i always hated that door when the had those buses in my town including the bus in this video (#112)

that door was never too bad but some of them would have a 4 to 5 second delay every once and awile.. not a good thing when it pooring rain and you trying to get in.. this bus was one of three 1985s that we had.. we also had 11 1983s... those 14 buses ran our untire town for years.. it was a shame to too see them go... now we got a bunch of brand new gilligs..

Back in college (Willimantic, CT USA 1997-2001) they had 3 30' Orion's with the single plug door on reserve in the event the 3 Gilligs broke down.

The buses were used on The WRTD Storrs-Willimantic route when it was operated by UConn Tranist.

The last time I saw these buses were in 2001 after WRTD consoloated their services under a single contractor. Uconn kept the buses and the last time I saw one was in 2002.

I thought the ugly Scania "things" (they are called buses, but they don't look like that if you would ask me) had big doors, but I've never seen one this big :P.

Nice video, must have looked weird to see the driver opening and reclosing it a couple of times.

This is a 1985 Orion I 01.507 powered by the Detroit Diesel 6V-92TA engine and the Allison HT-747 transmission.

But, enough about that, let's talk about the front door ... even Ithaca Transit's 1989 Orion I's had this style of front door, as did Newmarket Transit's 1990 models.

Oh, you're definately more into buses than me then... :-)

These style front doors became common a couple of years ago with the low-floor bus-mania breaking out here (every transporter needs to have low-floor buses because they face charges if they don't...long story)

Brandon Transit in Manitoba also has an Orion I with the one peice door that was built in 1992. But that door was available on all Orion I's right through production of the Orion I's.
