wow, to think this is the video that started it all... it's very strange, the idea that one man can make up about 3 million little projects in about 4 years. Will, I salute you!
@TheWolf739 Wow! Yup, I remember making this project and this video. I set up some posterboard as a back drop. And the video is only 4 seconds long! Lots of videos and projects since then! Who would have thought? It's been a whole lot of fun!
For Modular Tech. class I need to make a Trebuchet that has an arm length of 4 feet and it has to have wheels. I would also like it if it had one of those funky wooden baskets to hold weights. I need to have it done within 3 weeks and I am having trouble finding a really good one. I also do not fully inderstand how the one basket string comes off, and where you put the slot to attach the second string. I would be thankful if you could help me.
You may have to custom make a wooden basket out of balsa wood or pine. One end of the string attaches securely to the top of the swing arm the other end of the string is on a metal ring - this metal ring slides onto a nail on the very end of the swing arm - this way it just comes right off as the arm swings and opens up the pouch. more on this on my website including pictures
Hi! and thanks for watching. I used a chinese healing ball as the weight but you can use just about anything like pennies. One end of the string is tied to a little metal hoop which is strung over a nail at the top of the treb. As it swings the hoop just slides right off the nail. I have complete instructions on how to make this on my website, including weights, physics, best ways to do it and more. Lots of pics and help if you want to make one!
Without any tweaking It started out at 5 meters. With some work and fine tuning I got it up to about 8 meters in the air then another 2-3 meters of rolling.

hmmmmm, catapults are stronger :)

In direct comparison, trebuchets are a lot stronger and shoot farther than a catapult. They are advanced catapults :)

2 things. 1: what did you use as the weight
2:how do you get it to release the projectile?
