The tunnels there must surely run further. And you're right about the lake, there are many accounts of the Victorians hosting underground boat rides underneath the Palace.

wouldn't if i were you mate, the fairground foreman used to piss in a bucket down there - the smell still lingers to this day.

Stay tuned mate, I've got a few more trips up my sleeve. For example, the munitions battery at the fort is massive and is well worthy of getting on film. Not to mention the old marimers' home on Seabank, dissused for years and used by the police to train their dogs. Fascinating underground Newbo.
