  • this could become as big as cashs hurt.

  • It is so Cash, I love it....

  • when i feel low, had a crap day at work i listen to music. makes me feel better and also as a bonus using youtube i get my pieces of eastenders with all the drama in comments 2 greats from 1 location. only bad thing is i ran out of popcorn :(

ohwell back to listening to a great song :)

  • "3 times I shot the sheriff and I did not spare the deputy"

    greatest lyric of all time

  • Whatever anyone wants to call this, if you're concerned about politics or enlightenment at all this is good stuff.

  • This song was so good I assumed it was a Cash cover, but doesn't appear to be!

  • Ugh it sounds like country

  • Why do people have to coment like negative critics. Its like people who always complain about hangovers, good things come from bad, i know that food is god on a shitty sunday and it never tastes that good when your not hungover

  • Tom Morello is a god

  • this is freaking awesome!

  • This is like listening to a book singing. It's so calming even though the massage is heavy.

  • used to hate country when i was a kid..but i think it grows on u as u get older...so much substance

  • @fivedollarsworth

dude, this aint country, its folk, like Bob Dylan

  • Is I just me or dose he sound like Johnny cash

  • I love Tom Morello, I like RATM and I like Audioslave, obviously I like the nightwatchman, but I love Morello as a guitarist first and foremost.

  • Dick Cheney arrested yet for war crimes?

  • love morello! never plays that fucking predictable next chord, he always does something different and it always sounds fucking ace!

  • did NOT expect his voice to be that deep...wow

  • tommy we wish u could play it at lib high along with your class mate aj !!!

  • reminds me of Leonard Cohen

  • @StupidShinigami yEAh me too

  • Morello is a living legend

  • They came here looking for Rage and got MORE than they bargained for, the click on dislike was just to ackowledge that this is way over their head. Read Rage's lyrics you might find a common denominator.

  • NIGHT MAN!!!

  • Tom's songs aren't songs, its the way of the life.

  • 22

  • I get the Johnny Cash statement one of you mentioned, but I am seeing Leonard Cohen by way of a Bruce Springsteen solo mystique coupled with Woody Guthrie sentament.

  • E P I C

  • Grande stima per questo grande chitarrista!!! Grazie a questi personaggi che ci trasmettono la passione e la voglia di suonare!!!

  • @DisabledNetwork unfortunately more than 20... n if u look around u, maybe u'll see that they re crazily destroy our lives....

  • I AGREE..

  • I'm bassman, but this guy makes me want to pick up a guitar

  • Johnny Cash feeling:D "Good evening":)

But Johnny Cash couldn't play his old solos:)

  • 20 people have no respect for legends... but they obviously have another taste than I do, musically and I'm fine with that and don't have to insult them.

  • @celschen u really need to grow a brain before you exert your blind egotism onto the youtube community in hopes for a top comment, cuz ur logic is flawed, idiot.

  • @bukk3t I seriously have no idea what the hell you are talking about, especially regarding logic. which logic? that I don't care if people have different tastes? if you don't understand my point, maybe you need to grow a brain. oh and i couldn't care less about a top comment, I just hate the stupid "xx people must be Justin Bieber fans lolz" posts and was kind of caricaturing them. Sadly not everyone gets that.

  • 20 people didn't keep there promise

    they turned

    they bailed

    they left before the end

  • this guy is cool

  • He reminds me of Johnny Cash in this video.

  • this kinda reminds me of we were soldiers

  • someone fight with weapons, tom morello fight with guitar

  • show me your genitals

  • genial!!!!

  • 20 idiots like the utomatic instruments

  • capitolism begins with the simple fact that we want to be paid for the work we do. and be rewarded at the end of the day. bettering our lives in the process. it's a natural feeling for a man or woman to want more for themselves or their families. greed is what happens when we let that simple feeling corrupt and delude our heads.

and man was sert to self destruct since the begining.

god's greatest gift to man "free will" is it's ultimate enemy

  • FUCK CAPITALISM SHIT !!!

  • "Three times I shot the sheriff and did not spare the deputy."

  • goosebumps.. amazing song! wow!

  • Not everyone wants to be reminded that we live in Oz, and the the wizard dwells behind a curtain.

  • @mitchumm7410. He is more of a socialist, believing in the human right to live as they should. He's not a communist as such merely supporting that all people deserve to live as equals not as basically separate races in the supposedly 'developed' countries such as the US and the UK.

  • GREAT :)

    SOUND

  • this is deep

  • so he was raised by a single mother on a U.S. history teacher salary, that's not a lot to raise a child here in the US alone....

  • @ mitchumm7410. His parents met in August 1963, while attending a pro-democracy protest in Nairobi, Kenya, and Morello was conceived the first night they made love in a hut. After discovering her pregnancy, they returned to the US and married in New York City. The father returned to his native Kenya, and denied his paternity of his son.& was raised solely by his mother . so he knows what it's like to be poor.

  • You people need to realize that communism is at its base, one of the best forms of government ever thought up. but when mans greed becomes intigrated it becomes one of the worst. just because someone is communist doesnt mean their a spy for the red army. just that they care about the middle class/poor, or are just trying to take control for their own monetary gains.

  • @jayzulla The chronology of Marxism leads to a stateless society with a common pool of surplus resources that people draw from at will to satisfy their needs. The transitional economy is one where people contribute their labor hours and receive fair payment in accordance with their deeds, likely enforced by the State. Over time, as with the culture across the world, moral nature would change from self interest to communal interest. Greed is not inherent, it is taught.

  • @nocturnezero

Oh yeah, the idea of the State and the Party making sure I'm paid "fairly" is sooooo reassuring.

  • @PhattyMilkz What does that have to do with man's greed? The person I was responding to contended that somehow greed corrupted Communism (which is false - even in supposedly Communist states, greed wasn't their downfall), which I disputed by explaining the theory, detailed by Che Guevara, that man's nature changes with the economic conditions under which he labors.

  • Amazing album.. Never thought I'd prefer him doing anything other than work with RATM... This blows that away!!!!

  • @mitchumm7410 Your a dumbass I'm sure he cares about the poor and middle class thats why hes a communist

  • @jakkuhimlin yea cause communism automatically educates the poor and makes everyone happy

  • @mitchumm7410 Not automatically but it puts in motion to actually help people while capitalism is only making things worse. Communism gaurantees food for all no matter what. Free education and healthcare for all. You should look up about the USSR's education children at age 7 throughout the USSR were learning 2 languages most of them spoke better english that 16 years olds these days in english speaking countries.

  • @jakkuhimlin haha that doesnt make it a successful regime

  • @mitchumm7410 Really sounds good to me? Whats it missing? Its got food, shelter, education, healthcare and community,Low crime rates,no poverty,More free time for each person to spend on their hobbies and family and friends,Freedom AND liberty please tell me 1 way capitalism is better than communism?

  • @mitchumm7410 How the fuck is capitalism a succesful regime?

  • @Thedahdumdum

Well, for one, markets brought you the computers you and I are typing on.

  • @PhattyMilkz So because of whatever being or concept that has a say in these matters chose me and you (I'm assuming) to be born into a certain degree of wealth while the rest of the world struggles every day to survive. Sure it's great that i have a laptop but i would gladly sacrafice it for a world of fairness, peace and love, wouldn't you.

The reason why this doesn't happen is because the people with the power to really change things are benefiting from the unjust system.

  • @mitchumm7410 1. When did a prerequisite for Communism become experiencing poverty? Why divide up what people should believe based on their economic class? If a wealthy Socialist who'd never suffered a day of work suddenly experienced severe poverty, wouldn't he be more inclined to Socialism and Communism, not less? 2. He grew up in severe poverty. 3. Shut up and sing is a paradox. 4. When did it become abhorrent for art to have a message?

  • I'll never turn

    I'll never bend

    I'm with ya now

    until the end

  • @Rav3lution im with ya now..until the end!

  • he became a johnny cash clone :(

    where's the energy of ratm...

  • @crestfaIIen Have you ever listened to Cash, or are you just puppeting what is said above? Listen to Street Sweeper Social Club, or Rage, or AudioSlave if you want heavy. Obviously he did this for himself and a whole different set of fans. This is heavy in a social way.

  • Messes up his own lyrics, but this is still by far the best version of this song.

  • This guy blows.

  • @agent2x4 This 'guy' is quite easily the greatest guitarist of the last 20 years. So have some goddam respect.

  • Dude he messed up the lyrics!

  • @McLovin6191 yea, at the "6 fathers ect." part

  • this is a suprise

  • I was learning this song on guitar and once I got the hand on it I play it every single day! Addictive!

  • @mister60066

post a video of how to play it

  • @jbsdrummerboy i can't go over the whole song, check the tabs at 911 tabs

  • I have just now become aware of Tom Morello's Nightwatchman work and I am completely impressed. This is heartfelt meaningful poignant and powerful music that we haven't seen since the early sixties (Billy Bragg please don't take offense). For a guitarist as technically magnificent as Morello to have this strikingly different side to his creativity is amazing and I for one will try and soak up as much of The Nightwatchman as I can. Rock on Tom!

  • @ i mean we saw powerful lyrics from RATM and see it from multiple metal bands, AILD, Tool, Korn, KSE A7x and Rise Against cmon now its not just tom, not trying to beat him down but take a look at lyrics from those bands, they got some poetic powerful stuff too..

  • awesome !

  • nice Mr. Morello this is all the inspiration I need brother. since I always felt comfortable singing with a deeper voice and have read enough. My great great grandfather was a German immigrant and worked along with Italian and Slovakian immigrants and were enslaved by coal and coke companies and the people of Southwestern PA, ,Kentucky and West Virginia played a major role in getting some rights for the workers.

  • His voice is amazing, Keep on rocking Tom!

  • is this song from himself ?

  • @DavidBaatzsch no =)

  • @kainy93 from who it is ?

  • @DavidBaatzsch

the name of the band is "Axis of Justice".

with tom morello, nichtwatchmann and serj Tankian.

    I believe, but I'm sure=)

  • @kainy93

the axis of justice is not a band it is a political group and yes it was formed by him and serj tankian

  • @DavidBaatzsch

    sorry I make a mistake.

This is from himself! Nightwatchman is the soloprojekt of Tom Morello from RATM

  • @kainy93

And from audioslave, don't forget audioslave haha.

  • wow no one of you really cares about the message he is trying to send with those albums and songs, you just ramble about ratm and audioslave really sad...

  • @z3ko I Care

  • I would never be one tenth as good as Tom Morello in playing guitar. So much respect for him.

  • Great music, nice voice! He's becomming a true legend!

  • im pretty sure his balls dropped again.

  • WTF? This is Tom's 'old white man's' voice. The white genes manifest themselves! lol

  • I really cant undestand

how 19 idiots can dislike this work of art!

  • @karolos10 because they are idiots....

  • his voice is similar to Lanegan's one!

  • id say lyrically, more leonard cohen than cash

  • I was at that show.... awesome experience, seeing tom morello play something different.

  • Comment removed

  • @modestminority rage is done. hes in Street Sweeper Social Club. asshole.

  • @ZomBHuntR actually you're both wrong, yes Tom is in SSSC now, but rage just said that they are getting back together in studio

  • @dpglotus really that is fucking awsome. i love rage. i like all of tom's work, from rage, to audioslave, to this, and SSSC. im pumped now.

  • @dpglotus

Think Zach said something but Tom has been out and said that it won't happen :/

  • These lyrics are amazing. wow. who woulda thought that Audioslave's guitarist could do somthing as good as this solo.

  • @TheJammin44 Rather see him as RATM's guitarist than Audioslave's really..

  • @stijnvanhooff i don't rate Audioslave, no offense to them and i would love to see RATM together and touring again!!"

  • @stijnvanhooff u prefer an MC who wears a panty than chris cornell?

  • @stijnvanhooff : Changing the hair doesnt make you a different man. His fingertips are still the same, no matter where he is.

  • Not even close to Johnny Cash.

  • Christ, if this song was made 50 years ago it would still get played on the radio today. Brilliant lyrics.

  • holy shit his VOICE!!!!

  • sounds a bit like fabled city

  • No one asks what this song is about...

  • God damn, this mother fucker has SOUL!

  • exept for his amazing guitar techniques n playin ,his really inspiring voice

Tom s got a true songwriting talent!

he s one of a kind>i wish one day i could do one quarter of what he s done

  • good stuff

  • He is with Joe Satriani the smartest guitar-hero ever!

  • whats with all the sad songs tom??

  • @wrspclan09 RATM songs are sad to, if you listen carefully to the lyrics. plus this is a completely different genre than RATM and Audioslave

  • @NightwatchRebel yeah but he's more foke music when ratm is more hardcore rock n roll thats all i ment

  • It really reminds me of Johnny, and that is, in my eyes, a huge compliment!

  • @Proteozym I was thinking exactly the same thing while listening Tom's voice.

  • "3 times I shot the sheriff and did not spare the deputy."

Bob Marley is the shit just like Tom Morello.

  • @iaiceikiingi47i hell yeah!!!!!

  • you would never think he played in RATM or Audioslave after hearing this. Sounds Fantastic; talent at it's best!

  • @toddy01bass what do you mean? you think he was bad with RATM and Audioslave?

  • @pedroooo5 No Not at all!!! i love ratm and audioslave, i mean if you listen to the style of music and the guitar technique he's using here; you would never think he had played in such bands as ratm and audioslave. but this still sounds great, tom morello is a fantastic talent

  • lol still shows as 5 stars anyway.

  • nice video awsum song ^^

  • lol

  • @dalloway89 yea i guess the times are changing is about....

  • @ mickjagger64 Tom morello lives to protest..no matter what the cause from war to taco bell. If you knew anything about dylan you'd know he wasnt a protest singer, he sang about what he thought was right. Tom wants to be seen as a figure in a movement. Dylan left joan baez because she wanted him to be more involved in the movement and he didnt want to. Don't Compare legends to wannabee's.

Tom has come a long way from rage

  • This guy is awsome ! Check out him and the " Boss " Ghost of Tom Joed !

  • Really kind of Johnny Cash. Nice piece, no doubt about that.

  • @CubicleP Nick Cave

  • great song!!!revolutionary!!

  • totally amazing, gr8 song man!

  • what an amazing singin voice!!

  • Awesome song. So fun to play on guitar. Way to go Tom.

  • @FlashingFountain, dude, this is tom morello, he didnt upload the video :L. but anyways, stick a capo on the 6th fret, and its all based around Am, C, G, Am again :)

  • Tom ist der Beste. Danke Tom

  • like a modern Dylan. Not as good, obviously, but still awesome

  • @2009Rage

Indeed, he reminds me very much of dylan to.

  • @tomtebass More Johnny Cash than Dylan, in my humble opinion.

  • In a political sense he's more dylan than cash, the lyrics and such. However his sound is far more cashy than dylanesque.

  • @mickjagger64

Would I be off saying there's a little Leonard Cohen in there as well too?

  • @mickjagger64

So what your saying is he took the two best things about both men and put them together?

    EPICNESS

  • Tom Morello is one of the most intelligent musicians ever. And he proves that through his acoustic solos...I mean lissen to his lyrics...only a combination of a harvard graduate and an excellent guitarist can come with such politically correct lyrics! Mind Blowing!

  • Wow tom morello goes johnny cash!!

  • @poeureka because he has a deep voice? You sure are bright, young feller!

  • YEs pal for his deep voice!! Reminded me Cash at first. The Chords in this song are preetty cool and the melody sounds very indian!

  • @Prizefyter Because he has that whistling deep voice.

  • @Prizefyter

Actually thats exactly what Tom said he was going to do, he said the Nightwatchman is a cross between Dylan and Cash

  • @Prizefyter to be fair his voice has a striking resemblance to the great Cash, no need to be a dick about it is there?

  • @poeureka johnny cash would be proud of morello :) !

  • @poeureka na man.. hes completly his own person.. not at all lile jognnt cash.. way more deep in his message..

  • @poeureka: no sh*t. i was listening to the cd BEFORE seeing this...i thought this song was another one that had a guest singer on it!

  • @poeureka I disagree. I'd say tom Morello from Rage goes Tom Morello:The Nightwatchman<3

  • I absolutely hate people who think tom morello is a bad guitarist just cause he uses effects. Tom Morello is fuckin amazing and knows everything about everything about everything about guitar

  • He could be on with the peppers now that John's off

  • @saponavedi he is?

  • i don't know for sure
