@mmmurmomspie you just need to learn how to control your car. once you know when your car is about to shift let off the gay and floor it again. you can do fasterif you know your car.
When I had the Intrepid, I did that allot & would squawk the tires as it shifted to 2nd. Only other FWD/auto I had that did that was my 89 LeBaron GTC & only in the summer when the day was hot & the Turbo was kickin @ the highest boost. Now my Eclipse is a 5 speed, & I have even had a mechanic flip out on me when he raised the hood & saw it was a 4 bang'r! Its all in know'N how to drive your ride, cause I could snag 3rd in my moms 91- 5/speed S-10, most couldn't get 2nd in her.

try using auto stick (shifting) it improves the accel so much. ive raced a eclipse before and i had him in the dust.
