :/ ... is it the same gameplay style with The Witcher 2 (that timed clicking stuff)? I've heard this game is WAY better than the first one?

@kamazamiko bethesda need to update their engine, their melee animations still blows, They base more in environment in my opinion. Hence why i pick Fallout games over Elder Scrolls any day. bullets are more easily disguised than two planks of wood holding a sword swinging without control. I think you need to play more than just skyrim to see different graphics and focus :P. Environment, mechanics, voice, particles, so many sub genres. :P

the graphics and gameplay are just.. so smooth and awesome. . the game has realistic shadows and reflections which look nice.
it runs at 60 fps on medium settings + vsync and probably the same at highest settings for me, i havent tried because i have a 60Hz monitor that starts to flicker with certain games when the fps gets higher than 60.. sometimes even putting on vsync doesn't fix it.

@metal4701 The interface requires some getting used to (although not as bad as Skyrim), its not openworld like Elder Scrolls so don't expect to roam around and do quests, the combat is extremely difficult. That is really all of the flaws. Otherwise it is a perfect game.
Hmm...utterly fantastic and epic game.You can say it by just listening to soundtracks which are dedicated to a ''simple'' game,among its story,graphics and marvelous,epic and grey world of Slavic mythology...Proud to be one actually :)...you just cannot translate the wealth of words in English that are in a language of these ethnic group when you wanna read the book,and that's that gives it a charm :D
If you played the game and you like it, I encourage you to read books by Andrzej Sapkowski (English translation is in progress unless). The world of the game is "nothing*" compared to the elevated feelings of the parties with books.

@deezaypanda Yes, not on high though (me thinks medium), your grafix card will hold the game back. It's one of the lower/cheaper series from the amd hd 5xxx series. A 5870 is enough to run this on high (not ultra high).

First of all, Skyrim has nothing to do with this video.
Secondly, Skyrim is a console port ( Low res textures? I can max that out in 1080p with my i3 and 6770 at 60fps solid - Joke! )
For all of you who want to play Witcher 2, I'd recommend playing the first game. Trust me, it's a blast and you'll get a better understanding of the story, plus the save game can be imported, giving you some goodies when you start Witcher 2.

I've played both skyrim and the witcher 2, and from my perspective, the developers of both could learn from each other. eg: the characters in the witcher 2 are more lifelike (you'll actually like some of them) compared to the forgettable characters in skyrim. Also, ves and triss are HOTT!

@kamazamiko as an universal genre gamer i got nothing to say about graphics since i dont care much, only the game mechanics, wich is more important (to me), though what i do have to say is that skyrim makes you expect much but the game is over after 25-30hrs of story gameplay. kind of lame after a 5th sequel and an enormous map... i just bought witcher 2 and installing it at the moment and i hope to see at least double the of efforts put in storyline rather raw graphics then skyrim...

@kamazamiko bethesda need to update their engine, their melee animations still blows, They base more in environment in my opinion. Hence why i pick Fallout games over Elder Scrolls any day. bullets are more easily disguised than two planks of wood holding a sword swinging without control. I think you need to play more than just skyrim to see different graphics and focus :P. Environment, mechanics, voice, particles, so many sub genres. :P

i love this game. playing at medium settings on gtx 560 ti 8gb 3.3ghz cpu
the graphics and gameplay are just.. so smooth and awesome. . the game has realistic shadows and reflections which look nice.
it runs at 60 fps on medium settings + vsync and probably the same at highest settings for me, i havent tried because i have a 60Hz monitor that starts to flicker with certain games when the fps gets higher than 60.. sometimes even putting on vsync doesn't fix it.

@metal4701 The interface requires some getting used to (although not as bad as Skyrim), its not openworld like Elder Scrolls so don't expect to roam around and do quests, the combat is extremely difficult. That is really all of the flaws. Otherwise it is a perfect game.

If you played the game and you like it, I encourage you to read books by Andrzej Sapkowski (English translation is in progress unless). The world of the game is "nothing*" compared to the elevated feelings of the parties with books.
