@Barnstormer1969 i love japanese monster movies so much thanks for posting and at 1:30 that surfing music is from Frankenstein vs Baragon/Frankenstein Conquers the World.
I LOVE this movie! Its sort of Mysterious Island, if it was filmed at Amicus studios! It has just everything! Part 'Bond film'... Part 'Mad-Scientist film'... Part 'Buddy picture'! I always loved the shtick with the one crew member who doesn't speak English, and yet the entire cast (even the ones that don't speak Japanese) can understand him! I always wondered he thats where Lucas came up with the idea for Chewbaca?
I saw this movie with my friends sometime in the early '70s when space travel was the rage. The special effects were great and the underwater scenes were awesome. Much has happened since then, but to this day we still laugh and talk about the lion brain change and the lady turning to dust. The good ole days...
This played on cable a few years ago, can't remember what station, but I just caught the last few minutes of it, and I was like ..oh, yeah, I remember this one!
I saw this movie at a drive in w/ my family, we were on vacation in Oregon I think. I remember the diamonds turning to sand, or disappearing, can't remember which it was. I remember Cesar Romero taking the brain out of the lion's head, and the people flying up to the cliff, and we all laughed because it was so weird. Anyway, I talked about this film for years after that: you ever see Latitude Zero? no. Most people never saw this move.
Saludos a toda la generacion de ninos Cubanos que como yo tuvieron la suerte de ver esta pelicula en el Cine Praga de Pinar del Rio por alla por el 1970. Espero que despues la cola para helado en Coppelia no haya sido muy larga! LOL
It's low resolution, and the aspect ratio is way off but it's free.
(To fix the aspect ratio- right click the file in iTunes, choose "Show in Windows Explorer" , then play the file with VLC. Choose the video tab to select the right aspect ratio )
@ronito6 Unlike LADY FRANKENSTEIN or THE HEARSE? Actually, Cotten recalls working on LATITUDE ZERO with some fondness (even though he was sick with the Asian Flu during production), which is recounted on pages 166-175 of his autobiography, "Vanity Will Get You Somewhere".

That was from FRANKENSTEIN CONQUERS THE WORLD.
When Baragon was trashing a club with partying teens.

This movie is great.
There's just too much going on in this movie to begin to comment on/
It's my favorite Joseph Cotten "take the money and run" effort.
ronito6 1 year ago
@ronito6, I like the film, myself. What's great about these Japanese movies is that they show that they don't take themselves too seriously.

@August138 He should have known better than to get the Asian flu; it's just a cheap plastic imitation of the European flu.

I love how even in the trailer you can see the strings. That said, the Black Moth looks pretty cool looking.
