  • Yes, it was as the Music Mill. A very small venue, I was 10 feet from Geoffrey Downes. Great show.

  • Great band got to see them for the 1st time at Holmfirth on Saturday truly amazing !!

  • Where is John Payne...when are back Weton and Downs

  • JP sucks. He was never part of Asia...just a cheap tribute band.

  • Actually John Payne was in Asia form 91-06. The first album with John Payne AQUA did feature Downes, Howe, and Palmer, and even Al Pitrelli. After that, for the rest of the era Downes and Payne headed Asia. John Payne is actually a pretty good vocalist. I've seen Asia featuring John Payne and they were pretty good. They also played the songs Go and Days Like These which you would never hear the original line-up play. I like John Payne cause he brings a harder yet still progressive edge to Asia.

  • Actually he never was a member of Asia. Downes used the Asia name without the legal justification of John Wetton. Wetton should have taken legal action...but was fighting his own demons at the time. I've also seen this cover band and was not impressed at all. This loser can't hold a note to save his life. Progressive? He was a pop metal singer in a cheap cover band. Downes was out of his mind at the time and later stated that he deeply regretted doing what he did with this loser.

  • That's sad to hear Downes actually say that. I knew he was dissapointed with the last Asia tour with Payne, but I don't think he regreted. He was just unhappy with the shows in the U.S. Regardless, Asia still kept the name when Payne was in the line-up and they toured as Asia. I've seen both bands. Both are great, more or less. you probably cannot compare at all. But the fact is that John Payne was in Asia, probably not everyone's favorite line-up, but he was. I applaude his efforts with Asia.

  • I don't agree. JP was part of a pop metal cover band before he joined the tribute band. I too dislike his voice and consider him to be a second rate musician. To a majority of the fans out there this moron was never part of Asia. John Wetton NEVER gave his legal blessing to use the Asia name. That is fact...and he was also in a very bad state of mind at the time to do anything legally about it. But Downes has said that he regretted doing what he did! No matter...it's dead and buried.

  • That says a lot about Downes and Palmer to pick JP themselves and play with him several more years. I'm sure Downes and Palmer would not consider their days with JP a "cheap tribute band". They created their own material. You may like this better, and dislike John Payne, but to call him a talentless clown is ignorant---the guy, along with Guthrie Govan, are incredible musicians. Downes and Palmer evidently thought so as well. I do like this song--and credit them for continuing.

  • This song is one of the most uplifting and positive songs I have ever heard. Plus, these guys are around fithy years old and STILL rock like hell. John Wetton has not lost anything with his voice. Too bad they won't come to San Juan, PR and play here on the island.

  • ASIA should get together with the RUSH Snakes and Arrows Tour.

  • That would be an awesome tour, but Rush usually doesn't need an opening band. I saw ASIA in Indy and was blown away, I would travel to see them again.

I am a huge Rush & ASIA fan, by the way.

  • The concert in LILLE was great but we are sill waiting for a dedicace after the show....

  • What is a "dedicace"?

  • Oh, sorry, a dedicace is a French word, I wanted just the group to sign on my DVD's after the show, but....nobody came...

  • @relayerone

    a signing session.

  • @joel60112 got tons of footage in lille... was a good one

  • Ok..Mr. Chr is Squire..personality..love so much.. An Extraordinary Life's song ..afterall..Wetton's life..this song, is a hymn and a hyper - legend for a Sole Survivor!!!

  • You can say this about any band.. No band ever sounds perfect live..but damn, this is still a very good performance, considering this is not an album where everything always sounds "perfect."

  • Best song from their new album?

It's got great verses but a cheesy and embarassing chorus. I'm really not fond of it.

Parallel Worlds, Wish I'd Known and Orchard of Mines are amazing fantastic songs in my world though.

  • Hence my use of the term "arguably". Mileage varies, I find Orchard Of Mines rather dull, but I agree with you on Parallel Worlds ;)

  • OK! English isn't my native language so I overlooked that word in your comment ;)

  • I agree, it's a little cheesy, but still not a bad song, it sounds like a song you'd hear at a Christian Bable camp.

Parallel and Orchards are top notch!

  • @trevor001 The chorus isn't cheesy, it's quite good ... as is the whole song. The chorus of "Shadow Of A Doubt" is, however, embarrassing

  • Can't wait to see the Phoenix show. Live in FL and hope they come down in the Fall or New Year. Saw them last year down here but rain shortened the show. The one song I wish someone would post is Daylight!!

    Thanks for the post.

  • ASIA LIVE!!!

  • Awesome!! Please post some of the other live stuff thats not on Youtube, like Open your eyes, and never again, if you have it. Thanks!

  • They (the venue) were pretty explicit about no cameras or audio, in fact we got hassled on the way out about it. So all we were able to get was this & the encore of Don't Cry & Sole Survivor, which are posted by others elsewhere. Sorry.
