I personally have an internal battle with this as wanting to keep your friend with you is selfish in a way, but as a friend I do NOT with them to suffer. We as humans should remember that death is a part of the life all living things, especially friends that don't live as long as we do. Remember, our bodies run on 1/4 volt electricity and is impossible to destroy energy, only transform it. The energy that was Pelle still exists.
To Pelle's Dad -- I just have to ask.....with all due respect (and I don't mean to sound critical since you are grieving) but, why did you let her die to slowly in the bathroom? Why not take her to a vet to be put down? It's not expensive and it's merciful. Maybe with your next cat, you might keep that in mind? I am truly sorry for your heartache.

I just had to say goodbye to my cat after 19 years, kidneys shutting down, too painful to continue. It hurts but be grateful for the time you had and all the wonderful memories.

My grandparents owned a cat that was about a year older than me. She passed away a few years ago at the age of 21. My grandpa counted the pellets the same way you did and one day he picked her up and put her on his lap. She died a few hours later.

@Germenguy5545 oh yeah. cats throw up all the time. if the vet does a thorough look of her and finds nothing, you can seek a second opinion, but otherwise it's just something cats do.

We had to put my cat down March 3rd 2010. She was 13, and had a tumor on her spleen, she couldn't even move anymore, it was the saddest day of my life, I was only 15. I know how your feeling, I'm so sorry for your loss.

This video somehow makes me happy.. It reminds me of my cat who's life ended pretty much the same way. I found it on the streets, and it stayed with us for about 7 years. I was glad to know that I gave him the most i could have for him to live a happy life, and that I enjoyed his presence and affection as much.

My cat ginger died today. I was upset coz he could not die at home with us instead of having to be put down. I had to put him down though because he had eaten poisin from the neighbors backyard and was crying in pain. I have another cat though. His name is sylvester but he is really sick and has arthuritis and rarely leaves his bed. I cant bring him to the vet or get medication because my parents are too cheap to get it for him. Mom,Dad i am depressed my meds cost $800+ sylvesters cost $30. Why?
@fuckcomments Euthanasia is not done because the owners are lazy. I had a cat was very sick, and was diagnosed with kidney failure. There was no cure for kidney failure, only medicine that would "prolong" her life. The vet was very frank with us and said that she WAS in pain, and would continue to be in pain until she died. The "continuous seizures" sort of pain, not that nice, dull pain. The look in her eyes said "let me die". Don't tell me that humans don't get the same look. Hence DNR's.

@ackeibler My cat also had kidney failure 2 months ago. I too had to make the decision to let her go, rather than drag out her pain. It was the hardest decision I've had to make, but to keep her alive would have been for me......not for her. I miss her so much.

@ackeibler My cat is being put down because of kidney failure too, she is in so much pain you can see it in their faces. People are saying its because the owners are lazy, have you people ever had a pet seriously? It's such a hard decision to make, I didn't have enough money for her treatment so I brought her to a charity run vet who insisted that I put her down because she is so uncomfortable so it has little to do with money either.
@ackeibler I have been thru this four times in the past six years. It gets no easier, but it is about the animal not about oneself when they become terminally ill.

A vet once told us to put my cat down but I refused. I stayed with him all night long for a few days in the master bedroom's bathroom with the hot water running to put some vapor into the air. I also turned the heat up in the bathroom a bit to keep him warmed up. He got over whatever it was and was fine. Before we took him to the vet he kept hiding and was breathing funny. My mom was telling me he was finding a place to die. As far as I know he's still alive, my mom made me give him to friends.

There are times when it is right to keep fighting, but a good owner knows when that fight is too much. You don't want to watch your pet suffer on for days or weeks when the outcome is inevitable.
@hormoanz Everything dies... I also notice that EVERYTHING will kick and scream and fight and have pieces of themselves ripped off to get away and survive as long as they can. I can't see any creature just dying. Maybe it doesn't eat because it is too weak and needs help from people who know how. My heart goes out to you guys =/ We had to put our kitty, Boots, down before christmas and such, due to unknown causes of his sickness..he was retaining to much fluid (IE: He couldn;t even urinate, it was 'leaking' into other areas of his body) and well, was having severe problems with his bowels and such..even to this day, I still shed tears for my fatcat ><; Making such a decision is difficult, but does show just how much you truly loved Pelle. And for that, well, you have my utmost respect.

he has trouble breathing, because his heart has grown twice the normal size, and also his liver is twice the normal size now. also he has fluids in his lungs wich makes it hard for him to breathe. he is not in pain, but breathing is really hard for him, and the chance for him to die from suffocation in 2 weeks/2 months is big.

in 2009 my dog passed away very sudden.
it was very hard and not easy.
when me and my family went to get him because they told us he was doing good he collapsed in the hall on the way out.
3 hours later he stopped breathing and had to be put down
i will never ever ever forget him, his name was fergus, and irish water spaniel, 7 years of age.

We had to put my cat down March 3rd 2010. She was 13, and had a tumor on her spleen, she couldn't even move anymore, it was the saddest day of my life, I was only 15. I know how your feeling, I'm so sorry for your loss.

We put our 13 year old cat to sleep yesterday, she wasn't eating and had started to throw up for weeks, we had to force feed her and then all of a sudden she collapsed and had a total paralysis of her whole lower body, it was so saddening that we decided to put her to sleep... twas so tragic..well a decision had to be made and that was to put her out of her misery and agony... she either had a tumor in her liver.

This video somehow makes me happy.. It reminds me of my cat who's life ended pretty much the same way. I found it on the streets, and it stayed with us for about 7 years. I was glad to know that I gave him the most i could have for him to live a happy life, and that I enjoyed his presence and affection as much.

My cat ginger died today. I was upset coz he could not die at home with us instead of having to be put down. I had to put him down though because he had eaten poisin from the neighbors backyard and was crying in pain. I have another cat though. His name is sylvester but he is really sick and has arthuritis and rarely leaves his bed. I cant bring him to the vet or get medication because my parents are too cheap to get it for him. Mom,Dad i am depressed my meds cost $800+ sylvesters cost $30. Why?

@fuckcomments Euthanasia is not done because the owners are lazy. I had a cat was very sick, and was diagnosed with kidney failure. There was no cure for kidney failure, only medicine that would "prolong" her life. The vet was very frank with us and said that she WAS in pain, and would continue to be in pain until she died. The "continuous seizures" sort of pain, not that nice, dull pain. The look in her eyes said "let me die". Don't tell me that humans don't get the same look. Hence DNR's.

If they did, other cats would take advantage of them) and suffering is not the way I want to see her go. I wouldn't do it because I was being lazy (which is what I know you would presume of me). If you want it that way, go ahead. Let your own pet suffer in its last moments.

"Suffering is not the way -I- want to see her go"... it makes me think you thought that your suffering was more important to you than your pet's. @ackeibler My cat also had kidney failure 2 months ago. I too had to make the decision to let her go, rather than drag out her pain. It was the hardest decision I've had to make, but to keep her alive would have been for me......not for her. I miss her so much.

People are saying its because the owners are lazy, have you people ever had a pet seriously? It's such a hard decision to make, I didn't have enough money for her treatment so I brought her to a charity run vet who insisted that I put her down because she is so uncomfortable so it has little to do with money either.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. My cat was diagnosed a few weeks ago with cancer of the gastrointestinal tract. The people on YouTube who don't understand why ppl put their final moments of their pets lives on video...just really don't get it do they? Your video has helped me tremendously as I have to go tomorrow to put him to sleep. I hate it because Monday would have been his 10 yr anniversary with us. R.I.P. Pelle...and my cat Midnight.

He was always there when we came back from school... I hope hes still alive... I have had over 11 dogs and all were dead except for maybe 2...

My cat was put to sleep late last year due to poisoning. I chose the option not to visit him while he was at the vet , thinking that he'll be coming home. I found out he died from a sympathy card from the vet in the mail. It still hurts me that I didn't get to say goodbye. I'm so sorry for your loss xx

A vet once told us to put my cat down but I refused. I stayed with him all night long for a few days in the master bedroom's bathroom with the hot water running to put some vapor into the air. I also turned the heat up in the bathroom a bit to keep him warmed up. He got over whatever it was and was fine. Before we took him to the vet he kept hiding and was breathing funny. My mom was telling me he was finding a place to die. As far as I know he's still alive, my mom made me give him to friends.

I lived in the somewhat country when I was young and we had several cats.
Every time one of them came down with a bad disease, sooner or later they'd disappear. Sometimes we'd find their hiding place, and their dead bodies.
It's an old instinct of cats, to hide even from their owners when they are most vulnerable. They also do it when giving birth.

@fuckcomments Did you watch the video? She was sick. She was tired. She was not eating or drinking. She knew she was near the end. She WAS ready. I think your method of letting your pet slowly starve/dehydrate to death is much more inhumane.
There are times when it is right to keep fighting, but a good owner knows when that fight is too much. You don't want to watch your pet suffer on for days or weeks when the outcome is inevitable.

@hormoanz Everything dies... I also notice that EVERYTHING will kick and scream and fight and have pieces of themselves ripped off to get away and survive as long as they can. I can't see any creature just dying. Maybe it doesn't eat because it is too weak and needs help from people who know how. It all comes down to the owner being to lazy to take care of a dying animal and accept some BS like you just said instead of tending to it until it died in your arms.

Beautiful cat, and obviously adored. I held my cat as he was put to sleep today and it was the hardest thing I have done in a long long while. A soul is a soul no matter what body it resides in. RIP Pelle and Tomtom.

My heart goes out to you guys =/ We had to put our kitty, Boots, down before christmas and such, due to unknown causes of his sickness..he was retaining to much fluid (IE: He couldn;t even urinate, it was 'leaking' into other areas of his body) and well, was having severe problems with his bowels and such..even to this day, I still shed tears for my fatcat ><; Making such a decision is difficult, but does show just how much you truly loved Pelle. And for that, well, you have my utmost respect.

my cat maybe has to be put down tomorrow, and i only heard it today when i got home from school.
he has trouble breathing, because his heart has grown twice the normal size, and also his liver is twice the normal size now. also he has fluids in his lungs wich makes it hard for him to breathe. he is not in pain, but breathing is really hard for him, and the chance for him to die from suffocation in 2 weeks/2 months is big.
thats a horrible death to die
