Poor lil Champagne, she just ran out of legs in the last 50mts A great effort from both these Kiwis considering they both got catapulted into the running rail in the farce of the Caulfield Cup. And Champagne blitzed the field in the Mackinnon Stk 4 days prior.

I cried like a baby watching this, it'd been so long since we had won the Cup, ten years is a long time for Kiwis!

I was split between the two. I don't normally pick by omens, but everything lined up with those two girls, last winner a mare, and Paddy was the grandsire of both.

I've commented elsewhere about Taufan's Melody, but I'll say it again; if he'd been an Australasian horse, he would've been relegated so far back he wouldn't have even weighed in.
